Why don't Bohemia Interactive make Dayz for mac?
TheScruffyBandit replied to ace4's topic in General Discussion
The windows version is still in Alpha, obviously porting it across to new operating systems is something that comes much later in development even if the devs decide it's something they'd like to do. -
Discussion about weapon slots on your back
TheScruffyBandit replied to Zyryanoff's topic in General Discussion
The current system works as a placeholder, perhaps the long term goal should be weapon slings. -
I think I might have a problem with shotguns...
TheScruffyBandit replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
I killed a guy near novodmitrovsk the other night while derping around & looking for a friend, I shot him once with the IZH-43 which seemed to knock him out, I fired the second round to be sure, I'd estimate the range was 30 to 40 meters. Shotguns seem to be functioning pretty well for me from my limited experience with them. -
Helo crashes if I'm informed correctly.

In all honesty, I run a 2500k at 4.5Ghz and my framerate in cities still drops into the mid to low 20s in cities. Infact, I also have a second computer ([email protected]) and performance on both is broadly similar, within a few FPS. IMO, upgrading already decent hardware for DayZ doesn't make much sense, I'd personally wait for more optimisations to go live & just live with low FPS in built up areas (like the rest of us).

Anyone getting bored of Standalone?
TheScruffyBandit replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes I get bored (or rage-quit for awhile) and then I play something else, lately I've been enjoying the Nosgoth beta and of course, ARMA3. If you only really play one game, sooner or later you'll get sick of it, it's a good idea to mix things up. -
what do you think of the current inventory block system?
TheScruffyBandit replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to see the ability to rotate items so a 2x3 item could be rotated to take up 3x2 slots besides that I don't really dislike the current inventory system, It's certainly much better than the ARMA2 mod one. -
Personally I'd like to see mountain bikes first. Having said that, Killing somebody's horse and forcing them to watch while you gut, cook and eat the animal they spent hours taming, saddling and such would be interesting.

When I'm negative about DayZ it's because I genuinely want it to be a fantastic game, I'm harsh because I care.

I've found 3 since the 0.54 patch hit, that said they do feel a little rarer now.... however, that's likely because more weapons are now sharing the same weapon spawn points making the chances of finding a specific one less likely. Personally I think it's a good thing, In a survival situation people wouldn't be being particually picky about the firearm they picked up, just having a gun and some ammo would be the goal, so people having to use weapons besides the most favored ones (AKM, Mosin, SKS and repeater seem the most used weapons judging by people I've killed) is good news in my book. edit: As for the usefulness of the Mosin compared to other options, all things are situational. I like to use the Mosin + LRS when I'm playing in a squad to provide overwatch and I'll use a pistol, usually the CR75, 1911 or revolver as a "close in" or emergency breeching weapon. When I'm playing solo I often gravitate towards the SKS as it's easily found, a decent all rounder and doesn't require me to spend much time in dangerous, high value locations. One more unusual combo I've been messing around with lately has been the MP133 and the longhorn, since it's feels kind of backwards to me to have a "long range" handgun and a shotgun primary for close range, it takes me out of my comfort zone and that has lead to some interesting incounters.

Considering that I was saying that things *do* need tweaking for more realism, it would boggle my mind aswell.

To be fair, I doubt our characters are world class marathon runners either. I find it a little strange that our characters are the absolute peak of human physical health when it comes to running, but also have the muscle control of someone suffering a neurological disorder judging by the weapon sway. Now of course this is early access so I'm hoping neither endurance or weapon sway are the finished products, but yeah the current implementation of weapon sway isn't really realistic.

CPU makes a huge difference for gameplay
TheScruffyBandit replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
It does to a point, once you hit a certain level (basically any quad core) you're almost always limited by the server. -
"He who fights and runs away..."
TheScruffyBandit replied to petetheEat's topic in General Discussion
It's a survival game, there is nobody keeping score of your kills: sounds like a few people where are playing the wrong game, OP did nothing wrong. -
Berezino, or in a group camping NEAF.
-
It'll be fine, you'll get the same performance as everyone else who isn't running a potato.

Most of my experiences in the mod so far have been: bump into player, shootout ensues which I usually win, then around 10-20 seconds after they die my legs mysteriously break and I fall unconscious, despite having plenty of blood.
-
Aren't you glad you didn't get the order of those muddled up. ;)
-
you lucky bug*er! I've bumped into a few now and that's not even counting the glitched/hacked/whatever they are magazines I keep finding on people. :(

Daisy, Daisy, give me you answer true. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage. I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet. Upon the seat. Of a bicycle built for two. Bikes when!?!

They're right round the corner from me, good people.

I came across one guy camping the north fire station in electro with one, trying for his first kill: That's how I got my first crossbow.
-
Not really. The guns are less powerful than they should be, that's the problem.

Faster way to get military geared up?
TheScruffyBandit replied to DarkRattle's topic in General Discussion
I usually stick with an SKS on irons till I find a LRS now, I almost never go to airfields though and when I do, it's to camp an ATC and kill server hoppers on a low population server. Instead I prefer to get my LRS from someones corpse, even better it saves me finding a mosin, bipod and compensator. It's really not hard to catch snipers when they behave so predictably, which most of them in dayZ do. -
M9A1 Combat Knife: The new fireaxe
TheScruffyBandit replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
A guy tried this one me not long ago, he managed to get his revolver out... only to put it back away again. I had a good long chuckle, after I finished painting the wall with his internal organs.
