So this is 1.0 DayZ ?

5 years of early access, 5 years of thousands on thousands of free play-testing hours and DayZ still doesn't have working zombies after releasing and having the nerve to charge £35 to new players? While we're at it, the netcode is STILL fundamentally broken, there are less weapons than during ALPHA, half the systems in the game are so bare-bones to the point of being meaningless in terms of their effect on gameplay, base persistence is practically non-existence and bugs are still the most likely cause of death. Bohemia clearly have no respect for the customers to whom they promised so much and failed to deliver to time and time again. I (a long time ARMA player) will never purchase another bohemia product, I will advise every single person I know against giving Bohemia a single solitary penny. This is wholly unacceptable after years of messing around the community with delay after delay only to release a game that has barely improved since alpha and I can only imagine bohemia have spent the last 5 years laughing at us for foolishly expecting them to deliver functional game while spending our money on blackjack and ladies of the night.

    Do you even like PVP?

I like PvP as a concept and it's a required part of the DayZ experience so long as it is framed within a context of hardship and scarcity, however I don't like the current factors that make PvP in this game extremely unrewarding as an experience. There seems to be an idea within the DayZ dev team that DayZ should move away from its ARMA roots and establish itself as something different, however they're often throwing the baby out with the bath water while doing it and losing the satisfying mechanics & realism that made ARMA an enjoyable experience.

    Sidearms vs SMGs?

You play with ATOC on? that'll be why then. It's much easier to spot people hiding in trees, bushes or lay in the grass with it turned off, even though it makes the game look like ass. As for me, I often play backpackless or even backpackless and vestless for extra challenge, so quiet often if I carry a secondary (for the purposes of having access to a suppressed weapon then it usually ends up being either a CR75, 1911 or Mak with a pistol suppressor on it as space is at an absolute premium.

These new bugs are the real game breakers!

Given how bad the desync is and how rubbish the current shooting mechanics & hit detection are, I don't see how being unable to place a weapon in your hand would effect your lethality much.

Truck noise makes me want to KILL

Same here, on the rare occasion when I do use a vehicle I park it a good 500-600m minimum away from a town and hoof it the rest of the way to maintain the element of surprise in case anyone is looting that town.

    Long Range Scope?

Good job, I might give that a try too. Can't stand these "no KoS" and "Kill = kick" servers that are springing up all over the place.

    980ti performance

I don't even notice the difference between my 955BE 3.6ghz system and my 4.5ghz 2500k system on DayZ most of the time. Past a certain point I don't think it matters what your specs are for DayZ, you'll be limited by the server side and poor optimization rather than raw system power anyway.

    DayZ Standalone Singleplayer

I don't see the point, DayZ without other players would be the most boring experience I could imagine.

Does a damaged hunting scope shoot straight?

I've only found them pristine so far, so I haven't been able to test how damage effects accuracy.

    New weapons damage in action

I've had similar experiences with 0.57 weapon damage too. Seems kinda derpy and random, at one point watching a guy soak up two torso shots from a .357 Magnum before hitting the deck with a broken leg from the third & losing consciousness and one guy with broken legs taking 5 7.62x39 rounds to put out of his misery. Not quite sure what they've done with weapons in this patch, but I don't particularly approve of it.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

It'll run just about as well as DayZ ever runs. Just expect low FPS because we're all stuck with that regardless of specs.

    so much for the struggle

All play styles are not legitimate or we'd have no need for battle-eye. Dupping and server hopping are hopefully high on the developers list of things to resolve and I'll be glad to see the back of them, despite the fact that directly targeting these players by ambushing them on low-pop servers at high value locations is one of my prefered methods of getting rarer pieces of gear. Secondly, you mistake me for someone who complains when he dies, usually I'd congratulate someone on besting me and more often than not my deaths are the results of mistakes on my own part such as missing a critical opening shot or taking follow up shots too rapidly and without repositioning. I'm still de-training some of my more aggressive tendencies, however rest assured I do give a pretty good account of myself even when outnumbered & outgunned. Due to my play style, on the majority of lives I am forced to hunt and kill people on a regular basis, both on private and public hives. However, I have always obtained my gear in legitimate ways either by killing other players and taking it from them or by searching it out myself without the use of underhanded tactics.

    so much for the struggle

In that regard rockets vision was fundamentally flawed. I wouldn't be surprised if this is precisely what he meant when he used those words. The reason that people & clans server hop (or worse, have a "gearing up server" they guard jealously and kick non-members) through NWAF and Vybor base rather than just playing ARMA3 is because in ARMA3, teams of well armed and equipped players engage each other on level footing, this isn't what the typical server hopping individual or clan wants, if people wanted to engage other geared up players in organized groups we'd see different play styles than we currently do. What these people WANT is to get geared through whatever means is fastest, nefarious or not and then head back to the starter towns to "PvP" with the unarmed or under-armed & disorganized fresh spawns. I believe they want to do that for two reasons: The troll or spoiler mentality, where the most fun a person can conceive of having in a given situation is the satisfaction of ruining somebody elses enjoyment or because they simply wouldn't win the majority of engagements with equally well equipped players with similar numbers.

