You'll find dicks in every online game. Someone's day always gets better when they ruin someone else's. It's just how modern society is. -
I read on a post somewhere that since this most recent patch, players have been finding food less often than before. However, it's there. I was on a server last night and found plenty to keep me going. I think you just had bad luck. Try playing on a low-population server. You might not be able to keep what you find after you log out, but you can at least expore and get a feel for what the game is like. Also, find maps and other tidbits of advice by doing Google searches for DayZ.
