    Something I've Noticed

I still squeal when I find an Enfield after a new start. And a map, knife, matches, etc. I also squealed when a hacker successfully killed himself in front of me couple of hours ago. I fancy the little things in life :-)
  3. ArmA III will have better, more fluid and realistic animation cycles as well. It uses pre-calculated shadows where possible, to lessen the performance impact on the players' systems. And the maps are significantly larger, according to the B.I.S. team. You can find more information in the B.I.S. forum, as well as the Wikipedia. Also, lighting effects looks rather impressive with the next generation of the Real Virtuality-engine. Hopefully DayZ will take advantage of the new features, and make good use of it.
  4. Tap Ctrl twice in rapid succession. This will make your virtual guy lower his main weapon (doesn't work with sidearms, only rifles and machine guns). I wouldn't count on it to save my life during an encounter with possible hostiles, though.

    18 Dayz

I know the feeling. The last time I strolled across a grass patch not far from some buildings in a desolate place up North. I had killed 20-30 zombies and taken a U-turn after shaking off the rest, subsequently crossing an open area a stone's throw away from the buildings to continue my journey up North. There is no valuable loot in those buildings, by the way, only low level such as ammo, food, etc. (not that I would consider it low quality). I started weaving through some of the remaining zombies patrolling the area, and for some reason I never saw the guy laying prone in front of me, pointing what seems to have been an AKM at me. A split second before he opened fire on me, I thought "oh, a crawler, must be careful now". Of course I was a little annoyed, having survived for a week, but I was more annoyed with myself than anything, for being careless and, like OP, dropping my guard. It almost always happens when you stop paying as much attention and your S.A. is on a decline.

    Looking Into Buying Arma2..

You need to buy Operation Arrowhead, but you can use ARMA II FREE if you want, instead of the paid ARMA II game. You will need to buy OA either way.

    [Forum] Tapatalk!

Thanks for doing this. I use the app with many forums, and it works very well on most most Android devices. The app produces a light weight and easy to read and navigate version of forums utilizing it. I recommend it.
  8. You'll find some in barns, deer stands and/or fortress ruins. I only kill zombies when I lack the patience to try luring them out of there. Usually just go in and feed them a bullet each, finish looting the place and get out of there and steal back into the woods, stat. I found my hunting knife, matches and hatchet in Chernogorsk, but I have also found matches in some ruins and in a barn.
  9. How are you doing so far? Have you found the barn and nearby dam a bit North of Elektrozavodsk? The barn offers some prime quality loot such as weapons (I see you have at least one gun now), and you can run down to the dam below the barn to fill up your water flask, then if you check your map you can run straight up to the Rog Castle from there, where you might find useful survivor's stuff (food, beverages, weapons, matches, etc.). Using a map with this MOD is not cheating; the game world spans 225 square kilometers and you would probably get lost out there in real life. I found a map in a building somewhere, and I jot down notes on it when I found loot spots such as barns, tents, etc., but I use a browser and/or Android map as well. When using the Android map on my smart phone it feels like having a pocket GPS receiver, which is very realistic, if anything. Also try some of the Arma II missions. Chances are you will (really) like it. I love the editor and am starting all over again with it, as I have not created missions since OFP 1985, the very first game in the series by B.I.S. I do enjoy playing this MOD, either way, even in this stage of development. Good luck, and "break a leg" :)
  10. Yes, it should not be a problem at all. I have Arma II on retail DVD, and I bought Operation Arrowhead in my Steam account. They work very well together. Arma II and Operation Arrowhead equals Combined Operations, when both titles are installed on your system, it is the same thing.
  11. Pepsi Max all the way. But on a serious note: the last update really did it for me. I can easily sneak past those pesky zeds again. I am not happy about them spawning inside buildings, but at the same time it adds to the challenge, not to mention weapon-less starters can pick up empty cans and bottles, press the F key until the word "throw" is showing, and then basically throw it like a hand grenade in Arma II. The sound of metal or glass hitting preferably a hard surface such as asphalt, rock or concrete, will attract zombies nearby – if they are within a 30m radius. I have only tried it once myself so far. I did it after sneaking up on a barn yesterday, and I was welcomed and promptly gang-raped by a family of six zombies inside their otherwise so charming barn. I was clinging the rifle I had just found on the second floor when the zombies commenced feasting on my body, leaving behind the fresh remains of a once survivor clinging to a rifle with no ammo. Do not be afraid to sneak into Chernogorsk to pick up some useful loot in there, and the castle ruins can be generous (I found two rifles on two floors in the same tower once). The zombies are easy to shake off as the area is littered with ruins and obstacles to break their LOS. For places like Chernogorsk, Balota air field and Eletrozavodsk, I recommend sneaking in during the twilight hour. There is just enough daylight to spot the zombies and other possible enemies, and dark enough to hide in the shadows to avoid detection. I am a newb myself, and casual gamer. I love Arma II and this MOD is terrific as well. Somehow it allows for casual game play (like when I spent an hour laying under a pine tree one pitch dark night, listening to the calm, gentle breeze in the treetops and admiring the starry night sky), with some intense action often when you least expect it. DayZ is flawed, no doubt, but at the same time very rich and vast on many levels. If we ever meet, I just want you to know that I am usually friendly (unless being shot at). Also, I die easily; one bullet to the head does it for me. It is a good thing that most of the supposed snipers in DayZ have no clue how to actually use their boom stick, so crouch, prone, get out of sight, "duck and cover!", and get the hell out of there when they open up on you and miss with the first shot.
