Here's a tip. Consider the resolution your whole computer is using. EX: When I right-click on the desktop and go to "screen resolution" I'm set at "1920 x 1080 (Recommended)". I noticed if I put that down a bit, then went in-game and configured those correctly I got at least a 20-30 fps increase. Running most towns and cities at about 50+ fps and around 80+ fps in the sticks (depending on what I'm looking at of course) Now obviously since the last patch all the notepad tweaks anybody did have been reset so re-do those as needed. Not to mention if you go into your Steam Library and set some launch options that can speed up the game too. Oh, and if you run the game on an SSD instead of an HDD it'll also increase render loading and game loading times bit a noticeable difference. Hope this helps, if you need any help with these just send me a PM :)

DayZ is NOT fun for new players, which makes me worried.
w0lf3x replied to Murakamo's topic in General Discussion
I just got this game not too long ago, and the only relation I have to it is playing Arma II for a short time. Never played the mod, however I have watched quite a number of videos from the mod so I've got a good idea on what to do, where to go, etc. Just for the record, I'm not one of those Shoot on Sight pansies. It can be quite vigorous at first but in time it gets easier and more enjoyable. Once they implement vehicles and ways of faster transportation there really won't be a point in the "friend-spawn" idea - though I would love to see something like that put in. If your friend can't quite "get in the groove" at the moment, just wait until the game progresses further and try at it again. Honestly this running 2-3 hours to find someone is something intended to make the game seem more "survivalistic" if you will; However all we can do at the moment is just keep throwing the devs ideas, and maybe something will be implemented later on in the future to make things a little easier (While other parts will have to be harder to make up for it I'm sure). -
If you're complaining solely on the Zombie AI and the numbers, I have no pity for you. You can't just fix it overnight, there's so many variables that have to be added in, revised, edited, repeat. I give them till 4th of July (since it's closer to their promise of 2015) to have things running a bit better. It's your choice to leave, but if things go as planned you'll be missing out quite a bit. Now go to Infestation, then you'll see how much potential this game really has. Good luck on your journey - kind of.

What's the difference between Regular & Hardcore?
w0lf3x replied to the_daddy2009's topic in New Player Discussion
The main difference I notice it that you can only use 1st person view. Not to mention it's on its own hive so anything you do on "Hardcore" is saved on that hive. EX: You have are fully kitted on a Normal, and you go to Hardcore you won't have anything carried over. All progress done on one won't be carried over. It's almost like having two different game saves. -
Now before any of you start flamming and saying "Use teh surtch buthun", I tried.. nothing found. I've got a little time in on this game, but yet really have no idea how to regain blood. I know you can get a blood transfusion if it's the right blood type, but are there any other ways? I tried the saline injection with a buddy of mine the other day, but it didn't seem to do much at all, if anything. Thanks for any helpful replies in advance! :)

Looks nice, but can it actually play Dayz with anything more than 50 fps anywhere? Doubt it >.> Sorry

Huh, this helped greatly. Thanks much! :)

I just killed my first innocent survivor... And I feel terrible.
w0lf3x replied to Hagon94's topic in New Player Discussion
Eh, we all have our guilt moments (except the 12 yr olds who go around killing for no reason). Though I do occasionally find the bambi who wants help, so I help them out... but in the end they try attacking me once I find them a melee weapon (never ends well for them). There's really only two things you can do... Kill on sight in self-defense to ensure they won't harm you, or have faith in humanity and try to group up. For the most part if a player is unarmed or only has a melee weapon I try to be friendly but if someone has a weapon I'm personally not as faithful; The second they point the gun in my direction is when problems start. Funny how a game can effect your feels irl huh? lol -
1.) Don't go for the head... zombies are too bugged atm to bother, just take body shots and run in a circle around them. Find a fireaxe - it's a one-hit kill even at the body. 2.) Most likely, yes but if you're desperate take a quick run through. Eventually you'll learn what houses normally have what. Just never go in the one story green buildings or the log cabins (they rarely have anything) 3.) As of now loot only respawns at server restart. Most servers are set on a 4 hour restart but it depends on the server. Most will either tell you in the server title or in the server message once you get in-game. I've seen some with 30 minute restarts all the way up to 8 hour restarts so choose which one suits your needs/interests best. I believe it was said that later on a timed respawn system will be implemented for loot but it's not in as of now (obviously) If you have any further questions, just ask :) -Happy gaming

