Same here, hardcore is far, far better... but when my characters been operating with friends and all our characters are logged off in the same place, sometimes I don't want to risk messing up the next nights game by getting myself killed or running 10 miles away, so I use the 3pp hive to keep myself amused till my friends are playing again, that way we can all get killed together.
-
It has. Farcry 2 and Stalker both have misfire mechanics.
-
I'm sure it will honestly, I only use 3pp for messing around when my friends aren't playing, so if they get all my gear I won't exactly be broken up about it. It wouldn't be fun without the risk though, would it?
-
They haven't succeeded yet, but it's not for lack of trying. I had one group of 3 who I warned of a sniper further down the road shooting newspawns call in a fully geared friend to hunt for me, I know this because the guy walked 5 meters behind me and didn't see me, before I taught him some 7.62x39mm etiquette.
-
I've been carrying pistols, axes and containers full of food to hand to friendly newspawns on my 3pp dicking around character. Unfortunately, trying to find a friendly one is like trying to find unicorn. The moment you approach one, they either run away or run at you with their fists out.

Why do .22 mags spawn exclusively in military loot pools
TheScruffyBandit replied to TheScruffyBandit's topic in Suggestions
Much obliged. Edit: I'd like to suggest adding the 10 round sporter magazine to the same locations as the shotgun and blaze snap loaders and the Amphibia S magazine to the same locations as the 357 magnum speed loader. I don't think anyone would complain about that. -

Thanks for taking the time to check it out. So, is the general consensus that this is a bug or a design choice? I'm quite happy to report this as a bug, if that's what you guys believe it to be. -

Why do .22 mags spawn exclusively in military loot pools
TheScruffyBandit replied to TheScruffyBandit's topic in Suggestions
You could, but you'd be asking me to prove that something doesn't exist, which is impossible and ultimately would boil down to the same argument that atheists and theists have been having for centuries. I could spend weeks and could check every building on every server and that still wouldn't prove conclusively that they NEVER spawned in those locations and anyway, it would far simpler for someone to post a screenshot disproving my claims if they happen to discover a magazine in a civilian loot pool. The best I could possibly do would be provide testimony to their absence based on my observations, which I have just done and by doing that, I consider my duty as a member of this community complete. I've provided my feedback and hopefully someone will take notice of it and take a look at the loot code and make sure it's functioning correctly, hopefully adding .22 magazines to civilian spawns assuming they find my assertion to be correct, which I have every reason to believe they will. As for reporting it as a bug, that was my original plan however I wasn't entirely sure that it was a bug, It could simply be that the development team intended these magazines to only spawn in military locations. Obviously, would be unrealistic but if that was the teams plan then the loot pools are functioning as intended and aren't bugged at all. So, I figured it better to suggest that they add magazines for these weapons in civilian pools rather than assume it to be a bug. Edit: I Just remembered that the Amphibia S magazines also spawn in fire stations, however I tend to think of those as low end military loot spawns, similar to the police stations. I've never seen them spawn in factories, barns, houses, shops or anywhere you'd expect to find civilian caliber firearms or magazines, which is strange because it's not uncommon to find shotgun, magnum and blaze95 snap/speed loaders in civilian houses, or boxes of .22 ammo for that matter. Ideally I'd like to see the 10 round sporter and Amphibia magazines spawning in higher value civilian houses, the type that often spawn ammo already such as the piano house. -
Certainly, although using smaller packs and traveling light already has advantages when it comes to camouflage.

found m4 suppressor and pistol suppressor in same tent..and....
TheScruffyBandit replied to shaeg's topic in General Discussion
It has been tested pretty conclusively to have the same 100 meter sound aggro range as every other gun, including the insanely loud SKS and mosin. -
To provide feedback on it and assess it for realism? Personally I think movement speed is too high, currently.. but I'd rather they didn't adjust it till we have more options than just wearing out our shoes for getting from A to B.
-
Oh god no. That would be awful.

Why do .22 mags spawn exclusively in military loot pools
TheScruffyBandit replied to TheScruffyBandit's topic in Suggestions
Have some evidence to back that up? I've never once seen one spawn outside police stations, airfields and military bases, nor has anyone I know. I think you're mistaken. The weapons certainly spawn in non-military locations, however the magazines seem to only spawn in the military loot pools. -
Anywhere people spawn is DM city, CoD kiddies aren't going to run a 100km just so they can get their nuts blown off by a sniper, are they? They'd rather hang around with the freshspawns and waste hundreds of rounds of m4 ammo failing to shoot the poor, unarmed bastards.
-
bandits don't shoot someone they plan to rob in the legs, the way dayZ metagame is atm, people are keeping their best stuff in their trousers. If you've got a gun in your hand, we shoot for the head or failing that, center of mass. If you've got no gun in your hands, we may try robbing you and leaving you alive, but unarmed.

I had to read it several times before I noticed what'd changed. Damn you dyslexia. :D

How do you know he doesn't go in for that? You could accidentally introduce him to the love of his life. Then you'll have to go to his wedding, maybe even be his best man... It'd be a whole big deal. Also, don't go acting like an angry, homophobic child. You'll only embarrass yourself.
-
Let it go, don't be a babeh about it, all you'll do is give him a good long chuckle and some free pizza.
-
You seem to have met a proper bandit, he used you and then when he'd finished using you, he disposed of you. I'd rather this than KoS.
-
Normally I'd give you shit for 3pp abuse, but against a hacker and wall glitcher I'll pull a Churchill and say a a favorable reference about Stalin on this one, since there's a bigger enemy to worry about. You can't win against these guys though, best bet is to just stay away when you suspect they're in an area. The problem is, we can't even report hackers and glitchers and it's hard for server admin to kick them, since DayZ doesn't tell you the name of the player who just killed you, they could be anybody.

Experimental - You Can Zoom While Looking Down Sights!
TheScruffyBandit replied to Admiral_69's topic in General Discussion
How much zoom. If ironsights give greater magnification than say a PU scope... then that's pretty stupid. -
If a fresh spawn attacks you, kneecap them. They don't care about dying because they'll respawn again in 30 seconds normally, if you kneecap them... bandage them up and leave them to starve to death or crawl for half an hour looking for a suicide method then they'll have plenty of time to think about what they've done.

Very good idea. Lets hope the devs are listening.
