....wait wait wait...so you're saying that you think Rocket says that the shitty elements of the movement mechanics in this game is a good thing... ...and you're on board with this? My god...this community sometimes lol xD

I'm not trying to start a flame war here...but it's hilarious to me how many people are so adamantly against this game being "pvp" oriented and "not a mil-sim" and "not about playing soldier" ...yet none of them show up here to denounce the idea of introduction of military-grade gear into the game. Fascinating

So fixing random sounds that don't necessarily effect your character directly is high enough on the priority list to fix but addressing fall damage isn't? *confused*

[Be nice] How do you torture people in days?
DeatHTaX replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
Well you did so inadvertently by basically looking down on anyone doing anything contrary to your play style...soooo you kind of did I.e. Being "bullies" or "immature". Oh and technically I think we're all in a way "wasting our time" playing a video game. But that's not going to stop me from having a good time and messing with people for the hell of it. So how about get off your high horse and try being less cynical? okay? okay :) -
Is carrying two primaries weapons not really possible now?

[Be nice] How do you torture people in days?

Built up nerd rage? Lol dude calm down. It's just a game, and just because i force a handcuffed person to drink bleach and wear no pants in a video game does not make me a psychopath in real life. Thats like saying i'm a murderer because i play first person shooters and kill people for fun. Lighten up buddy -
So I guess you could call this an optimistic feel-good story about DayZ, and bear in mind, it's a doozy. So get comfy if you're gonna read the whole thing. I would put it as a 6 on the 1 - 10 "long as f*@#" scale Upon logging in yesterday night after a long day at work I decided to get back on DayZ with a forum buddy and online friend, and try to forget my irritating several hours of previous gameplay. So I'm a fresh spawn, because falling from a laughable 10 feet or so ended my character's life, after the game had already flung him across the map twice, as well as having the unfortunate luck to be 1-shot unconscious-ed by a zombie, and subsequently killed. But it's alright because I spawned in.... some kind of field...with no distinguishing landmarks... Okay well we're off to a bad start, but I'm sure it will get better. So after some investigating I come to learn I'm near Zelenogorsk! Awesome! Should give me some decent loot. At this time, Rick and the other guy are both on the opposite corner of the map by Cherno, so at this point I'm not super into my game because I'm bored and alone. So I decide... "Y'know what? F% it." So I decided I was going to run straight down the middle of berezino on the main road in a full pop server to see if I survive. Little did I know I had embarked upon The Journey of the Four Trials.... *Epic music* The trial of courage Obviously it takes some serious balls, or no brains, to run down the middle of berezino in the middle of a gas-station exploding hell storm of bullets, like Michael Bay had an illegitimate child with a Mini-gun, while bambis run screaming by you with blood pouring out of their body screaming for help. To my surprise, I met a guy in a hut named "Fat Chris". I said hello to him...waved...just said hello a bunch more times in an extremely obnoxious way, and then ran off...he didn't shoot me. He simply said,"WHAT?" To my surprise, I made it through Berezino....NO...IDEA...HOW...literally just running down the middle of the main road with my gear...I had passed the trial of courage. Little did I know 3 more trials awaited me, and one of them I was facing the whole way through... The trial of wisdom Next I encountered a pants-less gentleman on the bridge just due south from the factory along the coast. He wielded a pickaxe and crouched in a very menacing fashion. "YOU THEEEEEEEEEYAH. STOP RIGHT THIS INSTANT." so I did... "AAAAAAAYE AM THE BRIDGE TROLL. YOU MUST ANSWER MY 3 RIDDLES TO CROSS!" So long story short (because f@$%, we all know this story is already long as balls anyway), I played along, answered his riddles correctly, gave him a road flare and some painkillers (because why not) and was on my way The trial of fire Next was to survive the trek through Elektro. I decided to run straight through it like a boss. So I did. It was actually quite eerie, because there were multiple bodies sticking out of the top of both fire stations from what I could see. Not a shot was fired at me. The gods deemed me worthy. The trial of endurance I eventually made it to Balota, where the other 2 had met up at by then, and realized I had made it while being near-death starving multiple times, and somehow finding the means to go on until I could find a respite from some bag of rice or something of the like. ...I had passed the final test... THE TRIAL OF ENDURANCE! So long story short, it was quite a welcome change of pace to be having some fun again in this game...soon it turned into a loot fest that lasted a couple hours, going from town to town, seeing no one, doing not much... but for a brief moment...I was having an absolute BLAST! There may be hope for DayZ yet

Well see Rick, the Dev team knows what's best all of the time, even if we don't see what they're trying to do right away. They know what they're doing, and you are not allowed to provide any criticism, because it's totally an alpha, and that gives you no right to bring up such blunders.

