  1. So, my friend Stephen and I were running through the woods north of balota southwest towards it, around 4:40 EST. We hear on direct communication a guy say 'help me' or something, so I spin around thinking it must be a bandit, but a DOG is being chased by a zombie at us. The dog was the player. I asked him why he was a dog, because I saw on the forums someone was transformed into a goat. He didn't respond, and over skype I told my friend to keep running. The dog chased us. I said hey, leave us alone, go away, thinking it could have been a hacker trying to tell our location to his friends, or worse. I didn't get the guy's name, but I think it began with an e, or an a, and was pretty short. elsine or something, maybe? So the dog keeps chasing us, I say stop following us or I'll shoot. He keeps following, and I shoot him with the revolver. He bolts off and appears to bandage himself because the dog visually stops bleeding. He comes back and I take out my lee enfield and fire a bunch, hitting him at least 3 times, but he doesn't die. He runs up to me and I tell my friend to log off. I disconnect, and my friend's leg breaks, and he said he "saw fire and smoke everywhere" then he DC'd. So I don't know what the hell was going on, if that was a cheat, or if the guy's character was legit bugged out, and maybe a sniper was nearby? Either way, I thought it was dumb that an invincible dog could possibly do this.

    Graphical Issues

Yeah, I tried tweaking all my visual settings and couldnt get this to go away. I noticed it awhile ago with barbed wire, especially intersecting barbed wire (in a forest near some guy's tents, we placed 4-5 barbed wires), but it wasn't THAT bad. Now that I'm at stary sobor, I can't tell if there is or is not barbed wire. Others in the thread have said it's the static dead military zombie corpses, but it's unplayable when trying to loot in there, you cant see zombies, and when trying to snipe nearby, you cant see any players. So it seems the artifacts are caused by objects - would different skins on objects fix this?
  3. Taken from the front page: Zombies Killed: 105,743,209 / 12,280,616 survival attempts = 8.61 Zombies killed on average per survival attempt. How sad. I guess after all the times people die without a weapon, the average is much lower. But once I get going, I rarely seem to die below 200 zombie kills. And it usually only takes 1-4 lives to get a gun and head inland (Sometimes I'll die with 0, which if people are doing, will significantly impact this average.) It takes far fewer tries I leave the coast without getting morphine because people LOVE sniping at hospitals. Maybe bandits are just grabbing guns, ignoring zombies, and hunting people? What could be causing this stat to be so extremely low? Do we really suck that much at killing Z's?

    Crawling is bullshit

Also, learn your east from west.

    Always one slow dude

Ok, so I don't tend to overtake my buddies who claim that 'my guy is faster' when I'm following them, so I think it works like this: They aim at where I am, not where I will be. Simply put, they aren't lined up properly, and while I run in a straight line they zig zag around losing ground slowly over time as we run from area to area. I don't think certain characters are blessed with faster run speeds.

    Average Zombie Kills

You'd be surprised how often it works out to assume "no one is here" Do you see the # of days you have survived as your goal, or zombies killed as your goal for a high score?

    Average Zombie Kills

Ohhhh, that makes sense. Didn't think of that. I feel like it's a highscore. How many zombies can you kill before you get killed? I guess other people don't care about it as much, so that makes sense.
  8. My favorite server did that to me, but then I tried another one and I wasn't stuck. I think it's most likely that something went wrong on the server's end of things. Too bad cause I had 2 tents filled with gear, hidden, and a group atv, bicycle, tractor, and parts.
  9. I'd prefer passive, behind the scenes 'skills' getting better. No classes, no professions, and only minor buffs that make you slightly better at something you've done a lot. It'll keep a level playing field while giving people something to achieve. Alternatively, we could provide an incentive for racking up zombie kills if you could actively choose which little passive abilities you wanted to be better at. Slight run speed bonuses, faster reloading, quickly applying bandages, slightly more max blood. I've done some searching and I've seen other threads on the topic, but the ideas to implement skills are varied. Some people propose books to get skills, (I think that's silly) and others want actual classes that make you good at a certain role. Most people don't want class-based systems, and I agree. Everyone should be able to do everything without dramatic differences or a need to be a class to fulfil a role. I don't think implementing skills would increase people robbing others rather than just shooting them. For bandits, their goals are probably the thrill of hunting you and getting more player kills added to their score. Any good loot you have is just an added side benefit. The thought "this guy will give me his items because he will want to save his character" will never cross the bandit's mind, because the next thought is "That is too risky."
  10. I'm having no problems with the patch. Yes zombies can see you easier, and I'm more cautious if I need to be stealthy, but I have a surplus of ammo and am doing just fine. As a matter of fact, I found some extra winchester and .45 ACP ammo lying around so I sprinted through town and back, and repeated to get about 150 more zombie kills. I even threw some flares to flirt with death and advertise my position to other survivors passing through. Zombies are easy for me to take because even if I'm running backwards in a field, I just wait for them to start the attack animation, run a little back, wait a brief moment, and fire at their chest. They will not hit with their attack because I am now out of range. However, since it seems the vocal (majority?) don't like the new detection range on zombies, perhaps it'd be better to make zombies more hazardous in a different way. I have an idea brewing, and I'm bringing it over to the suggestions thread: zombies slow you on hit, and you can't dodge by just sprinting forever. Balance it by making them not run quite as fast, and have a smaller chance of breaking your leg.
  11. I downloaded this program, autohotkey: http://www.autohotkey.com/ Then I found and made this script. Make a .txt document in notepad. save it as .ahk *Numpad1 up:: If (Sending){ Send {w Up} Sending := false } Else { Sending := True Send {w Down} } Return You can use Numpad1 as a toggle to auto run! No more using bowls to hold down the W key!
  12. Yes, a script you WRITE YOURSELF must be secretly a virus, you caught me. I'm out to get you, not make your life easier. The game should have an autorun option since 90% of this game is running. If you don't trust autohotkey (freeware), not made by me, scan it or something.

