I voted "I don't kill on sight". My reasoning behind this is fairly simple really, and I'm sure a decent number of people will agree (as I've come across many players with the same reasoning). I'm one of those people who make this decision solely based on the circumstances. Most times I'll leave a fellow survivor alone, even if I have a weapon and they don't. The only time I really KoS is if I'm at a known PVP area, for example: NE Airbase, Military Bases, Cherno, Elecktro. The reason behind this, is because if you're here, you're looking for weapons (Guns normally). In my experience, being here with an "unknown" and making yourself known to them results in a fight 99% of the time. I don't KoS if I don't have to, but if I have good reason to believe they WILL KoS me no matter what, I'll take them out. You could say I'm a circumstantial survivor - not "Hero". Although if I should die, and I see a bunch of "Bambies", if you will, at the shore just fist fighting - I'm always glad to jump in and have a bit of fun too :D

Could have sworn the stretcher bed frame near the end of the clip was a gun barrel for a second lol

Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)
w0lf3x replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
What are you getting fps-wise with the gtx 690? -
Now I'll say before I continue - I searched on the forums and couldn't find much on this. Advanced bandaging - It's simple really. When you bandage yourself it would be pretty cool to have to actually bandage where you got hit. Say you hit tab and it shows "arm and chest", you have to bandage the arm you got hit and the body (Using more/less bandage percentage/#'s depending on wound area). Tried to leave it simple and short to leave room for more sub-suggestions :)

I'm not 100% sure but I think they just made it so the spawns are rare in the tents - otherwise they're just removed until they figure out loot possibilities

Morphine? Yea, me and my buddies found about 5-8 in Berezino yesterday. It's just knowing where to look is what gets you what you want.

Svetlojarsk is loaded... although a lot of people are experiencing fps probs there since the update. Otherwise Berezino is another optimal choice; Just watch your back there...

Critical Unplanned Update of 0.34 to Stable 7 February 2014
w0lf3x replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
No idea... before the patch I was able to go there no problem. That taxi building might be part of the problem; My friend found 14 Hard protector case boxes there yesterday along with 3 sks's a blaze 95 rifle and a bunch of other attachments >_> -
Critical Unplanned Update of 0.34 to Stable 7 February 2014
w0lf3x replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Really? I guess people are having different problems than others.. The only thing I found that was bad was Svetlojarsk; Get within 1200m and I lag right down from ~65 to ~5-9 fps and its permanent until I leave the area and go to a different server. Don't really have the sound issues you're enduring though. -
Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.34.115106
w0lf3x replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
The only main problem I have encountered so far was in Svetlojarsk. Me and a few friends went there after raiding the shipwreck to find some more attachments, gear, etc. Once we got there our frames dropped dramatically. It was pretty crazy going from a normal 50-65 fps in towns down to about 3-12 fps. We eventually got tired of it so we left the town maybe about 1200 meters but the fps drop didn't resolve itself; Ended up all moving to a different server and it was fine, up until we went back to the town. In other words DONT GO TO SVETLOJARSK. Pretty much the fps drop is permanent until re-log. One other small problem I got was I was killed by a player, went to respawn and I was stuck (Just like a lot of other people) in the middle of the ocean - dead (Pressed Esc and I could see where I was). This was easily resolved for me but yea... that was pretty annoying on its own. P.S. When will there be a good hotfix/patch for this? Things were fine before; Should have just kept things normal and on schedule -.- -
radio voices ? family tax splitting ??? QUESTION
w0lf3x replied to rotteck's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm not sure. I encountered something like this a couple days ago - They were playing just random songs and I was at the shipwreck. No one was inside or out (Had a few of my friends check the perimeter). I do recall being in a server for about 5 minutes a week before and I heard a voice say "That's it, I told you guys" then everyone was kicked off the server. I could have been the server owner doing a global chat with his mic or something. If that's not the case then this game has serious bugs with the voip lol -
You know... if you hit the space button you can swing your axe forward instead of swinging it to the side lol :P

Critical Unplanned Update of 0.34 to Stable 7 February 2014

So, I just went in-game after the auto-patch on steam to see only 4 servers (Yes I'm on the stable/original client not experimental). I'm not 100% sure, but does that mean the other servers have shut down for updating and will be on later today/tonight? -
I like the idea... at least it gives people a reason to actually be neutral to each other. C'mon, I know we all like realism but we can't do that and not expect the game to be a huge TDM. Plus whats the point in not having a full functioning map if everyone uses maps on the internet lol

