Can't even get on the servers anymore, I'm seeing 5 for all of europe and 0 for the UK. Also doesn't help that they haven't told us what new features will require testing, so we're guessing what they've tinkered with. The only item related change I noticed is that canned drinks don't seem to give any hydration anymore.

It's nothing to do with how I choose to play the game. If I like 3pp or not does not change it fitting the definition of metagaming. Hell you even confirmed it yourself when you said 3pp should be considered "out of character" which *is* what metagaming is, or do you think you're playing someone standing 5 feet behind the character you see on your screen? Are you role playing as a ghost haunting the poor bastard? :lol:

Not entirely, but if an item would be overpowered if exploitation happened and you can't be sure of preventing that exploitation from becoming widespread then serious consideration needs to be given to if adding that item is the correct choice, at least until the ability to combat said exploitation improves. Basically I think adding an AS50 type weapon to DayZ in its current state would be disastrous and I don't see the duping and hacking going away anytime soon. However if it did get brought under control and marginalized I would have no problem with 50cal Anti-Material rifles existing in small numbers with extremely rare and valuable ammunition.

No, by that logic the developer should *consider* the possibility and effects of potential abuse before adding a new item or function. Which is something every good developer should be doing anyway.

The hive won't be deleting duped items, it will most likely regulate the levels of these weapons by simply stopping them spawning once a certain number are in the population. That doesn't stop people duping them or gaining them by other means. It's an assumption, but it's a pretty good one.

Went nearly pitch black on my screen, but we're not posting from the exact same system so can't say for sure we're not seeing slightly different instances of the same issue.

Ideally an anti material rifle should be too prohibitively rare and fire ammo so rare that using it against players should be considered madness, saving it only for knocking out vehicles and such. However that won't happen in DayZ because with hackers, dupers and hoppers we'll always end up with people camped on hilltops with hundreds of rounds of 50cal shooting up everything they see. If they implement an anti-material rifle, I think the accuracy will have to be fairly poor compared to smaller caliber DMRs to balance it out.

Things are only ever rare to legitimate players. Just something to consider.

Metagaming is the use of knowledge that would be unavailable to the character you are playing as. Your character can't see around a corner, you can due to the third person camera angle you can. You're make your choice on what to do based off information which would not be available to your character: This is metagaming, pure and simple. Regardless of if you understand that or not, your failure to comprehend it does not change the fact that 3pp fits under the umbrella of Metagaming. :rolleyes:

Went pitch black (almost to night time levels) for me during early evening when the sun went behind a cloud for like 30 seconds. I'm starting to suspect the devs have never been outside as it would be obvious to anyone who has that this is unrealistic. :rolleyes: I drank 12 cans of fizzy drinks back to back and they didn't seem to give any hydration what so ever too, I suspect someone broke something although how I don't know. Frame rates are less stable than before and I crawled down to around 5 at the ship before DayZ crashed entirely, so I suspect a memory leak is also knocking around there somewhere. Edit, just to confirm: Gamma sliders still work fine at night on AMD, but don't do much to solve the sun going behind a cloud... which is interesting in and of itself, because in DayZ torch light penetrates solid walls but the sun can't project light through clouds. :D