    Remove broken bones for now

Yeah, my friend and I collided in a doorway and my leg broke. Then it happened to another friend who was just learning the game. I killed myself when it happened to me because fuck crawling around trying to find morphine, it's shitty and not fun. I just searched the airfield, 2 towns, and every tent in stary sobor looking for morphine for him. I think its fine if a zombie did it, but glitched ladders or doorways, no way. We came out from the coast each with 1 morphine, but glitches on doorways broke our legs earlier, and we didn't find any by the time it happened again.

Should I keep the CZ 550?

Become a bandit and keep it.

    Street lamps at night

Generator + Fuel tanks = Light up the town. Good idea.
  16. I don't think its possible. This is a mod, and it heavily relies on the engine of arma2. Stuff like this you can't easily change without completely changing the engine. The closest it could come would be: mousewheel over item 'pick up'. You move slow, it's not taking up inventory space, and you mousewheel again for 'set down'. And it'd probably be like placing a tent: a nightmare. The game wouldn't have physics like fallout. And since we'd be using it for cover, we already have a mechanic for that: barricades.

    The pack

I'd second this, and add: if you clear out a town, or are in a town, zombies won't spawn in it 30 ft from you (aggroing the town when you've finally almost cleared them, but they happened to spawn again), but they will spawn in the woods or fields nearby and wander into town.

    End Game...

Since it's rather a sandbox game, you can make your own goals. Maybe you havn't found and repaired a helicopter yet? Maybe you havn't found a good team of survivors to coordinate with on teamspeak, vent, or skype? Challenges that remain for me: racking up zombie kills to top the leaderboards, or racking up player kills to top the bandit leaderboards (and NOT get shot along the way.) If I were completely alone on any server, I'm confident I could run around collecting ammo, never dying to zombies, hitting different buildings to find ammo, food and water. This would be boring for me. So I'm with you on 'there's no fun running around surviving in the woods'. To me, killing zombies is the same. Finding players make things interesting. I've talked my way out of a building that 2 guys could have easily shot me when I came out. I've been demolished by bandits. I've sniped the shit out people. I've been sniped and got away, and I've been sniped and didn't make it. If people are impatient and can't take the tough start of the game, then they shouldn't play it. I have a friend who whined and complained when the rest of our friends got on. It was too hard with only a flashlight, he said. He ragequit and never came back because now he doesn't start with a pistol and the zombies always see him (because he always runs and had no patience). Some people won't like the game, and that's fine. The game shouldn't cater to casual players. Make it interesting for the ones who stuck around, and enjoy it for what it is. I'm not sure I understand what 'endgame' you mean, or want. Minigames don't seem possible, or likely, given what the engine is capable of doing. Crafting systems are absolutely possible, and I'd support those.

    Your stupidest death

Climbed a crane ladder. Climbed some more ladders to see what was up top. Nothing was up top. Spent a lot of time trying to position my cursor so it would find "climb down" and not "climb up". Climbed down, got a broken leg, bleed out, massive damage as if I had fallen.
  20. NO It increases the learning curve for new players.

    Having Multiple Characters

I'd like the ability to just make a different profile and make another character. Sure, people could potentially exploit it by finding parts and bringing them all together, but surely there must be a different solution. Maybe just no switching characters to get on the same SERVER as one your other character recently went on. I want to be able to play solo, but my friends and I met up and I don't want to run off and die while they aren't around. I want to be able to make a character and run around / lone wolf it up while they aren't on.
