An issue with this... Frank: "Join my server" Bob: "Oh, It's full. I'll find one, you join me" Frank: "Ok, I'm quitting now"......."oh.. bugger, I need to wait 10 minutes" 10 minutes later.. Frank: "Ok, I'm joining!" Bob: "It's full!" Frank: "Ok, you join mine"....... And repeat..

This, Iv'e tried multiple times. Tried dragging to: Vicinity, inventory, in-between the spaces. Still no luck. May have picked up a bug?

Obviously, I can't comment on what other players may or may not see so unsure of how much of an advantage they'd get. I'll just tweak my settings instead... any possible feature as you say, could be abused.

If you're playing the mod, try this forum: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/6-dayz-mod/ The one you've posted in is for the standalone version.

I'm meant to be working.. yet keep checking the forum. ha. I'm going to try change things a little later on.. hopefully, it'll aid my dysfunctional vision :-D

Various games implement them differently. Someone told me, Simcity's mode changes the colours of the buildings. This, isn't just hud/text stuff. I've found programs that allow users to see what colour blind people see on their desktops... but, I can't find one that 'reverses' it. I think, it's probably best to fiddle around in the nvidia control panel instead. Even items on the floor... I can barely see! ha.

hi im am new to the game i have some questions
e00c replied to survivor85's topic in New Player Discussion
Survivor, Images? I'm not sure what you mean. Check out some "in game footage" on youtube. As for weapons + ammo. Yes & no, when you find them. They've recently reduced the loot (where things spawn and the quantity of loot). That said, I've still been able to pick up several pistols, ammo, mosin and even a military helmet so far. It's very, very, very early stages. The potential for this game is huge. They're lots of bugs that will kill you. Ladders for example... However, I'm thoroughly enjoying this experience! If, you want to jump straight into the game expecting to shoot people etc... It's not for you. If, you want a challenge and face different ones each time you log in or die... then go a head. -
I've made a couple of threads so far, ranting, asking for help! But for other 'new' players. Persistence is key. As tedious, boring and frustrating as it can be! Once I had some gear, it changes your whole attitude. You feel a new sense of confidence. It relieves pressure. My days so far: Day 1 I spent a few hours dying of starvation. No matter where I went or what server I was on, I couldn't find a single grain of rice. Day 2 Pretty much the same as day 1. Oh, I bugged on a ladder and fell to my death.... twice. Day 3 Headed inland, Found gear! Clothing, back packs, tons of food, weapons and a fireaxe! I felt good at this point, so decided to share my items with a few new players along the way... who I told to stand still and sit down first. Joined a player from the forum. It felt good to have a buddy! Made it to the airstrip, (he) looted a revolver and ammo. Sadly, he got an axe in his head! I was upstairs at the top, waited at the top of the stairs and shot him... quickly looted my friends body for his med kit to give back to him and ran.. I ran as fast as I could to the nearest wood. Simply in fear of his pals turning up. I tell you what though, it felt good killing him. The games about survival, I achieved my objective. Lesson also learnt... 1 should keep a look out! Only to log in and then lose all my stuff as a new spawn (bugged on me). Some pointers for newbies, from a newbie... Tear up your own t-shirt, this will make rags to stop any bleeding should you get hit.Everyone is a threat in this game. Keep your distance from them, even if they appear to be unarmed. Even when giving food, drop it on the floor and move away. If your offering directions, make them run in front of you.Town's with zeds around, is a good thing. Lowers the risk of other possible threats. If you know someone is behind you looting. Close the doors on the house's you're looting. It will slow them down :)Do a town or 2 on the coast, then head in land. Zeds CAN walk straight through doors... you're not safe.Try the smaller towns. Less loot, less chance of someone specifically going there.Night time IS safer. Just don't run around like Chuck Norris with your torch. In fact, throw it away to stop temptation.Don't sprint everywhere, I learned it lowers your energy. If you're playing with someone, don't use in-game voice chat. Skype, Steam voice, TS are all safer.Presume that everyone will kill you. Ladders are more dangerous than zeds. Death, broken legs! If the latter, quit the game, log back in.. your leg will be fixed! No compass? Use the sun! The sun rises & sets like it does in real life. Take in mind the time of day too though... You can also use the stars. If you don't know how to find North, check this video.Read these! Wealth of knowledge in them. Merino's Videos.. lots of videos The dayz map. Bookmark the link.Status Effects (hunger, thirsty) & cures. As much as I swore to begin with, It's brilliant. It's in Alpha, it's not really a game yet. Bugs will kill you, bugs will frustrate you. So what? Start again & carry on! Report any bugs you find too... that's essentially why we're here!

