http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=zip%20gun With the forthcoming chance of military weapons becoming "very rare", I think that these would be absolutely ideal addition to the game. They should be wildy innacurate single-shot weapons, but 'easily' made with the right items. Materials: A pipe, duct tape, wood/sticks, rubber band, etc. Calibre: .22 or 12 gauge (see above) Requires: Hacksaw, etc. (They should probably also take minutes or more of in-game time to fashion, rather than the mere seconds it seems to take to make a splint or an improvised backpack!)

Airfields and military bases are dumb
FatboyTim replied to rodolfoxiii's topic in General Discussion
One way to fix the loot tables would be to give every item generated a 1-in-10 chance of re-rolling on a different (entirely random) loot table. This would make every lootable building a potential spawn point for any item, without unbalancing the overall civilian / military loot ratio. -
Has anybody seen a Ushanka in the latest stable patch? Mine disappeared as I logged in, with a similar missing asset error that the berets used to give in the last patch...

Much obliged for the info. B)

Another night of looting. Another night of no Ushankas... <_<

Constant PVP ruins the fun of this game
FatboyTim replied to wuffi (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
There are penalties now for trying to combat log, so holding people up just became a lot more viable. Additionally since being shot now destroys gear, robbing people became a lot more lucrative than killing them. I suspect that KoS should become less frequent as proper banditry now makes a lot more sense. -
Lootable Buildings are Becoming an Endagered Species
FatboyTim replied to DarkwaveDomina's topic in General Discussion
This is definitely a thing. The last patch broke a number of buildings, so they never spawn loot right now. -
This. The green Ushanka is much better camouflage (but obviously offers less protection) than that bright green balistic helmet. I had the opportunity to entirely loot Zelenogorsk last night. Not a single Ushanka of any colour. I remain sceptical that it's spawning in the latest patch.

Having all doors across the maps set randomly open / closed on server reset would stop a lot of server hopping. People wouldn't be able to simply jump in and out of servers to check whether a particular airfield or town is looted, without having to go in and actually and check out the loot spots.

Reduce The Common Lag In Dayz [Tutorial]
FatboyTim replied to Sanitöter's topic in General Discussion
Seemed to help, thanks. -
We need better randomisation of spawns (so there is a small chance that any item can be found) plus the ability for all properties to spawn loot would make the game a lot more better. I run through towns currently, knowing that there is no point at all in venturing into many properties (that actually spawned loot prior to the most-recent patch,)

5 in ~50 hours. 1 bandit (who I stalked and killed because he was sniping at bambis from the large hill in Elektro.)1 bambi (not proud but I figured he'd have the battery I needed. I was then sniped to death myself from close-range / behind, about ~1 minute later, so I guess I got what I deserved.)2 well-armed players (bizarrely dressed in yellow raincoats - after they cornered me by surprise on a staircase in Berezino. The mosin-wielding guy died immediately and luckily for me, his M4-armed buddy bled out 1 floor down while I was reloading.)1 in self-defense (vs. an unarmed guy who tried to knock me out while I was eating in Cherno)Guess I need to up my game. ;)

A "no logging for 2 minutes after you've been shot at" rule would be far too easy for griefers to exploit. (Idiots deliberately keeping you logged in without killing you, for example.) A simple 20-second logout timer, combined with a 5-minute no-return-to-the-same-server would suffice.

One Kill On Sight Thread To Rule Them All!
FatboyTim replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I'd love to see systems that encouraged players away from KOS. For example sanity/remorse systems that give prolific killers certain drawbacks, or giving non-killers the ability to get certain perks / benefits only when working cooperatively, etc. Personally, I'd prefer by far to talk / negotiate with other players, form temporary alliances against bandits / zombies, and help others achieve goals - all without having to expect that I'm about to get a bullet to the back of my head. But the choice to play as a KOS psycho should obviously remain, and there should be no way to identify KOS pre-dispostion in advance, or the tension would be lost. -
Faster zombies would be fine, if melee combat was more reliable... "Look a zombie!" *Hits 2* *Presses and holds 2* *Taps 2* *Double taps 2* *Presses 2* *Finally gets an axe out*

FYI, that's the Cerne Abbas Giant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerne_Abbas_Giant -
From what I can see, those servers are only almost-empty when they're in darkness / night time. The daylight servers I see are all 30/30 or 40/40.

A greater selection of colours / camos for 6-slot jackets (Urban / Black / Olive etc.) Some alternative ballistic helmets (UN / Police / Press / Red Cross / Camo etc.) Construction helmets Ponchos Also, the ability to tie up the Ushanka...

Warning on creating improvised backpack from courier bag
FatboyTim replied to Wernsley (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I like it. I just wish the twenty slot version was 4x5 rather than 5x4, just so it could hold a sawed-off like the other backpacks. -
They should add a blue press ballistic helmet, too.
