Have people in this game gone insane?

More than 1km from the east coast is just me and the zombies and they're not exactly chatty. :(

Have people in this game gone insane?

I got killed by two 13 year old sounding Russians who seemed to only know the words "FU*K U NIG*ER" in English, since they shouted that around 20 times before my respawn. We could really do with purging the kids from the playerbase, this really isn't a game to let your children play.

    Bolota scouting

Ontop of the Commie blocks north east of balota if you have a LRS or Binoculars. It's also a good place to hunt snipers for a LRS of your own, if you're looking for one.

    Thread in defense of banditry

No, it isn't. You're talking about the way people misuse the term bandit, not what a bandit is. If I don't have anything to gain by killing or robbing you, I don't risk it because I'm a bandit, I'm using a valid, but slightly morally bankrupt method to prolong the life of my character. A sniper sitting above electro shooting newspawns is not a bandit, he's neither gaining anything or improving his chances of survival: In fact, he's reducing them since real bandits are likely to come along and take his sniper rifle away, since he's discharging it haphazardly. Being a Bandit is playing DayZ a certain way, KoS is *griefing* DayZ. People need to learn the difference, It could save your life if I ever need your fireaxe or can opener.

Murderer fits, if you're doing it just to grief them, then arsehole does too.

    Thread in defense of banditry

KoS and banditry are not the same thing. I wish people would figure this out.

    Soooo about Hardcore

Well done, you're a hilarious parody of 3pp babies, that's what you're aiming for, right?

    Soooo about Hardcore

I feel dirty every time I play on 3pp, because it's too damn easy to track and slaughter people without ever having to expose myself to risk. Personally, I like a challenge and it just isn't one if you never have to take a calculated risk yourself.

Will this custom pc be able to run DayZ?

 Well, my friend with a 2500k and two 760gtx in SLI gets 20fps (exactly the same FPS I get with a much slower 955BE and R9 270) in major cities but since you obviously a fine upstanding gentleman you couldn't possibly be full of sh*t, how very perplexing. You're aware of course that server side performance is currently a massive bottleneck on client side FPS, correct? What's that? You aren't?! Then Let me educate you: It really doesn't matter what system you're playing on currently, your minimum FPS will be heavily bottlenecked by both server performance and poor client side optimization and yes, you will have FPS in the low 20s in heavy load environments.

    Periscopes for Hardcore mode?

    Pocket mirror, duct tape, stick.

Will this custom pc be able to run DayZ?

It will run as well as DayZ ever runs, but you'll get down to like 20fps sometimes.

A Way To Fix Gamma Exploiting

Why can't we just have a screen configuration prompt at first launch and remove the in game "on the fly" gamma option?

    Handicap menu.

Pretty simple idea really. I would like to see selectable spawn handicaps, such as: *Food allergies: Certain foods would be detrimental to the health of your character and would be best avoided. *A missing eye, complete with a eye path and reduced peripheral vision on the side where the eye is missing. *A missing hand or arm restricting characters to single handed weapons. *Long term illnesses, which would require the player to regularly obtain and take medications to remain healthy. I fully expect this to receive a lot of flack, however it would be a great way for those of us who are struggling to find challenge within DayZ to place a handicap on ourselves and would also support and hopefully help foster a role playing community within the player base.

Why is pvp and gunfights so bad in stand alone?

the only clothing that SHOULD effect ballistic damage are items which are designed to absorb ballistic impacts, like the ballistics helmet. The fact that a tshirt helps reduce bullet damage is absolutely stupid.

Corpse running. Don't forget that, that's a major one.

Yeah quiet a lot more zoom in fact and abuse of that is very, very wide spread.

Why is pvp and gunfights so bad in stand alone?

