I haven't shot many people, so i really dont know how bugged this really is... but what i can say is this. 10 SKS rounds definately kills a man... I was the last guy left, on what was a 25 player rich server. I was running around solo. I decided to run past all the big cities to test my framerates(very poor of course.). Well i was near belota, so i decided to run over and loot it for SKS ammo and saline bags. Keep in mind i was the only guy on the server. After looting all the airbase, i go to the jail on the southside of the base, as it was the last building i had to loot. I was still the only guy on the server. I loot the upstairs room and suddenly a *gasp* server hopper spawns right in front of me. Some serious lag ensued when he joined so i backed around a corner to pull out my sks, you know, for self defense as well as let the lag settle. I then walk back out to confront the well armed, fully outfitted player, only to find him sitting on the ground, spinning in circles (combat logged XD) So after i dumped the full 10 rounds to his head and chest, he was dead. I couldn't believe it, out of all the places to spawn, he decides to spawn in right in front of me while i was the only other guy on the server... If i didn't know better, i would say he damn well deserved it lol So 10 rounds of sks kills a man, as well as serves a good role as server hopping bandit exterminator. Sweet sweet justice...

Is rain client side or server side?
MrJoeDirty replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I think it may be client... I logged onto a server and it was raining. About 45 minutes later my game crashed(first time ever...) and i had to reload Dayz. After i logged back into the same server, it was no longer raining. It may have just been a freak event... but until i hear otherwise, i will say the the transition from no rain to sunny skies made my game crash. Since it was raining when i was playing, crash, then no rain after i logged back in.(same server) therefore, making me lean towards client side rain. -
Seriously, everytime i am near zeds i hear them moaning and thumping around... it's erie, sure, but those rabbits man. The rabbits have this blood gurggling, hissing and alien-like growling... If the sound was frequent it wouldn't be bad. But the damn things are in the wild, so you can just be sitting or walking along and hear thier deathly noises when your least expecting it. The rabbits are bad... But the thing that makes me jump the most and nearly have a heart attack, is when my RL house is silent and all i hear is bird chirping in the game audio, when suddenly my phone lights up and rings as my wife calls me... makes me crap my pants every single time... as it is something you don't expect in a zombie survival game :P
-
lol I wish i had a recording of the sounds they make... you would definately think twice, even if it looked like the bunny above :P The game is forcing you to trust nothing... no people, no wildlife...

What Is Your BIGGEST Pet Peeve In DayZ?
MrJoeDirty replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Trying to be stealthy, then my guy randomly making the sounds of a full 1000 man army reloading at the same time... -
I had a huge lag issue. It hasn't just a drop but it was going from like 25 fps to 3 fps back to 31 back to 2.... it was in waves. I then dropped all my "compressed" inventory items. Things like protector cases, med kits and ammo crates. The items that take 4 spots in your inventory, but can hold more slots within themselves. After i dropped these items and left the area my framerate was back to normal after running about 300 meters away. My game ran perfectly fine after this.

Thanks for the tip. As this is the first time i succesfully fought off a KOSer, I didn't have any previous experience of looting dead bodies(with anything valuable anyway). I guess you learn as you go... bugs and all. Luckily, after i returned to town, i found an SKS in the building next to the event. Clearly dropped there, as it was not a spawn location. ;)

I died being forcefed M4A1 magazine rounds...
MrJoeDirty replied to ImDeafDontShootMe's topic in General Discussion
I didn't even realize there was any other way of giving people things, aside from dropping it on the ground or as Proper Gander stated, recieving things at 3400 fps. So maybe your buddy just read it wrong? Maybe he mistakenly read forcefeed ad "give"... -
Probably not. Simply for the sake of avoiding people looting privately on their "personal" servers and walking into a public servers like: "What up, i am a good shot. Nah, i'm just playing, i looted this from my private stock."
-
Probably a bit of lag or desync... I killed a guy(self defence) yesterday and took his M4. I even took the clip out, refilled the ammo and reloaded. I then crawled to cover, as the guy had broken my legs with his m4. I shot myself up with morphine... and started running to cover to eat and drink. I ate and drank and started healing, i then went back to the town the firefight ensued. I went to equip the m4 into my hand, but it wasnt there. I never logged out or anything. Sometime in the 10 minutes of running for cover and healing, my guy just got clumsy and dropped it? lol