Your favorites OSTs / songs while playing DayZ

I never listen to music while playing DayZ, hearing is too important a tool, particularly on 1pp to compromise it for background music.
  15. So long as there's a public hive, server hopping will be a thing. Use the hoppers as easy ways to gear up, find a basic weapon and camp a high value spot on a low pop server, murder them and take the loot.
  16. TheScruffyBandit

where can i find the most pvp?

Everytime I go to NWAF I don't see a single soul and whenever I go to Vybor base I end up in a firefight, so your mileage may vary.

    Instanced Zombie Horde

i'm all for hordes however I hope we never see any kind of instanced content in DayZ.

    BAF L85/SA80 variants

L85A2 susat was my favorite gun in epoch, I'd like to see it implemented into the standalone for selfish reasons but I do admit there's not much reason for such a rare rifle to turn up in chernarus.

    Ammo rarity in .55

I like the CR527 myself, but every time I pick one up the unused mounting points on the model make me feel a little sad.

    Ammo rarity in .55

In a game, I don't want DayZ to feel like a game. If that means AK74 and AKMs are a dime a dozen then I'm fine with that. Also, properly implemented a B95 would have much higher effective range than an AKM or 74, the fact that the current long range kings in DayZ are a dirt cheap Mosin fitted with an insanely expensive optic and the AKM with a PSO1 is the "balance" issue imo, because neither are particularly realistic. Hopefully they move the LRS off the Mosin and to the C527 and/or blaze95 after the introduction of the SVD. edit: On a related note, I don't ever remember having an issue with the number of iron sighted soviet era automatic weapons in the mod, it was the high powered anti-material and DMR rifles with fantastic optics and accuracy that tended to be converted by players.

    Ammo rarity in .55

Given that the SKS and CR527 are both in civilian loot pools, I'd like to see small numbers of 7.62x39mm spawning in suitable locations (the same places that magazines/clips for these weapons can spawn would make sense), currently it seems like the ammo boxes/stacks for this round only spawn loose/boxed in general military loot pools. As for realistic weapons types and rarity vs game balance I fall on the side of realism first and foremost, I want DayZ to be as genuine an experience as realistically possible and game balance should not be a primary concern, real life isn't balanced either people will always gravitate to what's most effective & available.
  22. Yeah, the fact that "bone condition" can never recover is just outright silly and needs to be adjusted. In fact it encourages meta-gaming now we know about it, because the only way to reset it and keep your gear is to dump your gear somewhere, kill your character and run back to recover your equipment.

15 and 25 round only. PM-73 RAK still spawns at police cars btw, I saw one this morning on a private hive.

    so much for the struggle

0.55 persistent loot was not good and the game was no harder for it, survival was still easy it was just boring, spamming a berry bush in a secluded location for 45 minutes then working your way inland is not a challenge of anything other than the endurance of your keyboard's F key and how arthritic your index finger is. If anything, from the perspective of a bandit the game was easier. The moment I found a gun I knew I'd never want for anything again, I could simply ambush players at will knowing that most would have no weapon to defend themselves and those that did would be unlikely to expect an armed ambush in a backwater town with only a handful of loot spawns. It also made it easier to predict which areas of a town people would visit as re-spawning loot only functioned in a few locations and camping those would give you the best results. I'm all for DayZ becoming a more challenging environment to survive in, that's why I play this game more than I play ARMA3 wasteland or Epoch but that isn't what 0.55 achieved, some of you need to climb down off your high horse for a second and think about it rationally. If you know that visiting a military base is pointless as the server has already filled its quota for military loot and won't spawn anymore there's no point going to those locations, you don't have any reason to risk your character for the potential reward of a weapon so instead you'll hang out in the sticks, check toilets and sheds and berry/apple pick or farm depending on if you can find the tools required to grow your own food. If that's what you call challenging, I'm afraid I disagree with you. Ultimately this comes down to risk vs reward, if you want something good, you need to be willing to risk your face getting shot off and if you take that risk and come through safely then you should have a good chance of finding something useful because otherwise the whole game falls down and nobody takes the risks, fortune needs to favor the brave.
