Should walkie talkies have text chat?

Many walkie talkies have a morse code option, so we could have something like that. You write a message, it takes some time to send it with morse code. When you receive such a message the text will be slowly writen on your screen like when you are reading morse code. I would like that option very much :)
  2. But on, a more serious note. I hope one day the devs introduce some form of riot gear, craftable chain mail or some other sort of body armor. It would protect you from melee weapons and zombies to a certain point. It would be awesome if you could scavenge for metal and then craft steel plates and body armor, with the right tools of course. The craftable gear could be repaired but it would offer less protection from police riot gear and it would be complicated to craft it, in the other hand you would not be able to repair police riot gear which would be hard to obtain in pristine condition. The gear would also have it's drawbacks. Slowing you down and make sprinting possible only for very short periods of time. If you don't like the proposal or someone already made this suggestion don't be too harsh....please... ^_^
  3. So full riot geared players would not have to worry about bambi's knocking them out on the beach but they would still be vulnerable to gun shots.
  4. Well they could introduce hand fractures so you won't be able to hold any weapons or at least not fire them while you're injured.
  5. Everyone would love to have something like this when a whole island is after you punching and biting! :D

    Thread in defense of banditry

The problem right now is that the huge amount of military loot makes PvP possible. You log on, go to an airfield, gear up on military weapons in a short period of time and then go back to the coast to shoot people. If you had to search for a LRS or an M4 for 10+ hours and the ammo for it would be scarce you might think twice before you unload a full mag into someone. They said military loot will be lowered, so enjoy the abundance of loot while it lasts :) Don't get me wrong, I don't mind PvP, but it's just to easy to take risks and fight people all the time because gearing up is easy, but it should not be...
  7. Yes but you won't survive it against a group of people and even if you kill me my group will take care for me when i get back :P
  8. What you don't get is that after they introduce more zed's that are harder to kill (3-4 hits with an axe or a headshot), fatigue so you can not outrun them, introduce health problems and infections so you have to take care of yourself and what you eat/drink (no more water straight out of the pond), and at the same time decrease military grade loot and long range attachments, ammo, food, antibiotics, etc., you will have a though time gearing up after you die, and if you are a lone sniper you will die eventually no matter how good you are. If you kill 1, 2 or 3 people from a group of 5 or 6 before you die they will just secure their equipment and wait for the guys that died to get back and pick up stuff that is not ruined, along with your gear, you on the other hand will have to gear up alone in such a dangerous environment. So what if it will take 10 hours to find a long range scope for your mosin on your own, or even longer? People in groups will have advantages over lone wolfs later in the game and your gear will become more precious for you then for people in groups or clans that help each other out.

    Singleplayer?

This! I would like to see a client side tutorial implemented in the game which you could play. It's hard for newbies to get a hold of all the controls and a tutorial for basic movement, shooting, looting would be awesome. I remember how hard it was for me to get used to all the controls when I was a noob... :)

    Is there any nice people

I always try to help people, but I never go to the coast to help fresh spawns. It's a stupid thing to do because the coast is full of people that died recently and they try to gear up ASAP to get into another firefight. Real newbs don't need help, it's trial and error, they gonna learn eventually, helping them and gearing them up is like carrying for a young wild animal, as soon as you let him go into the wilderness he will day anyway. Of the 20 people I assisted only 3 were near the beach, mostly I help out people more inland around non military locations, but there are exceptions. It depends on their attitude when I meet them. Either I make contact or avoid them, KoS is not my style even if I see a fully geared player. If you want to be a nice guy in DayZ you have to remember Yoda's wisdom: Yoda: "The fear of loss is a path to the Dark Side. Rejoice for those around us who transform into the Force. Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy, the shadow of greed, that is. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose."

    I got played!

Well I had a different experience yesterday. I logged in a bit south from NEAF and I was searching for an SKS. Decided to go to the airfield to pick up some attachments. As I entered the ATC I noticed a player sprinting towards me so I took up a position at the stairs and told him to stay away. He ran up anyway and then I saw he has no gun drawn. Well the situation was tense but nobody died. So I proposed we make our way to Chernaya Polana since I was searching for the SKS and he had poor gear. Brought him to Chernaya Polana, we looted a couple of buildings and went on our merry way. I logged off to eat something and when I got back I decided to go trough the NEAF again and down to Berezino. I logged on to another server and stopped at the prison near the ATC to have a look. Suddenly I hear footsteps and I let the guy know I'm there. After a short chat where we agreed that we don't trust each other I put my gun away and ran down to the prison cell. He was on the floor with a Blaze pointed at the door but he did not shoot as he was even more surprised to see me, so he just ran out of the cell. I took him with me, we hiked, we ate, we drank kvas. It was fun, way more fun then a 30 second shootout. Introduced him to my guild, perhaps he'll join us. I had 2 encounters on the NWAF in a day without a single shot fired. There might be hope for this game  EDIT: I just got axed in Berezino hospital but the guy was just scared since we ran into each other in the stairs. I survived, but my TTsKo jacket is ruined now :|
  12. Yes the infected need to be more dangerous. This video actually made me buy the game in the first place. The action starts 13-14 minutes into the video. As soon as they fire their guns the whole town swarms them instantly, they run at the same speed and they don't stop. No gear or ammo in the world would save you there. This is what we need in the game and there would be less shooting around or near towns... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54pbaLNLTlA&t=13m30s

    Post Your Gear So Far

Why do you think he was server hopping? I have similar gear on and I only played with my guild to get it. Since the guild has players from all over the world we pick a server that's ok for the whole group and then we play on that server the whole gaming session. Tomorrow we have an OP planned so today all that I was doing was going from north of Balota do Berezino and looting the center of Chernarus. I found some nice goodies in those 3 hours. But I am curios, what makes you believe that his guy is server hopping? Just because he has nice gear? My character is over 90 hours old and I worked for all the gear I have on me, maybe this guy did the same....
  16. 1. Cars rust faster if they were on fire or have the first layer of pain removed. It does not have to be over a year, could be weeks or months. 2. Bananas - not every single bit of the game is realistic. 3. What do we really know about the virus/bacteria/parasite that is causing people to act the way they act? It could be the disease is slowing down their metabolism to the point they don't need to drink or eat for months, or it altered their bodies to feed themselves otherwise. Until we know more about the disease we cannot answer this question. EDIT: Also it can be that it's a different time frame all together. They never said that this outbreak is happening now. It could be the year 2000 for all we know.
  17. I don't complain, it's just hilariously stupid to see that every newspawn with an axe just like every server hopping bastard tries to kill everyone around themselves no matter what, especially along the coast. I just can't wait for stronger and more zed's and far less weapons and ammo, especially the military guns and mosins. When people get into a situation where they got something to lose (good gear they scavenged over several days instead of hopping trough 6-7 servers) there wont be so much bloodthirsty people around since every mag they empty is another day of searching for a replacement, when a shot will draw 10 zeds onto you and you become a nice target trying to run away from them to lose aggro. Yeah let's see how it all develops. :) I was KoS'd 2 times from the day I started, nothing special, lost a couple of beans and a fireaxe, but i generally avoid the beach so i get into firefights pretty rarely. People towards the center of the island also tend to be more friendly then the campturds around the spawn :D
  18. Oh God, I can't wait for the weapons to get fewer and fewer and if they manage to prevent server hopping the taste of victory will be soooo sweet. No more server hoppers gearing up getting to the beach to shoot helpless newspawns because if the die they actually have to work to get their gear up again. Yeah I look forward to this day with great joy... ^_^