When your making a cake, you can't just add everything into one bowl, mix it up and poor everything in a pan and just expect a perfect cake to come out of it. No, you have to add things one at a time and take the right steps to make everything right (alpha), then when all is said and done you can add the icing (beta). Once it is mixed, baked and iced you can enjoy it.(Final) It just takes a bit of prepwork and time. Be patient, they really are moving along in leaps and bounds.

Currently, there is no need for anything you suggested. Just try to walk upstairs in a house and hide there when you know 1 or 2 zeds were chasing you. You will notice that they simply teleport through walls and hit you through the floor. So there is no need for them to be able to open doors, break windows, jump rooftops or climb ladders. As for the whole breaking into cars, we don't even have cars yet!

This, like everything else, has probably been talked about before. But what do you guys think about a change in the current death system? Instead of bang, black screen "you are dead", why not make it a little more informational of sorts. Death can be quick i agree, but i don't like hearing bang and done. Could we ever see some sort of event better than bang, black? Maybe not exactly, an instant replay, but could we ever have some kind of death 2-3 second sequence? Where, when you are killed, you fall to the ground and look in the direction you were hit from, blink slowly as your screen goes black within a few blinks. Just so you have an idea of what may have killed you and where you were shot from? I can already hear many of you who use teamspeak saying this could be a bad idea and a dead give away to those out to kill, anonymously. But i think, just some sort of visual que of the direction form which you were killed would be great. Aside from the audio sounds, a visual would give players a better understanding of where they were killed from and what corner they didn't check well enough... Just my opinion, i think the black screen is good for a headshot, i can give you that. But if i was shot and killed by 6 shots to the leg, i am sure i could at least swivel around to see where they came from before i fell over dead. What do you guys think? Edit: Removed the word "kill cam". Reason: Users not creative and openminded enough to create useful feedback.

I definately think this idea will stick :D If your a bandit, or have a habbit of killing more than you die, your character should form some sort of syndrome. Something like Tourettes or something. So anytime you are near a person, your character blurts out things... like: "F#$% YOU!" or "YOU S#$%HEAD" You know, anything that expresses the kind personality of a bandit.(K/D above 1.0) You could even go as far as making heros/victims say things like: "I LOVE YOOOUUUU!" or "I need a hug" You know, that mushy mushy i'm a nice guy stuff.(K/D below .25) Just a very humorous idea... funny to me.

The best idea for bandit identification
MrJoeDirty replied to MrJoeDirty's topic in General Discussion
It may not have been serious... but it was in idea to work with. When your player is hurt in game, he/she make noises and says different things. So why not, from the phsycological toll killing ha on the brain, characters develop disabilities that makes them twitch or blurt out things? -
I'm not saying that if your shot and wounded, your character should look that way or anything. But only when you are fataly wounded, then you have a quick 2-3 second death sequence where your character spins around and looks in the direction they were just killed from. Rather than bang, dead.

