It was your first three lives. Chill. I play hero too, and, sorry to say but yes you will die plenty of times simply because of a lack of ruthlessness. Though you get used to it and dieing because no big deal, especially if you're able to help that one person out of ten.

That's not what i'm talking about, but sort of what i'm referring to. The person was doing what you stated except going through each building connecting to each other and then popping up out of the wall of wherever someone was in order to kill that person. -

Actually the hacking has already started. People have begun to purposely clip through buildings and the ground in order to remain invisible. They can see you, but you can't see them. -

OP I know how you feel. I almost always play strict hero, meaning i never shoot anyone anywhere unless i have a reason to. I will take that 1/10 chance that he's a friendly guy or new player just trying to make it through the day and not shoot, rather than assume just because he looks like a bandit and he's in a military base means he's a bandit and shoot. Yes i die many times but i would never want someone to feel how i feel or how i know other people feel when they die without just cause of engagement. It's also a much more rewarding way to play rather than being a bandit shooting everything that moves, because I'm actually helping new players and other friendlies with their own experience. :) -

Same i got a big increase in performance as well. Also guys, set your SHADOWS TO NORMAL. If you have it on very low to increase FPS, try normal, trust me. And for those of you complaining about the wall glitch still being out there, it's not a simple fix. The problem isn't with the zombies, it's with each individual building. So it will take some time to adjust every single one, and even then that's going to create some problems itself that they have to spend more time fixing.

I haven't played yet but I'd like to understand something correctly here... When you log off, you don't see your char anymore and you can exit but in the server your char is still sitting there for 30 seconds? Or is that incorrect?

I like the drugs idea for the game.. we have morphine and painkillers already, and those are very easy to get addicted to. Just like when you eat and drink too much, using too much of either of those should have a downside. Though speaking of which, i don't understand how morphine fixes a broken leg... it should only be a splint that does that, then use a bit of morphine afterwards periodically, to regenerate health. -

Well there's that busted up bus near one of the spawning points along the coast that has a pile of dead bodies outside of it covered in mud. There's also the fact that no one is alive, and instead they're zombies. -

Make players wait 10 seconds before exiting. This would only work in close-ranged combat situations, though. If the distance between the two players is far enough the logger can probably spare 10 seconds to leave, but if it's closer ranged and you have to act quick, it would work with no downside effects i can think of.. though that's why i created the topic, what do you all think? Also if you don't quite understand what I mean, take WoW for example. When you select "logout" or "exit" (i forget which one) your toon sits down and a countdown of 20 or so seconds begins until you actually logout.

Servers with connection issues to central hive

To add on to this, my name in DayZ as well as other peoples' names have now changed to their PC's name rather than their Steam name. And I cannot change my character's name and don't want to mess around in the .cfg files for fear of losing my current char. But i suspect that I can't change the name because I've done some tweaking around to boost FPS. -
Yea that's kinda what I think. I mean, you can't always worry about hackers for every little aspect of the game.. Though 10 minutes is a bit much lol

Ahhh I see. Well, I suppose that'd have to be an obstacle we face when we get there. But also, this isn't the mod, and the devs, i would think, have a lot more freedom to work with so i hopefully they'd be able to put a stop to anything like that on here.

Think of the odds though. If you just spent 30 minutes searching around the place and roaming about, 10 seconds is nothing. Especially if you can find a safe spot to log off in. And perhaps while the 10 seconds is counting down, the player can still have control over his char a bit so he's able to potentially defend. About the hackers, i don't quite understand what you mean :/
