I recently updated to the newest DayZ build today. It did a BattleEye update as well. I have not played for about a month or so. Now when I try to join a server it last for about 30 seconds once loaded then kicks me to the main menu. It shows the correct BattleEye version in the server messages. After 30 seconds It kicks me out and sends me back to the Main Menu. I have tried several servers and yielded the same result. I have uninstalled and re-installed the game thru Steam. I have uninstalled and manually installed the BattleEye Client per the directions on the BattleEye website. I get the same error message in all scenarios. I can find nothing in the forums that is of any help. Please assist. "Confirmation of Changes Authentication Timeout" BattleEye Client:v1.223 DayZ version 0.52.126010

UPDATE - Thank you for the attempt to help above. It is very appreciated. I wanted to let everyone know that after I made my post I decided I would reboot my PC before trying anything else. I don't know if the steps I took previously worked in conjunction with the reboot or what, but I was able to play on my first try after that. I did not need to take any of the further steps as outlined above. Thanks!

you forgot CARDIO

Site your references because cross platform MP FPS games do not exist. In fact the console version(s) of DayZ Standalone will unlikely be cross-platform. The versions and their respective communities will be quite separate. Shenanigans.

It makes me laugh when PC folks claim you can't aim accurately with a game pad controller. Seriously, lolz. YOU can't do it because YOU use only a keyboard and mouse setup. IF you have ever tried you probably sucked at it and vowed to never try again! Its just like any peripheral kids, the more you use it, the more you train, the better you can get with it. Some folks can use both, some are born with a controller in their hand, others a mouse. It's all preference. Anything else is just subjective semantics. Stop quoting mouse sensitivity stats also. Just because the mouse is capable doesn't mean you are. Zoinks.

Ever wonder what a 14 year old squeaker sounds like angry?

This post seems like a 14 year old wrote it. Pot to kettle, pot to kettle....come in please....*psssshhhhhfffffffshhhh..... -
First off, a PORT wouldn't happen until the game is ready and Alpha is over. So there is no issue to freak out over here. Second, with STEAM launching their own STEAM machines including their own game pad controller, they are looking at getting into the living room market and competing with consoles. They will be pushing for game pad controller support on STEAM games in the future and may even make it a requirement. It would behoove any publisher to integrate and support both control schemes in their games from the beginning and open themselves up to new markets. They are in this to make money, not stroke your ego or fuel the petty Console Vs. PC war. Just because you can't wrap your head around how they would accomplish this doesn't mean its not possible. I play games across multiple platforms. One shining example from just the last year is Diablo III. I played it on PC from launch and it had major issues, not just in the controls either. Later a console version came out. Guess what...the controls on console were WAY better than the PC version. That as well as gameplay mechanics changes and balancing made a mediocre unrewarding PC game into an awesome console game. So good in fact I uninstalled it on my PC. (PC version has finally caught up but I gave up on caring.) It can be done, and it can be done well.

Is anyone in DayZ Standalone friendly?
Cannon76 replied to BoBoSlap's topic in New Player Discussion
I am friendly, but I hide from you like a ninja. -
There are alternatives to the in game map which you have to find first to use anyhow. Try; http://www.izurvive.com/ (also there is an app for this on iphone and droid) or http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus Both of these are regularly updated with loot spawn locations and new towns, etc.

What he said. Berenzino is currently the PvP hotspot. People camp it all day for target practice. Treat it as a major hostile area and trust no one.

I dont know if this case was 100% combat logging. The guy was fleeing from you right? You were pursuing him right? I could easily see this person thinking they had gotten far enough away from you that they thought they could log off successfully. You can't assume he was aware that you were stalking him and so attempted to combat log to save his hide. Now if you tell me he was fleeing and exchanging fire with you the entire time and the engagement was ongoing up to the point where you saw him go into the house and rushed in after him...?...then it was definitely combat logging. Combat logging is the logging out in the middle of an actual firefight to avoid death. As in you initiate combat and things don't end up going as well for you as you thought they would so you puss out and log off. I have been in several firefights where things got hairy, and this game gets your heart racing like no other I play. (one of the reasons I freaking love it.) On several occasions I have had to log out to take a breather. SO if I had an adversary still on the field I wasn't aware of or was not currently engaged with I just combat logged? Bull$hit. Its just not that cut and dry as, "I was chasing him and then he logged off so he combat logged."

To the "friendly" guy who killed me and took my MP5

An open letter to the snotty barista at the Coffee Bean on San Vicente Boulevard: I know there were 20 people behind me in line, but I was on a cell phone call with my mother. Didn't you see me hold up my index finger? That means I'll order my soy decaf hazelnut latte in just a couple minutes. So what's with the attitude, lady? No tip for you. -
M4's pretty much can only be found at Helicoptor Crash sites at the moment. I am not certain of the number per server but I think it's 3 crash sites per server at any of a multitude of random locations. AKM's can be found in barracks primarily. At least thats where I have found them so far. LRS can still be found all over. I find them in storage garages all the time and in the tented military areas.

IF another player has you dead to rights, you seriously have NOTHING to lose by playing along that you weren't going to lose anyways. So why not play along and have an experience? There is no reason to get upset about an attempted mugging. You can choose to comply or go down shooting. It's always your choice. I would much rather have an experience than get KOS'd while I am eating a potato....

OR let them learn at their own comfortable level. Also, as someone said search the forums before posting. Most things have been asked multiple times and the answers are there. Then again, don't be afraid to ask. Someone will answer, and someone will troll, aaaaannnndddddd BEGIN!