Do Bandits make DAYZ? Yes, definately. Bandits are essential to making the game fun. They make the game more challenging through and through. Like others have said, DAYZ wouldn't be DAYZ without Bandits. With that said, would i like an "easy ride" by removing bandits and making PVE servers? No, well not completely. I could agree with having a seperate hive where there are standalone PVE servers that have PVP disabled. Where poeple could team up, shoot zombies and not worry about being shot in the back. I could see that as being a possibility in the future. You could even add a dueling feature within those servers so poeple could PVP. But a definate no for a "easy ride" on standard servers. I have had a large number of encounters with other people in this game. Only once, out of all the times i have encountered an "unfriendly", was he a true bandit. Like a gentleman(of sorts), the man told me to freeze and submit. He then handcuffed me and sifted through my belongings, taking the valuables and leaving the rest. He then ran off, leaving me there to wiggle free. The encounter was crazy, it was a rush and it also sucked for me. But i was ok with it, at least i lived. As for all the other encounters, they were what many refer to as "Bandits". These players ran in groups of 3-4. They are all well equipped and run together. These are the guys that run on the coast and kill everyone they see, equipped or not. Not just kill, but kill without warning, kill at a distance. It's ok to kill poeple, its part of the game. But to kill poeple on sight, never to say a word or anything, thats different. I don't care if i get killed, just as long as it is somewhat justifiable. Yell at me, drop me to my knees and shoot me in the head then, but not without a warning or reason. I want to see the man that shoots me, i want to hear his voice and look him in the eyes! It's disappointing, how these poeple have changed this game, even in the last month of my play time(I never played the mod). I used to be able to approach most other fresh spawns and work together for a bit. But now its just fists and guns a blazing. I stood at a spawn point near Novy a few days ago, I had 2 of everything*. I was ready to give my spare axe, mosin, cantien and medkit to a freshspawn. I was looking for a DAYZ buddy :) I lingered around the Novy area for about 3 hours. In that time, 5 freshspawns appeared. Everyone of them, as soon as they saw me, the logged off. Everytime, i know its not because they were just logging off. They were scared, they had obviously been killed too many times to trust anyone. I didn't appear bandit-like either. I had on civilian clothes all around and everytime i saw one of the spawns, i would simply ask if they needed help. Sure, i was well equipped, but just because i have a gun, does not mean I am just going to automatically shoot. Be a DAYZ Bandit... but don't be a "Bandit".

Either its bug, glitch exploit or Hack just reporting in forum
MrJoeDirty replied to arturkanx's topic in New Player Discussion
Yep, i have this issue too i guess. I was at NWAF yesterday i was hiding in one of the 2 story buildings there, as i knew there were others ther since my buddy had been killed by them. I waited and waited, then finally they oped the door and i unloaded on the 2 of them. I had to have gotten at least 5 rounds in both of them.. but they never dropped or died. They retreated around the building, as did i back around the corner by the stairs. I then stood there, aiming down sights waiting for them to pop back around. I was not moving, just sitting patiently. Suddenly, i heard a shot from mosin behind me in the building, but nothing was there as well as nothing was in front of me. Again, i looked behind me and heard a shot, as well as a blip of a barrel through the wall. I then shifted away form that wall, back to the entrance of the building, watching ads the entire time. Suddenly, bang, a finally gunshot rang out, dead... But never once did a guy ever pop around a corner, nor did they combat log(i never heard a log, i also did a quick spin occasianlly to check my six.) The only explanation is the guy was trying to use desync and lag to shoot me through the wall. I mean, is this a thing? Have people ever seen or used these techniques? I know Zeds can do whatever they want, but can other players do it too? If this is a problem locally with my end, how can i fix it? I have 10 down and 1 up. I generally play on 40-60 ping servers. -
Actually, anytime somone says actually, they are actually probably lying about something and/or may actually be telling the truth...actually. As for myself, i have actually killed just 1 person ~80 hours of play.

