Loot-hopping fix? Timer when entering fresh servers
ReRonin replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/01/30/dayz-patch-to-add-machetes-clapping-server-hopping-penalties/?ns_campaign=article-feed&ns_mchannel=ref&ns_source=steam&ns_linkname=0&ns_fee=0 Read up on the patch notes man. -
While I do like that there's a slow and fast vault over, it's indeed annoying that the animation takes so long and you can't do anything while it's doing its thing. I'd say it needs work, but it certainly shouldn't be removed.

You don't see a whole lot during the nights of DayZ, and it's a real pain if you want to scavenge at night, even if you have a head torch. There are some working light-posts on the streets (Although they don't give any proper light), this means that there must be some electricity in the cities. I noticed that most (if not all) rooms have lamps (that don't seem to be broken), but none of them have light-switches. So if you haven't guessed where this is going already, adding light-switches to rooms might add some nice interaction with the environment, and it'd make scavenging at night a lot more fun! You'd be able to tell which rooms have been visited, if people didn't turn off the lights. Of course, not every room/building should have a working lamp, most of them might even be broken. thoughts on this?

Shoes that get damaged over time and foot injuries were things that were already planned to be implemented, if I recall correctly. Great idea nontheless!

I think Rec0n412 was being sarcastic.

Or maybe a button that opens a menu with all the different hand signals you can make. It could be clickable, or it could just display the key you'd need to press while the menu is up.

If you're going to spam tunes, people will find you fast and try to take you down. Which, might be another good feature of this suggestion. You could lure players out of their hiding spots, at the risk of them giving you some free bullets through the motorcycle helmet.

I completely agree with you. If you're on an island, or something else that reselmbles Cherno, and an illness breaks out that makes half the population act like zombies. Who would risk it to eat the survivor you just killed? He might be infected, for all you know. Maybe you're the real infected one if you're starting to eat corpses. Heck, you'd probably just work together with any survivor's you'd find in a situation like that, but hey. No to cannibalism.

It's "Hunger and Thirst" or "Hungry and Thirsty" not both
ReRonin replied to repeater75's topic in Suggestions
While we're on this topic, the message "My stomach feels more full than it's normal" seems a bit off to me too. -
DayZ: Torture sim 2014. In all seriousness though, this would probably be incredibly hard to code, but could yield funny results if it were actually implemented. On the other hand, is this really necessary in a zombie survival game?

Good suggestion, but it's been done a multitude of times before. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/163035-beards/ Here is the earliest thread I found (Complete with in-game screenshot mockups!)

Totally agree with the idea of ballistic helmets and other kinds of riot gear. Would be nice if those items also added some kind of protection against bullets. Right now when you're walking around with a ballistic helmet, TtKSO jacket, a military vest and all that kind of stuff, one shot from a mosin would still be enough to kill you.

Steam Achievments - Possibly Encourage Player Interaction For Achievment Whores?
ReRonin replied to King of kong's topic in Suggestions
It would be your own decision to go after these achievements though. This would also encourage people to actually kill zombies instead of running straight past them. Then again, I wouldn't expect this to be added before the game reaches beta. -
Suggestion: Lootable zombies and loot not bound to certain "areas"?
ReRonin replied to Felony Inhibitor's topic in Suggestions
Sounds like a great idea! Was about to suggest the same thing but found this topic. Especially now these military zombies have been added it would be nice to beat one down and find a bit of gear (which would most likely be in badly damaged condition, but hey it's better than nothing!) The civil zombies could have batteries, hoodies and all that kind of stuff on them. Although I wouldn't add any weapons to that loot-pool, since if they had weapons before they were bitten, they probably would've been able to defend themselves. -
Sounds like it'd be hard to manage your inventory in the inner layers. While it would add to heat/weather protection, it would probably require a complete redesign of the equipment system. Instead of using both a hoodie and a raincoat, perhaps another item such as the TtSKO jacket could provide both heat and protection against rain.

Sounds pretty good! Maybe not all that useful, but then again, neither are spray paint cans.
