So why was the axe nerfed?
TheScruffyBandit replied to Smokey420 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Many zombie movies use a virus as an explanation, they're not dead: They have some kind of rabies like illness that has driven them to hyper agression and cannibalism, it's not uncommon to call those zombies. That's also the official line for "Zeds" in dayZ, there is no reason why they would be more physically resilient than a healthy player, lacking pain reflex sure... that's fair enough, but a single axe to the head should kill them dead, as should a couple of swings to the body. -
I eat at fast food places quiet often and I've only had salmonella once and never e. coli! Can't be that high of a %, the average burger flipper doesn't even know what soap is.

I don't know why we even have experimental if stuff this simple makes it to stable without adjustment. -
Do you want pooping in this game?

... and this adds something of value to DayZ? How exactly do you think this will improve the game, because I'm really not seeing it. -
Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone
TheScruffyBandit replied to JimmyGate's topic in General Discussion
You'd have to be fanboying pretty hard to not be concerned about standalone as it stands. -

It's poo, It could be perfectly and tastefully implemented (which, lets be honest here...it won't be, people will be throwing it around like that one god awful bit from duke nukem forever) and it would still be a stupid and unnecessary mechanic that adds nothing of value to the game. -

This gameplay feature is literally and figuratively shit though. I can imagine how this is going to be animated on third person too, disturbing and I wish I hadn't... but I can imagine. Perhaps this is a ploy to get people to play hardcore? -

TheScruffyBandit replied to Jumbaliah's topic in General Discussion
The whole idea of pooping in a video game is pointless, silly and complete waste of developer time that could have been used to fix important core mechanics like giving us Zeds that function even remotely well and in decent numbers or unballsing up the shooting mechanics. <_< The fact that this even made it off the "bloody daft ideas" table gives me cause for concern. Edit: Or better yet the devs could have put those man hours towards doing something about the rampant server abuse, glitching and hacking besides shutting down threads about it in the hopes that nobody will notice. -
I need a SMLE, Bayonet and my red wool coat for when we're forcing people to sing "God save the Queen" at gunpoint. SMLE must happen.

When did I say it was little big planet? I love how when people can't come up with a proper argument against your point, they just invent their own and pretend like that's what you're saying. Now if killing someone helps you survive, do it... god knows I do, but running around like rambo, not giving a damn about survival is not what DayZ is about, if that's what you want to do then there are far superior games to get your enjoyment from. This game is a post apocalyptic survival game. It is not Call of Duty, it is not Battlefield with zombies, players should be attempting to make their character survive through whatever means necessary for as long as possible: How many kills you have is not and never has been the point of DayZ, survival is.

Hohoho

He isn't. You can't enjoy night while playing the game properly, because everyone else is abusing the gamma.

What processors better and Is hd 7770 enough for dayz?
TheScruffyBandit replied to Terminator75's topic in General Discussion
The intel will do better for DayZ. This game does not like piledriver/steamroller and isn't well multithreaded. For games with better multithreading support, the FX will normally perform better. Also, It doesn't matter what you buy, your frame rates in cities will be awful. 20-25ish minimum frame rate, but yes a hd7770 will do well enough for DayZ, however I recommend spending a little more and going for an r9 270, just for better performance at 1080p. -
What I don't get is why all weapons are spawning pristine. How many pristine mosins still exist? most of them are pretty much shot to sh*t, a pristine one should be pretty damn accurate, but most should be worn or worse. Groupings on m4 are stupid and need fixing. Weapon damage on everything is far too low.

PvP =/= KoS. :rolleyes:

No, any play style is not valid. This is a survival game, playstyles that don't improve or even consider the characters survival are not valid, hence the people making a mad dash for weapon spawns and then rushing for berezino to deathmatch are not playing any valid play style in DayZ: They don't care if their character dies 10 minutes after spawning, so long as they get a kill or two.

Generally I believe it's a lack of imagination and social skills, perhaps coupled with a perceived need to counteract some childhood trauma, most likely related to bullying. Either that or they're more heavily dyslexic than even myself and misread DayZ as Call of battlefield honor XIV.

In game video settings what do you use?
TheScruffyBandit replied to gianni001's topic in General Discussion
My 955BE / r9 270 system doesn't really go below 20fps, which strangely enough is where my friends 2500k and 760gtx SLI system bottoms out, too. Can't wait till they get the framerates sorted, well... IF they get the framerates sorted. -

Have people in this game gone insane?
TheScruffyBandit replied to gianni001's topic in General Discussion
Couldn't agree more, I get so tired of playing daycare to some lazy asshole's foul mouthed spawn. We have age ratings on games, for online games that should be enforced. I don't care if people let their kids play mature single player games, but if it's an 18 certified game you should be able to play it online without being forced to deal with loud, verbally abusive brats who want to try out all their cool new swears and express their dislike for people of colour and non-heterosexuals. Ruins my fun far too often. -

That's the entire playerbase at the moment, can run around coastal towns and see armed newspawns and unlooted food in every building, with all the weapons spawns picked clean. Why bother getting food when you're just going to die and respawn anyway? ;)