Can't play: "You were kicked off the game. Battleye: Client not responding"
MrJoeDirty replied to Amagous's topic in Troubleshooting
What kind of rig do you have? If your rig can't run DayZ correctly, there will be problems between you and the server. I have a buddy that can't run DayZ. Everytime he goes to play the game logs him back off because his GPU and CPU can;t keep up. But of course, there could be other reason also. But i am suspecting that this is your problem, unless you can prove otherwise :) Just list the specs on your rig and we will go from there. -
Yes, this game needs to evolve more into a coop survival game for sure. Adding more zombies would be a good start, just so poeple will almost have to team up, just to repel the monsters. As for KOS, it needs to slow down... somehow. I have played this game for over 80 hours. In those 80 hours i have killed 1 person. Reason being, he was killing some guy that just spawned(still in loading screen) who had full loot. But aside from that i haven't killed a single person. I am one of those that wants to help and have fun. Like you said above, this game is very emotional and phsycological. Which it is. Which is what gets me the most. I give everyone a chance. I help everyone i come in contact with. For example, I have been playing the same character for about 25 hours. I had everything you could ask for. I had loads of food and drink, medical supplies and self defense tools. I was near the coast for about the last 6-8 hours of play time. I was taking the equippment i had and giving it out to the fresh spawns. In total i would guess i helped about 30-40 fresh spawns, giving them a variety of the things they needed. I had a fair share of encounters with other poeple too... I hid in a spot and would just pop out when i saw somone passing. I would then offer them my goods... Even other fully equipped guys. I confronted everyone though, i never had my gun drawn. So i never appear as a threat. Well yesterday i helped out a group of about 3 guys. giving them all food and drink and giving them a medpac and saline bags, to use as a group. They were very thankful and went on their way. I then retreated back to my "hiding spot" and waited, but then 30 seconds later i was shot in the back by an m4... Never a warning, no voice and no chat. He just walked up and unloaded on me. Killing me on sight. It's one thing to be a Bandit, but it's another to kill on sight. All i can say, is that those who KOS have a low maturity level and are probably emotionally unstable. How can you even KOS? This game has emotional and phsycological ties that killing should trigger. Though its just a game, your taking the life of some other person. In my case, thats 25 hours of nothing but friendly selfless play time. Giving away, in many cases, more than i could afford to. When killed you just ruined the day for me, as well as all the other potential poeple i could have helped. Fresh spawns are always there... most just kill them on sight. But these are in many cases, are new players that need just a bit of quick tips and resources. Give them a chance, run up to them and give them a few pointers and point them in the direction away form the coast. Seriously, everyone was a new spawn at some point. KOS makes more KOS(ers), like CJ14 stated. As for myself, i will not let my good spirits vanish. I will continue to assist everyone in anyway i can. This is the first game to ever make my stomach hurt from nervousness and adrenaline... just because of the "trust or not to trust" aspect of the game. I will continue to trust and assist others. Until there is an alternative to KOS, i will continue to try and reinstall trust into other players harddrives.

Framerate fix for those with Switchable Graphics(Samsung)
MrJoeDirty posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I know i have been having a problem running Dayz standalone on my Laptop. I have a Sumsung ATIV Book 8. The laptop with built in Intel 4000 graphics as well as an AMD Radeon HD 8770m. The problem I have had, as well as many others, is that i couldnt get Dayz to run any higher than 8-10 FPS no matter what i did with my graphics settings. I found out how to fix this and most of you could be making the same mistake. Assuming most of you who have switchable graphics know, when you right click with your mouse on your desktop you can enter the Switchable graphics options. If you have recently played or opened Dayz, it will appear in the list of apps. Like me, you probably set this to "HIgh Performance". Well, doing that does nothing, the Radeon GPU will never kick in. What you need to do, is when your in these option, search for an application. From there you will need to find the file "Dayz.exe" it should be found within your Steam>Steam apps>Dayz>Dayz.exe. Select Dayz.exe and change this to "High Performance". This should take care of your graphics cards switching correctly. Unfortunately, even with this fix, i can only run the game at about 25 fps. But i am still adjusting my graphics daily to try and get it to run smoother. But i would say 25fps is much more playable than 8 fps. If this helped any of you guys let me know! I will be updating this with my in-game graphics settings later. If at all possible, share what your graphics settings are for those of you with similar machines to this or those of you who have had switchable graphics problems. Hope this helps!