Is there a benefit to surrendering gear?
w0lf3x replied to Pr0jectseph's topic in New Player Discussion
Depends on the situation.. I was held up by two guys and all they told me to do was answer two riddles correctly the first time and they would let me free. Didn't loose anything; All I gained was a rotten kiwi lol Really it depends on their gear. You can take a risk at how well they are able to utilize what they've got and run, or play it out to see what's going to happen. I normally find if I'm being held up by guys with axes I normally run around them and knock them out b/c I have the upper hand; faster movement (since they have their axes wielded). More times than not though, you'll find you fight or run... otherwise you will die. -
If Combat Logging is going to be fixed...
w0lf3x replied to MagneticToast's topic in General Discussion
I really like the idea for the combat logging since those people are really annoying, but what about the people who just want to log off for the night? I mean, it's not really fair if you're just logging and not bothering anyone -then suddenly someone stalking you decides to just shoot you while you're sitting. Maybe it's just me, but that small bit just doesn't sit well. Should have some kind of timer to if you're shot at you aren't allowed to log but if nothing for say 10-15 minutes then it should let you immediately disconnect. Don't know if my point is too clear here though... -
I've lost count seeing it really doesn't matter to me... I normally just go on a daily basis since I'm not at all someone who just goes hunting for players. With ~65 hrs playing time I'd have to round it off to about 10-15 players - None were ever friendly fires, my targets are always identified and confirmed before shot (unless provoked obviously) Sad enough to say, some people were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, there was one guy I had handcuffed. Me and my little group were about to let him go and he says "Once I get out I'm going to hunt you all down and kill you all". So we took that as an idle threat and killed him on spot. Not sure how many of you would be fond of that, but as we all know you really can't take your chances in this game. However, I can gladly say I've met more friendlies than hostiles. More times than not I'll give a fresh spawn a gun (with no ammo obviously) if they're willing to walk the opposite way - Only time this happens is if I feel like saving a freshie from a fight... Yes, I like saving people from douchebags lol

You need my beanz, NAOW!

Unsure if you were watching the DayZ Mod, or DayZ Standalone but this is the Standalone version forums, and DayZ SA doesn't have building features implemented yet so no one can say for sure to be honest.

The title is really just the beginning of this suggestion, but if put into consideration I'm sure the devs would have a fun time with this idea. Now here's the idea. After hunting, woodcutting, crafting, and all those goodies are eventually put in and possibly fine-tuned, how about having more "primitive" weapons? Here's the focal point - You kill a deer, elk, moose, buffalo, whatever... but not only taking its meat; you utilize every part of it (seeing you're in a survival situation). Take the bones too! Use rocks or already existing tools to shape the bones into a knife, arrowheads, spear-tips, etc. While also doing this, making bows, handles for knives, arrow-shafts out of the wood you've cut and maybe using hair or string you've found throughout the map for bow string. Here's some photos of what I'm talking about: http://flic.kr/p/bBbXSS| http://flic.kr/p/8uWJ5D (For some reason none of the image options are working for me, nor the code thing) Just an idea... and making more "modern weapons" less common in a post-apocalyptic world would be nice seeing most of them would probably be just in military bases or just plain ruined. Not sure, just a suggestion. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time! :) -W0lf3x
-
True, but it wouldn't be just having a weapon already. You know you can make axes out of wood, string and rocks right? All of that could be started out by sharpening a rock on a harder surface (possibly a harder rock or whatever) and from there upgrading. Yes, it's possible to get some kind of axe before-hand but I'm speaking from a point of view in case you can't find anything - not to mention if they decide to make those more 'luxurious" items a little less common. No I'm not saying we should go full caveman but a little more survival aspect would be cool. Good point though Applejaxc.

For those of you with the "Flare gun alarm" idea... don't you think it would be something that would also attract nearby zombies? I mean, they generally aren't quite and on top of that there's the bright light that would probably attract them - especially in the dark. So not just the attackers coming to the camp, you'd also have zombies (Which I'm sure will be more terrifying in the future)

Mess with overall resolution with your pc and the game itself. I used to run on 1920x1080, now I just put it down to 1600x900 - about 10 fps increase for me. Then there's the Steam Launch and the notepad tweaks http://dayzintel.com/dayz-standalone/dayz-standalone-performance-guide After that, turn your HDR Quality to lowest - that's about another 10-15 fps increase, turn off clouds; they're about useless - another 5-10 fps there. Because of these I get 45-50 fps in cities and about 80-90 fps in the sticks and smaller towns ^_^

Is It Worth Seeing Beginners Guides On Youtube? (Qestion)
w0lf3x replied to Rassigp's topic in New Player Discussion
Depends on the guide. There's really no harm if you watch a guide to get a "head-start" and learn something; They're up there for a reason. Just, for the love of F*CK don't copy someone else's play style... you'll find it doesn't work nearly as good for you. Mostly just get the point of health, energy, blood, etc and what you can do to regain it. Learn what things you can attach together and the effects. Lastly learn where all the good looting places are. I would say learn the game by yourself, but that can be quite tedious if you aren't good at "figuring thing out". -Happy DayZ -
I feel like if the anti-combat logging system comes into place you have so long after being shot at till you can log out. If you try to log before the time is up it's the "easy way out". Should just have the player commit suicide if they log before the time is up... easy solution - you be a pansy, you commit suicide. Seems like a fair trade right?! I mean, if you have bad cover when shot at or shooting with an unclear strategy, that's your fault for not being cautious/dropping your guard and thinking things through.