Alternatively you can use http://www.izurvive.com/ There is also a downloadable app. You can get rid of the ads for $1.00. Or deal with them for 0$.

I don't see how a player's choice to commit suicide for any reason, even to respawn, affects other players in even the slightest capacity.

I personally think that you get more out of the game by not playing a KoS style. You can have some pretty interesting encounters with other players, both good and bad. There is a way higher risk level of that play style. I don't play as a hero necessarily, I like to call it a survivor style. I have been in combat but never initiated the hostility. I have both killed and have been killed in these situations. Sometimes it is complete BS in combat. Once I put 10-15 semi auto M4 rounds square into a guy who chased me into a tent and he just pulled out a pistol and dropped me in 3 shots. Then he double tapped my unconscious body for the kill. I don't even know how that was possible. I even heard him say over open channel after, "I dont know how the F I lived thru that. Nice!" The one time I killed a player and felt bad about it (for approx. 5 sec) I was running thru one of the new towns up north and had just found a shotgun as a new spawn. Another fresh spawn went running past me being chased by zombies at a full sprint and ducked into a piano house. I tried to communicate over open channel but they did not answer. I gave chase and killed both zombies for'em outside the house. I reloaded and tried to make contact again. No answer. I went inside after reloading and found the fellow just looting like normal. He was taking a long time to browse tho. I again tried to make contact on open channel and again no response. I approached him from behind, he was not aware that I was there. Then as he finished looking at whatever he was looking at he turned around and saw me. I did not have my shotgun in the ready position an there was about 10' between us. He immediately put up his dukes and charged at me so I brought my shotgun up and blasted him in the chest. He died. I can't really blame him for his actions but I wasn't going to let him try to knock me out. Honestly I think he may not have had sound because I don't see how he could have NOT heard me kill the two roamers outside on the patio and it might also explain why he didn't respond in open channel. I don't necessarily consider this a KoS but I did end up killing an unarmed fresh spawn player. I kind of felt bad about it. One time I spawned near Elektro and decided to see how long I could last running thru town. I had a horde of 5-6 zombie's chasing me about. This was when you could still outrun them. I started hearing shots and at first I was like, "Awesome, someone is going to help me!" Hahaha. Nope. I went down in the next 5 seconds. I was not surprised. =)

Are people still only at NE and Berizino?
Cannon76 replied to ramsfan00's topic in General Discussion
I think you and your side of the argument fail to realize that "server hopping is/isn't cheating" is a topic of DEBATE and not an accepted conclusion. I am not a server hopper, but I don't think its cheating and I personally could give two shites if you or someone else do it. Any reasons that have been stated as to why it should be considered cheating are complete and total BS. It doesn't matter, it doesn't affect you. You aren't a mentalist or clairvoyant. Even if it was cheating you have no idea of knowing who is a hopper or who isn't. When players go off and say, "I can tell he was server hopping because he had on a blue backpack and didn't crouchwalk slowly from building to building and he spoke with a lisp..." is just total complete garbage. And as far as I am concerned, personally, everyone's favorite reply to anyone who complains about something with this game applies here as well, "It's in Alpha." The developers and production team will have to make some decisions eventually on what they consider cheating and what they don't. What is actually affecting overall gameplay and what is just internet babies being babies. They will have to come up with plans in order to stop and/or deter them. Maybe there will be PvE only servers for those who are sick of getting KoS'd everytime they try to grab a weapon at an airfield or step off the beach. Maybe there will be PvP servers where players will do nothing but kill each other all day. Who knows? Not you and certainly not me. There is nothing set in stone. Hell, right now I am spending hours trying to find a boar to kill with my bow & arrow, or a pond big enough to fish in so I can cook some food. -

That's funny because I make big long loot runs all the time on servers and when I know I will be logging out soon I log out somewhere close to where I can start another long loot run when I log back in. To claim a server hopper has particular habits that tell you as an individual without question that they are server hopping is total an utter BS. This is merely you justifying your KoS mentality and its pretty weak. Quite frankly who cares how another player got their equipment? Did they buy the game? Yes. Did they play the game? Yes. Are they allowed to play on any server they want? Yes. Does it seriously and adversely affect you and your game? No. It doesn't. Not in the slightest. People will be logging in and out of any server ALL F'n DAY. To do what? Take a guess...looting for equipment and supplies. ANY server you jump on could be looted dry at any point that you log on. It's part of the F'n game. In fact its a pretty BIG part of the F'n game. Eventually loot respawning will be implemented and servers won't be resetting every 2-4 hours. The absolute non-issue will be even less so. Even then, people will still hop around looking for the server that's right for them, based on their individual needs, and gameplay desires, which won't necessarily match yours. So shove off. Let people be. Furrealz. -
Since 80% of the players seem to be PvP and/or KoS, I think you are an idiot for not having your weapon ready to defend yourself when entering certain areas. That shouldn't be indicative that you are hostile. Camo gear shouldn't matter either. Players are the biggest threat in the game. So wearing clothes to match your environment in order to better blend in is also smart, it doesnt make you a hostile. Additionally, higher end gear gives you better storage. Any player you see or meet is a potential threat and every encounter should be handled with caution.

How many hits from a zombie to kill you?
Cannon76 replied to SamualACarver's topic in New Player Discussion
if you were crouched when the zombie "hit" you, and I use the term loosely here, they can 1 hit kill you.
