So, about the Mosin's new compensator...
The Beast of Chernarus replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
Both, the design is virtually the same. Hell even for my AK-2000 that uses the 5.56, its not the round but the design of the gas chamber. -
So, about the Mosin's new compensator...
The Beast of Chernarus replied to -Gews-'s topic in General Discussion
So many threads, so many people to teach about guns. Ok what you see there is a compensator, basically to help use the muzzle blast from reducing the barrel rise due to recoil. It allows for more follow up shots, at the expense of a louder report from the gun. Will it make your Ak47/74/2000 and more accurate? No. Again it alloaws for a faster follow through, so better shot placement but your AK's accuracy will be relatively be the same. The issue with the AK not being as accurate as the M4 or the Nagant has to do with the design flaw, wel not flaw per se but how it was designed. The gas tube which is bigger than the M4 is attached to the barrel that pushes a big piston connected to it. In the M4 the gas passes through the barrle which the pushes the bolt assembly in the reciever rather than attached to the barrel, so the AK has a lot of flex when you fire it (slow mo picts on Youtube would show you how much flex compared to others). This causes it to not be as accurate as the M4 and certainly not as accurate a s abolt action rifle like the Nagant. Why this design? Remember it was designed with Soviet tactics in mind where there is a massive charge, your job is to unload as much ammo on the enemy while running en masse... this is also why the first firing position for its lever is the "Auto" then the "Semi" -
Vehicles: For or against them?
The Beast of Chernarus replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I am fine with vehicles as long as they keep it realistic. Like a damaged car needs to be fixed, you would need a pump to scavenge for fuel and maybe a battery to get it started. Also, for this to happen, other parts should be fixable, for example the gas stations, some generators and what not. This would open up new ways of how the game is played and in a more cooperative role. This would elliminate some banditry and KOS as people try to coordinate more. Say for example, a group decides to get a town running. Clear it and get some vehicles, get some power on and the gas station running to get some fuel... with all this invested, you would need to protect it. -
i would only imagine that cleaning your firearm would only help in ways to make it more raliable but not fix it properly. The M4 can function without cleaning for a long time, the AK47 and the Mosin Nagant for even longer. However should this be implemented then i would only recommend the cleaning for the Nagant and the AK's due to the non chromed barrels and corrosive ammo used.

Technically it can be done. I've seen shots in real life that was 1000 meters with irons and just a bipod.

Indeed you are correct, I over simplified. Now more lesson on the M4 so some kiddies will have an idea. - A pristine M4 given that what is in the game has what lookes like 14.5 inch barrel, should have an effective engagement distance of 300 meters. - However, the effectiveness of the rounds in creating a kill shot diminishes as the distnace increases. At 600 meters your bullets will just be ice picks, will hit people but unless it hits bone, the guys can recover. Past that and grab your ass some Mosin Nagants. - However, depending on the ammo you have, say you find an SOST, that shortens the difference in effective range between the Mosin Nagant and the M4. The USMC is testing it in Afghanistan right now. - the 5.56 is however deadliest 300 meters and closer, with the M855/SS109 more effective for armored personel and the older M193 more effective for unarmored personnel. - If you want more accuracy for your M4, go prone hold your breath, and or use a bipod. Notice how many are not killed in firefights despite the volume of fire? *Why i went down to the details of the bullets, is because I noticed last night that the M4 is quite detailed in the game, with different types of mags, red dot sights, and furniture available. So it would just be time till that would be added (Oh please programers do add it) to make it more realistic.

Unplayable, almost

Think like a preditor, so you know how to avoid them. I avoid any forms of contact from other survivor. I go get into the cities to get gear and food than stay on the country side at the outskirts looking in. I was getting supplies in a hospital when I bumped into a survivor. I pointed my magnum at him and moved back, he got his ax and followed me to another room. Soon as he enterred the door I pumped 3 rounds into him. One instance I saw a new spoon bleeding, bandaged him up and gave him food and I moved away. Follow me and I will kill you. -
How to fix KoS and banditry with this great system
The Beast of Chernarus replied to phoboss's topic in General Discussion
I dont think Banditry or KOS is something to be fixed. You want a realistic game and you get it with that. In Typhoon Haian, parts of the Philippines were safe and there was a town or two where banditry and shootings occured. If you guys can't hack it in a video game, lol in real life. The solution is when clans can make server or teams join a server and form some sort of law by brute force. Any bandits will be hunted down and executed. -
Glad i found this thread as I now have to fire my guns to check for accuracy. As for those complaining a lot of you arent real gun users, so here goes: - The M4's arent usually accurate since this was the apocalypse and you just picked them up. They might have been dropped or damaged from its previous life hence losing its accuracy. So I do hope the mods implement that a rifle found on the ground will have issues with accuracy over one that is on a rack in an armory - In real life, changing scopes or sights, means you have to zero in your rifles aim. Either you boresight and callibrate your sights or fire of some rounds and fix your sights or work by adjusting your aim. (hope the makers of the game sticks to this or implements it) - Your accuracy is dictated by the shooters condition, heavy breathing and fatigue comes to play. - The M4 is not designed to be a broom stick, it is a precise assault rifle and works better in semi auto rather than a full auto one. This is why the M4, have the 3 round burst instead of the full auto. It is the M16 where the full auto is kept. I just got my rifle last night so i will check out how realistic it would be, hope it is as I dont want a COD wannabe, but a realistic survival game.