"Man up and go toe-to-toe" ... yea, we're just gonna walk right up to a guy with a gun in our face - you're so intelligent. You have 3 choices; 1.) Do what they say and die afterwards 2.) Try to run away which is dumb because unless you're near cover, you aren't getting away - even with the zig-zag tactic 3.) Cut your losses and try to fight it In all honesty your reply was more childish and "snide" than anything. Putting someone down because they defended themselves? That's low man.

Great suggestion man, you have my beans! ;)

Quick Question about DayZ's Character System.
w0lf3x replied to Konahri's topic in New Player Discussion
Like you said, and we all know... it's Alpha. There will be a logout timer once the servers are more stable and such so people can't just combat log or server hop so easily, but that's in time to come. Honestly imo they should make it so if you're in a town/common loot spot that you be teleported out of the town a bit so you don't just loot, server hop, spawn, loot, repeat. This way it's much more time-consuming and "riskier" (depending on which spot you're at). -
I don't care how rare it is, im not wearing it :P
w0lf3x replied to Ineedscoffee's topic in New Player Discussion
No offense, but chances are nobody will trade on here unless there's a trading outpost implemented. If you even remotely have a weapon (let alone a firearm) you'd be shot/killed before or right after trade. Personally I'd love to trade but people are too hostile on here... Then again I can't really blame them. -
Why so many bandits? How to deal with them?
w0lf3x replied to Catalpa's topic in New Player Discussion
There really isn't much you can do at all with bandits. They either take you hostage and steal your stuff while poisoning you, or they shoot on sight... The best thing you can do is stay the hell away from the coast, away from the main cities such as Elektro and Cherno. Those two places are normally always filled with bandits. If you're getting killed way too much, search the coast for any food at all. If you don't find anything then just jet in-land and go to a few small towns there. Normally there's not many people in-land because they're all busy going straight to the airfield(s) or going to major cities. Once you're more geared up you can take the risk of going to "more populated" places. Oh, firehouses... go there for pistols to start with. -
As of now, no... no benifits.
-
They're mostly aesthetic at the moment. However I did notice if I had some type of boots on my footsteps seemed to be a bit louder; More-so on metal and concrete surfaces in buildings.

Not sure if it's me, but I'm not hearing audio and all of the audio is fine on my PC. EDIT: nevermind, im dumb lol twitch was muted for some odd reason lol disregard
-
Agreed... shouldn't just say something and not back it up; C'mon, this is the internet.
-
I'm not entirely sure why this is showing, nor how to remove it. It comes up after every time I get in-game. Please help? It's not a huge problem, but it's getting annoying tbh..

Don't see any specs or any link going to the pc you're looking at purchasing.

Development priorities and the latest patch
w0lf3x replied to Ravenblade86's topic in General Discussion
Just read this entire thing, and it's quite a read tbh. Many people seem to grasp the idea that it IS only Alpha, yet expect huge differences in every patch; Such as with games in beta and complete release games. In reality this game may not be up-and-running like say the mod for instance until late 2014 - early 2015. I can kind of grasp how the dev team is mapping out the road though. It seems (to me) like they want to put in a fair amount of weapons, food, etc to get somewhat of a foundation down... then afterwards refining everything to the vision(s) they have. Like Rocket had mentioned, they are "low-manned" atm (if of course I'm interpreting that right) so thing WILL be slow right now. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more improvements in the next few months as they are hiring more people to help work on it. If you think about it, the money we spent on getting early release is also helping them hire more "man-power" so to speak to get things rolling possibly faster. All-in-all, great read and also cleared things up a little better :) -
This night time stuff is very annoying...
w0lf3x replied to DeadTooRights's topic in New Player Discussion
I like Awruk's idea... although some kind of moonlight would be great. Very rarely do i see a working street lamp (though that's kinda expected in a post-apocalyptic world).
