Do bandits really exist on DayZ Standalone?

I try. But considering EVERYONE would seemingly rather die than lose a bloody tin opener or some of their ammo, it's nearly impossible to bandit without resorting to shooting your target. They'll ALWAYS try their luck and resist. If they're really being a pain in my ass, and it's safe for me to do so... I'll kneecap them, bandage their wound so they don't bleed out and then leave them in the middle of nowhere with broken legs. Maybe that will teach them to listen to instructions the next time they're held up?

    Arma3 Third person fix mod...thoughts?

Obviously this is what's required. However you'll never sell the 3pp kiddies on it because the REAL reason they're using it is the exploitability of the current third person view system. They'll kick, scream, cry and complain anytime you try to address the 3pp abuse issue. They'll throw out fake, poorly constructed arguments, lie about motion sickness, claim it breaks immersion to have characters popping up that previously couldn't be seen, despite the obvious flaw in their logic; that following your character from 5 feet behind and seeing through walls also breaks immersion. They will try desperately to keep hold of their cheap little game breaking advantage, even if it ruins this game. So, what this is going to come down to is pretty simple: Do the devs have the guts to implement something like this, even if the 3pp community cries about it and costs bohemia some sales?

What I have been relegated to...

A few days ago I saw a guy who looked fairly fresh attempt to fight, then start running for his life from 2 zombies in Berizino. He was bleeding from two different spots. I had a mosin and a PU scope, I watched for a second and then decided to help him. I Killed the first zombie, then the second in two clean shots. After I'd fired my second round, the now confused newspawn guy notices me. I place my hand in the air as a greeting. He runs towards me still bleeding, tries to punch me in the face and accuses me of attempting to snipe him and being a c*nt. In the end I had to give him some .357 chill pills with my sidearm. The moral of the story? OP has a point, you can't be nice in this game & you can't interact with people without them trying to kill you. So, who's fault is that? It's YOUR FAULT, yes YOU, the guy reading this. Only the players have the ability to change this attitude. Is KoSing everyone really that much fun? I'm pretty good at this game and you know what? I find it boring as hell to just run around and shoot anyone I see without any interactions. (and yes, I know I have bandit in my name. But I tend to only bandit when I have a reason to and bandit =/= murderer, unless you're a threat, anyway.)

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

You can. Yeah. Once you own a game on Steam on your account you can download and install it as often as required.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Almost certainly not. The minimum requirement is a 3GHz athlon dual core, you're some 50% lower in clock speed on the same CPU architecture, it's just not going to run well. DayZ is also rather sensitive to memory bandwidth, so older memory controllers and slower ram like you'd find on older computers such as your dual core Athlon 64 system aren't going to do the game any favors. Time to upgrade my friend. Luckily it's intirely possible to build a decent rig for cheap these days. A new build, even a poverty mode one such as an athlon II 750 quad core, FN2 motherboard and 750/ti or r9 270 would still vastly improve your dayZ (and gaming in general) experience. and would likely cost you an affordable amount, If your graphics card is more recent purchase, you could even reuse that.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

For dayZ? There is no difference in performance between 6 or 8 cores. The game isn't capable of using that many threads. So, a 6 core and 8 core processor at the same speed will perform exactly the same. Stick with the 6 core if you already have that.
  10. Do you think they know there's already a pretty good co-op anti-zombie shooter available on steam in the form of Left4dead(2), without all that pesky realism commitment? Seems to be what people are pushing for, L4D: Open world edition.

    I was killed by zombies

What on earth are you talking about? I've always played the game the survival route. The new implementation of zombie respawns and the fact that it has come while they still have xray vision and no clip mode is just silly, kills immersion and reduces the number of potentially viable strategies to looting towns. If all you want is a simple jogging away from zombies simulator, it's ideal however.. since under the current system there's no incentive what so ever to dealing with zeds any other way and even if there was, while they see through walls and respawn instantly within a few dozen meters of where they're killed, it would be entirely a waste of time. Personally, I'd like the game to be challenging, complex and with a varied range of strategies for survival, not just tediously simple rinse and repeat smash and grab raids on towns, followed by a brief sprint away from zombies. I would have HOPED the playerbase would agree with me on that, but sadly it seems having to decide on the best approach and then execute it is too complex for many us.