Have you ever given guns and ammo to freshspawns?
DeatHTaX replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
I personally think that whether or not someone turns on you and your kindness all depends on how you act toward them. I usually tend to treat anyone I meet in game that I interact with as just another person, and act on the level. Think i've only been betrayed once or twice. -
Never a more perfect time than now, especially with persistent loot at the doorstep I think this deserves a poll

So I haven't played DayZ in about 6months. Whats new?
DeatHTaX replied to Dariusz's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much the only thing I have noticed is a slight improvement to their navigation...that's about it as far as I have observed. Ever since the new patch I've seen them do even more crazy shit then they did before. -
[Be nice] How do you torture people in days?
DeatHTaX replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
You sound like someone who gets tortured in DayZ a lot. -
Community response: OMG A HIVE WIPE! OMFG NO THAT'S BULLS*$%! I'M NOT LOSING MAI GEER CUZ SOMEBODY HACKS AND STUFF! I am all for a hive wipe. A complete and utter hive wipe. Wipe the damn thing clean. At least it will get rid of the people who have hacked/glitched weapons and aren't necessarily hackers themselves.
-
Well typically any post or subject matter that isn't prefixed with "I understand this game is in development" or isn't blindly praising the dev team is usually descended upon by some of the more...how do I say...."dedicated" fans. Rick and I both know this first hand lol xD
-
Well I would argue that the fact than ANYONE in the game can do it, I.E. providing the possibility of 90% of the players running around with duped weapons or gear, is more game breaking than the smaller percentage of hackers, who usually do get banned, and then are stupid enough to buy the game again and line the DayZ purse with gold. Sooooo yeah, I would say that something like weapon and gear duping would be PREEETTY important. Hackers can and will always work your way around anti-hack stuff, and that will come in time. But a fix to item duping is usually PERMENANT and will solve an issue immediately.

A 4 meter fall still kills your character... I find it baffling that they made these adjustments to the movement system, yet have still not even touched the fall damage issues. Especially since now zombies when they die near you can push you off ledges. (Has happened to me twice.) Oh and anyone else having buildings randomly catapult them across the map? Because this has happened to me twice so far. me in flight ^^^

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
DeatHTaX replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I speak in generalizations for the adults, sir. I do not speak for the "OhEHERMEHERGHERDD WHERE IS DUN GAIM!" crowd -
Hmm...interesting... From what I see almost everyone who plays DayZ says from what they've seen that game is a "joke" or "looks bad" or is "junk" (that's a new one) Funny how most of us will sit here and defend our unfinished game to our dying breath, yet so quickly dismiss another work i progress simply because it's different. I genuinely find this intrigueing

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
DeatHTaX replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Well in the case of zombies, I think we can all agree that it boils down to a knowledge of coding for making sure they work correctly. We know how they should work for the most part, so there's nothing more really to input IMO that hasn't already been covered, but I certainly can provide feedback. :D My snark was aimed at this silly idea that saying "Liek 420 N0sc4pz Gyz3 te3h 1338 Ga1m am nawt FINUSHED YET!" somehow means anything to anybody here 99% of the time...I mean we all know the game is being worked on. seriously....we know.... -
i f*@*&iing love these kinds of videos lol xD
-
While I completely disagree with you, I appreciate your argument, and shall give forth to you beans
-
Well...I mean if your name was "Bananahamper" or something, then no. But I mean your name IS script factory....was expecting a pretty elaborate response to fix the fall damage issue, not simply turn it off to ignore it until later lol xD

Yeah, well i personally feel most of the people that wan't "realism" are usually the people that tend to only want "Certain" things to be realistic, and eventually the Devs are going to give them what they think they wan't, and then they'll say "My God! This game is too realistic!" I mean I'm for practicality and authenticity > realism... If I wanted a game that was completely realistic, I wouldn't play DayZ, I'd go outside. But that's just my opinon. Shooting someone with a 7.62 round in the chest wouldn't leave them bleeding and running around REALISM ADJUSTMENT: Bullets immobilize you and will kill more often than not kill you in one hit. Shooting someone with a .22 round to the head knocks you out -shooting someone in the head with a .22 kills you Hitting a "zombie" in the body with an axe effectively kills it -In keeping with tradition, you have to hit them in the head, or MULTIPLE times in the body or legs to kill them/stop them You can eat most canned foods with no repercussions -You have a high risk of getting botulism from non-pristine canned foods You starve in an hour or so (dunno with new patch) -You don't starve for several weeks You can just run around forever without rest -you will require sleep and rest every so often See where I'm going with this? The people who cry for "realism realism realism" don't even really know what they're asking for in the long run. It's all about balance, authenticity, and creating an experience that meshes well and creates a harmony with gameplay, environment, and UI. It's all about the willing suspension of disbelief. Once you start to put it a bunch of "realistic" elements into the game, it's simply going to make the things that AREN'T realistic even more obtuse and obvious. It completely disrupts that. Before long, people start to clamor for those to be changed as well, because their "realism" is a stark contrast to all the other game elements. Before long you have a game that's not even any fun for the vast majority of people anymore. It's almost like in a film, where everything happening is very realistic. You're very into the film, and are immersed in the world that it creates. Things that snap you out of that and break that focus and immersion are things that suddenly become out of place. For example, you're watching a very serious drama movie and out of nowhere a naked trailer park dad runs across the screen in his underwear hootin' and hollerin'. You are IMMEDIATELY aware of it and are abruptly distracted from the film. But I mean hey, if your idea of fun is running, getting tired, sleeping, then eating and cooking food for half an hour, then running again, tripping over a rock, then scraping your knee, only for it to become infected several days later for your lack of showering and poor hygiene, and before you know it you're dead. This is obviously a hypothetical example, but it still illustrates my point. AUTHENTICITY >>>> Realism *steps off soap box*
