If H1Z1 will have squads and clans at early access why ...
sdry replied to Demonio (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Wow have you played it? Big words from dude whose own product is total piece of shit at the moment. I love this "This is tROO survival game, realistik, etc." bs. Making locating and identifying your mates almost impossible just add to annoyance, not challenge. If you cant tell your best friend from foe is realistic, I whish all the best whit your down syndrome. Like that retarded middle mouse scrolling and clicking interface, scatter hand signals around the F buttons etc. But perhaps they add it when they got zombie path finding and net code sorted, what they told they were fixing a fucking year ago. Watching this games development it's like watching someone climbing a tree ass first. Feeling scammed to be honest. H1 couldn't come fast enough. You can enjoy your 40 player "mmo" experience guessing who is who. -
Wow that is a huge issue that needs to be addressed immediately! Do you work for BIA by any chance? Would fit in just fine. Anyhow about the new patch: Why you even bother whit experimental branch? It's in line whit previous patches: add couple of new things, break bunch of things that worked. And release it late ofc. Wasn't there supposed to be hunting at this point of your "roadmap"? And will you GTFO whit 40 player cap. These has been games whit bigger player count since 90's ffs. You have been rewriting that network code for 4 months by information you have given so some results would be nice. Checking back again in 1-2 months if h1z1 isn't released, but just try to get your shit together.

New zombie animations in testing (they are considerably faster). We will be engaging with the community to decide if these new animations result in the zombies being too fast." Now that would be good idea if: - Zombies couldn't walk and see trough walls and floors like usually. These walking corpses track your ass down better than any human. - You could kill them whit melee weapons. (20 hits to face whit hammer or shovel does jack shit). Currently at fresh start you can just run until they eventually give up. Rubberbanding/lag/warping is still there, when you do the usual 20 minutes of running to ne airfield. At the beginning it's all smooth and pretty much everything else works better than before. Just hoping you get player cap to least 100 when you get netcode properly sorted. edit: sprinting whit shovel (any 2 handed weapon?) makes less foot sounds than supposed.

Detailed Information Summary From Rocket's Eurogamer Live Stream
sdry replied to iBane's topic in General Discussion
dawww.... Noticed this rare online game where you probably won't make any new (online) friends. I have met several peaceful gamers, who I have traded and traveled whit. It's bit sad you will never see them again, unless having long conversation about steam account names and crap. It's not helping that player list on game is bit fucky not showing steam names, but computer user account name instead. (or something like that.) Perhaps you could see other players name when really close and have other interactions to choose from. (trade, send steam friend sequest, brofist, lol) -
Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
sdry replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Hope net code gets some tweaks too. Hit detection seems quite random on bullets and specially melee. I don't even bother going melee against zombies, because hitting them eg. whit a axe seems completely random, and if hit, it takes often several seconds before targets gets the damage. (ping under 60. 100/100mb connection.) Another thing is dropping stuff to the ground can still take from seconds to minutes. "did it fall under the ground again? oh shi..... Oh there it finally is!" seems routine. Finally one hour seems to be ultimate maximum playtime on any server at this state, before I get yellow chain icon and "no message from server in xx seconds". Often way more early. -
agreed. Adding new "stuff" in code in any form can fuck up something else, like on this update. Development looks like the mod, add shitload of useless stuff on every update without properly fixing old issues. Not sure about that combat logging/server jumping penalties either. Joined some GB server, spawned at beach without gear. Thought server wasn't connected to the hive and picked some SE server what usually works. Got "spawning on 300 sec." message. After waiting, same thing. Everything lost at the beach. Great... So guess should have waited till next patch. Nice to know.

IDEA to end mindless KOS - psychological/physical consequences of murder
sdry replied to roninhg's topic in Suggestions
um, nope. There is a reason why murder is illegal =D Seriously though, there has been plenty of studies of this. For example, they studied some african country's brutal civil war. How come regular people could kill countless civilians whit no mercy. What they noticed is that first kill stings a bit, but after that there is phenomenon what they called "killer must keep killing". Basically after first blood, killing more people keeps your shit together. On that sense, dayz is perfect portray of some nasty locations of the world =D If you put bunch of ordinary people on closed space whit 100% authority to do whatever they feel like, all sorts of "lord of the flies" like tribalism occurs fairly quickly. That's why I sorta like dayz, because its you and perhaps couple of buddies you know versus the world Therefore I don't KoS is not an "issue" what needs to be fixed. It's part of the game imo. Personally I dont usually kos and avoid all interaction whit randoms altogether. -
What do we really want as far as Character Progression?
sdry replied to crimsonbzd's topic in Suggestions
character skill tree = big no no imo. Other stuff mentioned they are already planning / working on. There will be beards, visibly worn gear and clothes etc. This sounds pretty cool, if every character in game looks totally unique longer they survive. Hopefully visible scars, bandages, splints and others too at some point. edit: I wouldn't mind tents sometime soon. Don't think they would make game too easy. After all they can be looted by other players if found and there is bit of challenge to get there after death or find if properly hidden. -
I agree 100% on both things. It would add lot to this game, but afraid it's not technically possible. Anyhow bunch of noobs are crying already game is too hard =D
-
Still looking for one proper use for walkie talkies. Why would I chat whit some random a hole? "come here so I can shoot you"? Use those whit your buddies instead of TS whatever and make shitload of noise? Listen internet radios? Plz don't waste your time whit walkies. At least this state of developement. Personally probably never will bother to waste inventory space for radios, headset and other crap.

not happening. check project zomboid for that shit

Nether game got simple skill tree and permadeath. It just blows in my opinion. After a while, I didn't even bothered distributing the skill points for tenth time after dying from the beginning. Losing all your shit sucks enough. Like someone said, skill tree means grinding more or less. (I can imagine ppl hurting their mates and then healing them to gain healing skill or whatever.) I think rocket man stated somewhere that your gun and gear are your "levels" and that's it. This not MMO or certainly not RPG (unless you want to "roleplay") (not saying op has bad ideas. Just not coming anytime soon. Perhaps after they add mod support.)

agreed. Also rain would make your clothes soaked if standing outside in the rain/storm. This would give raincoat a real purpose. Clothes would dry up over time, but you could accelerate it by drying them on campfire or something. Not sure would this get frustrating or "too realistic". Anyhow, if would courage players to look for shelter and move around. More radical way to keep people moving could be toxic clouds roaming around, what you should avoid all costs unless having working gas mask. Dangerous animals too. Anyhow some people play this game logging in to some sniper hill, shoot stuff and just lay there forever without a worry in the world.