One thing that needs fixing in standalone when it comes to shooting is the patching of the current widespread FoV abuse which is being used to gain extra magnification when shooting over range: It gives a pretty sizable advantage to people with a looser sense of sportsmanship. Besides that, I like the idea of better weapon resting: I don't see why I need to be lay prone to gain a benefit from my bipod, why shouldn't kneeling behind a small wall work just as effectively? Bullet damage across the board needs to be MUCH higher, to better replicate real life wound properties. Larger caliber rounds should producer higher tiers of bleeding, as should rounds which hit the chest with lower (but still substantial) tiers of bleeding for the arms or legs and high tier bleeding should be much harder to stop that it is currently. Getting shot with 5 rounds should also produce more bleeding which should harder to stop than getting shot with just 1 round of the same caliber. M4 and pistol accuracy and dispersion need a tightening up substantially, I'm not sure why the m4 is so much less accurate than the SKS carbine and pistols are much less accurate than their real world counterparts, too. The shotgun needs fixing so it's useful, I've seen people eat two barrels from a sawn-off at point blank range and get away with minor injuries and ruined gear. The Mosin (and future bolt action rifles) need a system where the first click fires a round, then the second click cycles the bolt and chambers the next round, currently it's a pain to spot where your bullet landed in relation to your target due the automated working of the bolt moving the weapon around right after the shot is fired. Weapon ranging should be able to go higher than 300 on ironsights and certainly with items like the PU scope attached. The PU scope should be adjusted to be 4.5 times magnification, rather than the current 3.5. The Long range scope should be changed to a 3d scope, instead of just being an overlay. Optics need adding for the blaze 95 and it needs to be adjusted to fire a single rifle round and a single shotgun round, with selectable modes. I'd really like to see the long range scope removed from the Mosin and instead be compatible with the blaze95, since if I remember correctly, the Mosin cannot usually mount that type of scope without modification, but the blaze can. That would also raise the skill level required for sniping, since you'd be unable to fire 5 rounds fairly rapidly at a target.. you'd instead have to make very sure to land your first shot and coupled with the adjustment to the PU scope and ranging system, would give more options for long range combat and force people to choose between an 8x scope and 1 (or 2, depending on if they implement my shotgun shell/rifle combo suggestion) rounds or a 4.5x scope and 5 rounds, or 10 lower velocity rounds in the case of the SKS. With these adjustments, long range combat would be possible with the PU SKS, ACOG m4, Mosin PU and Blaze LRS combos, all with very different weapon and bullet dynamics, SKS users would need to lead their targets more heavily than Mosin users and Blaze users would have more magnification, but far fewer rounds than the other options.

This is how dumb punching is in this game.

It's not dumb to be able to knock someone out with a melee attack to the head, it is however pretty silly that ballistics helmets do not protect from melee attacks when bike helmets and construction helmets do. The m4 ars*hole should be more aware of what's going on around him, I've never once been punched out by a Freshy, and I go around giving them guns when I'm bored (I haven't been shot with one of my own firearms either, yet... but mainly because I make it very clear that if the gun comes out in my presence I will put them down without a second thought). Also he should take a look at his life if he feels that shooting up fresh spawns on the coast is a suitable use of his time.

    Why I don't like DayZ

Is the sniper or his friends looting the corpses? It's very rare they do. If he isn't, he isn't a bandit.

    Why I don't like DayZ

Too many people think KoS and being a d*ck to freshspawns (on the rare occasion of meeting a freshspawn who isn't trying to punch you in the face) is the same thing as being a bandit. A bandit hunts, robs and if necessary kills players to gain items that are otherwise hard to obtain, regardless of if that's food, tools or weaponry, a true bandit is doing it to survive and as such, it's a valid tactic in DayZ. What isn't a valid tactic is sprinting to the first weapon spawn you can find, then going to whatever the current cookie cutter city happens to be and killing everyone you see, till someone kills you. One is a survival tactic, the other is CoD kids not understanding the purpose of the game they're playing.

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?

Unfortunately, a 10/22 is much more lethal in real life than it is in game, just like every other weapon.
  22. TheScruffyBandit

    Lol @ you

anyone logging in inside an airfield deserves both barrels anyway.
  23. the massive increase in the prevalence of hackers and glitch abuse is pretty new. I'd wait for awhile if all you want to do is play some DayZ.
  24. TheScruffyBandit

    Lol @ you

I don't even  I knew people in this game mostly had the marksmanship skills of an imperial storm trooper but that's just embarrassing.

    Lol @ you

Ah, fair enough then. I assumed he was already inside and you'd attempted to enter the building.
