I thought I had been hacked. My friend was shot while I was in a garage eating. the guy says drop your gun and come out, I say no as he just killed my friend. I didn't know where he was so I closed the door, thought if he wants to kill me he will have to be dumb and open the door. He was dumb I fired 2 shots from the magnum both hit the door. I moved out put 3 shots in his back 0 damage. I moved round the back of the garage and he came round the other way. I moved back into cover and he shot me through the wall. I was so mad with hakusations on TS then it dawned on me; desync. A second time I was killed from nowhere at point black range from behind, with what sounded like a full auto magnum but I not 100% sure. I'm pretty certain nobody could have been that close unnoticed and the gun fired like an M4 but was very loud, Either hacker or my mistake but this one I can't explain.

Yes you can be killed instantly by a headshot and sometimes even a body shot from a mosin, will kill you in one shot. You don't always hear a shot if the person is far away and also sometimes there is audio lag, like hearing a soda open 5 minutes after you open it or getting freaked out by your own delayed reload login sound. In terms of science in RL bullets travel faster than the speed of sound, so you would normally expect to be shot before you hear the gun. Don't know if this is calculated by the engine or not though.

Quite often the reason a server will be empty is because it's lagging and needs a restart, if you only play on empty servers, you will suffer lag related issues more than normal.

The zombies have been getting better and the game has many bugs but even in their current broken state there are hardly any. I would like to see more zombies even if they are still broken. The logical conclusion to your argument would be to remove them completely until they are perfect. You do realise that different people, with different skillsets are working on a variety of things, are you saying the artists should learn to code and stop coming up with new models, until zombies are working properly? I wants more zombies idc if they are not working properly, just because I don't agree with you does not make me a Dean Hall support group member.

This should have gone in troubleshooting, not general discussion, then you may have avoided the; this is Alpha reply. Also if you had asked if anyone has a work around or fix, it may have been a nice addition. I have seen people bitching about known issues, with known workarounds but this post seemed reasonable to me.

I think the weather at the moment is set at server restart like loot. Not 100% certain but I have only noticed weather change when a server restarts. So I believe your only option is to change servers until you find a rainy one atm. The rain is client side but the weather conditions are set by the server. If you join a dark cloudy server eventually you will see rain.

I think this would harm the realism and survival aspects and push the game more towards the shooter direction. I think the not knowing who shot you or how, kind of adds to the shock factor and the impact of your death, the wtf happened moments, are a cool aspect to the game, if you could figure out this from a log it would make the game less hardcore. I do think this information would be useful but would probably detract from the game.

I have been giving this some thought, after exploring the map a lot, I was thinking that the design is such to allow the map to be larger if needs be. Otherwise from an immersion point of view, why would the dead area not be closed off with mountains or coastline? -

If some power tripping kid aimed a gun at me and ordered me to sing YMCA, I would have buried my axe in his skull. I don't let morons boss me around in real life, where I have something at stake, why would I put up with it in a game, where the worst thing that could happen to me is a respawn? The bit I don't understand in your post is the fix the game part. What was broken about the game here? There already is a combat log timer you just didn't realise he had left, he probably didn't realise there was a timer either. It's not the games fault you don't keep up with the patch notes. -
No the respawn only works if you are dead or unconscious. Never seen it work any other way. I have been stuck in a wall myself and got out this way, if you aim for a corner I think it works better. Honestly though I had a friend who got stuck I told him to try the sprinting and vaulting, he said it's not working, I said keep trying and he did get unstuck. If you can't make the run and vault thing work for you, you can just leave your game running while you are away and wait for your toon to starve.

If you search the forum or asked for help you can get unstuck from walls, just sprint and keep pressing v until you glitch back out. I hate to be one of those this is alpha guys but obviously you didn't read the massive all caps warning next to the buy button or the one you have to agree to every time you launch the game. Good luck getting a refund from Steam because they don't give them.

