What do you consider "optimized" performance?

I agree on the pole answer, ultimately with the existance of oculus rift you *need* 60fps constantly, so that needs to be the target for optimizations on higher end systems. If my older 955BE and R9 270 maintains at least 30fps in cities in the finished version, I'll be okay with that.

    Scope damage?

The more damaged the scope, the less accurate it will be when it comes to the LRS. I haven't noticed any difference between worn and pristine, but I rarely fire at 800m, normally closer to 400-500m but at that range, they both seem extremely accurate. With damaged and worse scopes, you should take some practice shots and see where the bullet lands, them aim using that spot rather than the crosshairs, or just keep hunting till you find a worn or better one.

What do you consider "optimized" performance?

Why exactly is the size of the map detrimental to framerates to such an extreme? The game shouldn't be actively rendering the entire game world, only what's within visual distance should be directly effecting performance; at most it should be caching data for stuff outside visual distance in RAM, which shouldn't have anywhere near the effect on performance we're currently seeing. Considering even moderate computers like my own see similar performance in built up areas to much more powerful PCs, I'm inclined to think that the majority of the FPS issues we're seeing have little to do with anything clientside and have more to do with the unusual server driven architecture of Standalone, hopefully as multithreading and 64bit support come in for DayZ servers, we'll see noticable improvements, couple that with fixing the issues like occlusion culling and hopefully framerates will reach less painful levels. All that said, blaming the size of the map is just an easy, ready made excuse and isn't exactly a convincing one.

    Glitchers - dayin and dayout

You're very lucky, I'm averaging one ever couple of days. Glitchers are constant, every single game play session.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

That is exactly how I'd describe third person, a safety net for people unwilling or unable to play the game without one. it's like a training mode or a bike with stabilizers.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Zombie Jesus Christ, back in my DayZ trolling meant something. If you're serious about thinking 3pp requires more skill, then that's even more amusing. Tracking people in 1pp is MUCH harder, simply because you can't maintain constant line of sight on your target from behind cover, you need to expose yourself to the possibility of being spotted to keep eyes on someone.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

You answered your own question, the answer is simply "because it fixes the problem." For all the wordplay and talk, that's precisely what certain 3pp players want to avoid happening.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Perhaps I'm just tired of seeing perfectly good logic wasted on people who blatantly only care about maintaining their favorite unbalanced & unrealistic advantage. It has all been said already, the cases have been made and I for one am tired of repeating myself to deaf ears.

    Stories?

I wouldn't mind a stories sub forum, could prove interesting.

    Glitchers - dayin and dayout

That's exactly the problem, it's functionally impossible for players to report hacking and it's nearly as impossible for admins to remove hackers from their servers manually. The devs haven't provided us the tools for the job yet, unfortunately.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Anyone else noticing that the 1pp comunity wants to solve problems and find solutions to unbalanced PvP and the 3pp community just throws a hissy fit at the thought of having their magical camping periscope taken away? Edit: I say 1pp community, but what I really mean Is people who would play on either hive, if only 3pp wasn't an abuse ridden campfest.

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Absolutely and totally agree. 4th wall implementation on both hives please, devs.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

It's definitely getting worse, I've come across 3 hacked SKS and M4s (with the unlimited ammo thing) in the last few days, I also incountered a hacker at NEAF while overwatching with 2 friends before we risked looting, lucky we did too because he jerkily moved across the entirety of the runway from east to west in a very short period of time, luckily we managed to retreat and log off without being noticed. It's getting out of hand. <_< More definitely needs to be done to combat it, because it's rife at the moment. It's weird too, because hacking is far more damaging to DayZ than it would be to a FPS game, yet we as players have fewer ways to combat it, seemingly by design since the character names of people who kill us, or who we kill aren't shown.

    Is Dayz still the Anti-game?

Are we sure about that? That has been my major concern about storage since they first mentioned it.. the idea that the storage will become an insurance against death for the deathmatch brigade. If the storage stops existing once your character dies, I'm much happier with the idea.

    Glitchers - dayin and dayout

Just encountered a hacker on a 40pop nearly full hardcore server while overwatching NEAF with 2 friends. Moving jumpily at much higher than normal speed, holding an m4a1 and running down the runway towards the western prison building, we retreated and logged off in the treeline north west of Krasnostav. I didn't hear any gunfire from down on the airfield, but didn't think it best to stick around. <_< It's becoming far too common to see things like this lately.

    New Experimental?

Something i've noticed, sometimes the "eat" and "eat all" options will stop appearing and the on menus. Only way i've been able to solve this is relogging.

    Spawns

Still, it's a big map. The whole zone should be dangerous, not just 1 or 2 cities and the airfields.

Any way to raid a military jail with armed people in it?

Just how long do you envision this little standoff at the prison building lasting?

Any way to raid a military jail with armed people in it?

Generally when we're clearing these buildings in a two person team, my friend who prefers the m4 and shotguns breeches the main door crouched and I follow with my pistol (since I'm generally carrying a Mosin as a primary) standing upright, so I can fire over her head at the same target if required, once we reach the stairs she clears the ground floor while I back my way up the stairs to the second floor and check there, generally by the time I've cleared the hallway room she has finished clearing downstairs and watches the door while I clear the upstairs bunk room. Obviously that works only on 1pp hive, though.

    Spawns

Or they could just decentralize spawns, punish players for killing themselves with a respawn timer considerably longer than 30 seconds and have people play the game properly, instead of hopping servers for a weapon then going to Electro/Berizino/Whatever the current CoD kid hangout is. Currently you either go to those "DM-City" areas and get shot sooner or later or you go out into the wilds, which is abandoned because everyone else is playing in the coastal cities DMing it up, the problem here is that people aren't using the whole map, so currently the game doesn't function as a survival type game, which is the whole point of DayZ.

Any way to raid a military jail with armed people in it?

Assuming they're being typical wall peaking, camping scumbags, your best chance of successful surviving an assault on those buildings is not to bother in the first place, set up in a location where they're unlikely to be able to peak on you by wall leaning and then ambush them when they attempt to leave. Another option is, if you suspect they're being cheap bastards is to sit down and pretend you're logging out, then shoot them when they run out to attempt to kill you for your gear.

    Glitchers - dayin and dayout

Falling through walls/floors/ladders is like 75% at least for me.
  23. TheScruffyBandit

    Glitchers - dayin and dayout

Hackers will, or at least they run the risk of it. I very much doubt a single glitcher will ever get banned.

so is some of the foods bugged on EXP?

I have no idea how they even broke soda cans.

    New Experimental?

Anyone else noticing zombies are much more resistant to melee damage from fire axes now?