    I was killed by zombies

Daww, look at this kid. He thinks zombies are a threat. Precious. The only thing the current patch has changed is that dealing with zombies in towns is entirely one dimensional, stealth is a waste of time, as is clearing out the area. So, smash and grab at high speed is the only remaining looting tactic. Don't kid yourself, Zombies are just as laughable in the current patch as before, just now there's no point in interacting with them at all. Just grab what you need and outrun them. Nice and simple for simple minded players, but robs the game of depth for everybody else. Mucho improvemento, don't you think?
  13. It isn't risky, not even slightly. The only danger in DayZ is other players and that's still the case now. Just be a retard and run through Leroy Jenkins style grabbing everything you can find. Zombies run slower than you do and path stupidly. The only thing the poorly implemented, retarded, xray vision, no clip mode zombies have changed is that it's now ineffective to attempt stealth and silently take out zombies around town. If anything, it has made the game less complicated. But hey, that's what a lot of you want, right?

    Where is everyone?

There are so many of those lately, I HOPE the devs are paying some attention to this problem and are working on a better way to report cheating & admin abuse and hopefully to start taking action more aggressively over admin abuse. however current evidence would seem to imply that they don't consider it a major issue, considering I've yet to see a server get taken down due to abuse. Still, What choice do we have but keep reporting them and hope someone takes notice?

    It has happened...

    Yep. It needs fixing, obviously.

    It has happened...

Finally! Atleast this guy gets it. I'm glad someone does. Have some bloody beans sir.
  17. TheScruffyBandit

    It has happened...

Again, the complaint isn't that it's hard. Zombies are still easy, but they're so broken in implementation that it kills many gameplay styles, like stealth for example. How is that hard to get your head around? Zombies are still easy. They're just poorly implemented and a pain in the ass.
  18. TheScruffyBandit

    It has happened...

Nobody is claiming it's too realistic or too hard, we're claiming it's too unrealistic and encourages "stupid" gameplay styles. All of which is true. You can't "stealth" around zombies currently, they can see you clear as day from 200 meters, while you're prone, with a building in the way. Silently killing them is useless, as they respawn right away in the same area and just aggro you again. So, what do people do? they ignore zombies. They run as fast as they can with no concern for stealth through a town, grabbing what they can, it's not like anyone will sneak up on you even if you're making no effort to stay hidden simply because you'll see the zombies aggroing another player even if he's completely out of sight. If you think this makes the game any harder, then you're kidding yourself. It doesn't, in fact it kills alot of the more skillful elements of playing this game.

    The new update is amazing!

Is this sarcasm? If not, It should be.
  20. TheScruffyBandit

    It has happened...

The current mess that is zombie implementation does nothing but make this game more of a casual, boring shooter with a jogging simulator built in.

    No Guns

So what you're saying is; The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Isn't Britain. I'm sure your parents must be very proud.
  22. TheScruffyBandit

    It has happened...

Zombies are not a threat, they are an annoyance. You'd have to be completely fresh or half-afk to die to them, the issues currently are: 1) they respawn right on top of you with almost no delay. This Kills immersion, gives away player locations, prevents stealth being a factor in gameplay. 2) they aggro through solid objects and can see you hidden in a tree, prone 400 meters away without a single problem. Obviously, there's no point attempting stealth around zombies on the current patch and their aggro will give your location away to players. 3)They still ghost through walls. Obvious why this is an issue. 4)With the latency & desync issues currently plaguing this patch, it's entirely possible to be hit by a zombie that is entirely invisible on your client, till suddenly the client gets updated and the zombie is beating on your chest. 5) look at a zombie through optics (at least with LRS) and they'll aggro you, even if their back is turned. Right now, the zombies are not adding threat to the game, they're just a pain in the ass stopping you playing it. The only tactic that current works for raiding a town with zombie spawns is to leroy jenkins your way through at full speed, train the whole bloody lot and then try to outrun them while grabbing any loot you spot. Which is outright retarded.

    No Guns

contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of legally owned firearms in the UK.

    Mouse acceleration = NO!

That's a funny way to say 3pp abuse, group play against solo opponents and a spare account to dupe more gear from as and when required. Because that's what generally happens when you watch these "pro player" types on twitch.
  25. TheScruffyBandit

    Mouse acceleration = NO!

The devs don't play the game and they don't care about what the player base wants. It's hardly suprising they didn't improve the god awful mouse controls.