I think the plan with bases is to make them underground and instanced, so when you login to a server your base door would be placed in world and what you did underground would be separate to the server. This way you could move servers on the public hive without losing your base. Not sure how this would work or how you would share a base with someone, if you were both on different servers. Point is I don't think they have fully decided on what they will do with bases but the general plan is to implement some kind of system in future. -

When this happens and you are reset just log out quickly and wait a few minutes, as long as you're not playing a reset toon when the server you are on connects to a database you won't be reset. I haven't been reset since I started doing this and have saved myself from 3 or 4 resets with this method. I know servers occasionally loose connection to the hive for a short time, though this wasn't the issue on this occasion. I look very carefully for the you feel thirsty message and the sound of the ocean when I log in and watch my taskbar for the right items in the quick slots, any of this isn't right, I book it out of that server quick smart. -

You should read the post you are replying to, rather than asking daft questions. When will this happen? 7 February 12PM GMT, the stable branch network will be taken down to deploy the update. Please note: it can take game server providers up to 30 minutes to drop their servers. Players who are connected to a game server while the central server drops, are at risk of losing their progress. How long will the downtime last? We expect it stable to be down for three hours. -

This is like saying all the driving ruins Need for Speed or all the Mining ruins Minecraft. I don't KoS and don't even PvP a great deal but the constant need to watch your back and finding strategies to survive, gives this game greater depth. The first couple of times I was KoSed, I was pretty annoyed but the more I play the less it bothers me. Lets face it without people trying to kill you, this game would just be a bean eating simulator. Now I enjoy a good plate of beans on toast but would not choose to spend all day eating them cold from a can, without some other drama or tension to make it interesting. Sitting in the sun eating cold beans is a lot less exciting than hiding in a shed, hoping the sound of you eating cold beans, doesn't get you killed.

The stuffed indicator is bugged, once you have the status showing it won't go away. You now vomit before you are full, so you have to eat and drink a bit less, till the next patch.

I was explaining a variety of situations. I look at people through the scope because it's fitted to the gun, so not necessarily because I need to, also because it took me 2 weeks to find my pristine long-range scope, you wouldn't believe my epic quest for a scope and so I kinda want to use it every chance I get, before I inevitably lose it. I guess I could have explained that part better. In buildings and at very close range I would use the Revolver not the mosin but at that range it would be hard not to interact with people and let them just walk by. -
We should start a campaign to keep Baby Green Mountain. Somebody tell dayzdb.com to add it to the map.

Again why bother replying to something if you only read a small part of it? Go down where? I said I look at people through a scope, not that I look for people miles away down some hill or something. You make too many assumptions when you read things. -
That area of the map is pretty laggy, although I haven't been there since the latest patch so it may be improved. When I was last there the zeds are harder to kill than usual due to the lag, wouldn't beat him up about it.

No you assumed, I'm some hero type looking for an excuse to kill people. I didn't say I shoot at them if I don't like what they are doing, by going about there business, I meant not shooting at me or my friends, I'm not one of the types who go looking for bandits. I'm certainly no loner in the woods and play as part of a group a great deal. Where in my post does it say this: "I watch motherfuckers through my scope all day and do nothing" Do you understand what quotation marks mean? I think you should have actually read what I posted before you replied with this rubbish. Why did you assume that I have been killed by zombies? or that I hide in the woods the whole time? I have yet to be killed by a zombie and apart from the resets caused by the hive issues a couple of weeks ago, all my deaths have been bullet related. I don't sit over cities looking for ashats. I often provide overwatch for my friends or happen across people whom I watch to see where they are heading. Why are you so angry that other people may be different to you? I thought the point of this was I kill and I'm not afraid to say so, you are all just killers. Well I'm not sorry but we are all not you, most of us are ourselves, it's ok to be different. At no point did I say there was anything wrong with you playing the way you do, the fear of being shot is what keeps the game interesting. So why do you feel that everyone should admit they are you, because I can assure you that I'm not.