I'm not sure if they're accurate as to sunrise/sunset times. But, rising in the east-heading south-then west.... I've tested this a few times when I had a compass. Obviously it won't be 100% accurate unless you have a watch... It will give you a rough idea of what direction you're facing in.

How much blood does the saline bag give?
e00c replied to DropBearChick's topic in New Player Discussion
I had a very grey screen. Found a well, drank, ate, sat down (F3), drank, ate, drank, ate. Within 10 minutes I had full colour again. -
To my understanding (I may be totally wrong...). Colour blind mode is simply a filter that has been added? I know some people have "abused" this in battlefield. That said, my friend who has 100% eyesight, hates the mode. For him, he can't see anything... the roles are reversed.

Indeed. It's actually fun running round looking for new gear. I just pointed out a way to retrieve the lost char's. :)
-
Happened to me 3 times now, but - I've learnt that exiting the game a few times brings back the old char'.

My First Time Playing DayZ Standalone: DayZ-Reporter
e00c replied to DayZ-Reporter's topic in New Player Discussion
ahaha! Whilst I've not been in a fist fight, I know exactly how you feel/felt! -
WHY ARE YOU KILLING PEOPLE FOR NO REASON? -.-"
e00c replied to ThreeFailingPros's topic in New Player Discussion
"For no reason" You might think there isn't a reason, there is always a reason. Having only played for a couple of days now. Every person I've come across has been a friendly except 1, geared + nothing. I've helped feed other newbies and given them directions. That said, I went hunting for a guy earlier. He did nothing.. he was minding his own business. The problem was that he was looting the same town as me. Heading in the same direction. It means, less for me to survive! I would have probably left him, but he was plain ignorant. (e.g: he could have looted left side, I'll do right). I didn't actually end up killing him, sadly I lost him. -
I thought that when I first started.. However, my game play changed massively. Day 1 / 2 = no gear. I ran around without a care in the world. I had nothing to lose, except trying to find food. I had to be as quick as possible. Once I had gear, I could relax. Yes, there is the risk of losing it. But on the flip side, you can now defend your self. I think, for me anyway, that's why the pressure load was lightened.

It's rude to shout on forums :-p If you mean Dayz... via steam?! You've found this forum, so I presume you're capable of finding it on steam...

Spawning ON a friend I think is a bad idea. Spawn limit for groups yes. 2, 3 maybe 4 can spawn. Spawning within a 1000m radius I think is a much better idea. It would stop the possible abuse.. "Hey, spawn on me - I see some bandits, I'm dying etc etc". If people spawned within a radius of their friends, they'd still need to figure out roughly where to go. By that time, the bandits / battle should be over.
-
Zeds seem to be a bit 'iffy' at the moment. Some times you can just walk around them. Others, you see them sprinting towards you from the horizon!
-
Ah guys, I did post an update. I'm all good! SImply bad luck I think. It did annoy me yesterday though... after finding (given a revolver), logged off... came back on... all my gear had gone and I was a new spawn :( Not to worry! To other guys who experienced the same regarding loot.. keep at it! It'll come. Head inland is all I can say.
-
Cheers, I'm off to give it another blast now - so hopefully it'll go away. I presume the fire axe = firemans axe? No more avoiding zombies...
-
p.s: Night time is much more fun... and, it's easier to see other players / threats! :)
-
Helix, I'm a new player too. I've made a few posts. It's very frustrating, seems like a pointless exercise to start with... but.. I'm now surviving quite well! Backpack, hunting pants, a dodgy Russian hat I had to pick it up.. lol. Tins of food, cereal, hammer, refillable water bottle. I'm good to go!I even helped 3 people out so far with directions and food. It is certainly worth checking buildings people have already been in... yes, its a chore! But, I found a fireman's axe in a police building. In my opinion, your doing right heading inland. I've had no luck on the coast either. I'm currently in Polana, heading more inland then I'll head south to Cherno or Elekto (use the map! Click me). I too saw a rabbit, I tried punching it.. it just looked at me <_< Oh... and don't drink lots of water all in one go. I did this, I'm now "stuffed" AND "hungry" at the same time :-/ I'm not sure how to fix this?

oh... I'm now unconscious! Nothing happened.. I was watching my screen. No bleeding, no shots, no zombies. huh?! :-( .. how your fortunes can change within seconds
