Perhaps a few of you can recreate this and or have had an experience with it... I had the Amphibia .22 and was posted up on top of the firestation just north of NEAF. The true reason for me to have a .22 pistol with no clip and a fireaxe up at those hieights.... well, I was being chased by 2 fresh spawns, fists a blazing. Anyway, I was up there for about 10 minutes after the spawns had left and decided I would just keep chambering my Amphibia and firing off the round into the sky, since I had like 50 rounds to blow. Whilst chambering, firing, chambering and firing I realized that if I started repeatedly clicking the fire button while my character was doing the reloading animations, I was able to shoot off like 15 rounds after the animation commenced.... While I was doing this, a guy popped up the ladder and laid down next to me and asked me to shoot him. So I figure I would just do the little glitch and see if the 15 glitched rounds I fired actually did anything. Unfortunately, no... The guy had been up at the top with me for about 15 seconds now and he was laying on the ground asking me to kill him. Since my pistol glitch wasn't doing the trick(only 1 shot out of 15 registered as a hit) I was just going to get my fire axe out to do the job. When suddenly the guy disappeared. 5 seconds later I was getting wailed on by the guys and his invisible fists. Followed by "get owned son! You suck noob. I knocked you the F out" you know, the usual BS when someone kills you and/or knocks you out. Though he had no room to trash talk considering 1) he was invisible and 2) I clearly wasn't trying very hard to defend myself. This was on Experimental and I also had a bike helmet on, if that relevant or not. I am not sure what was going on. I guess I just want to know if anyone else has experienced one or both of these glitches? Are they related to each other, or was I just fortunate enough to stumble upon them both at the same time?

How often do the Experimental Servers reset?
MrJoeDirty replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
There seems to be a few of the exp. servers that don't reset very often. I was on one of them, low population and I fiddled with loot and dropped some. I dropped a motorbike helmet, 3 empty sodas and a bag of rice 30% left. I then left the area and went to bed. About 22 hours or so later, I was playing. I went back to that area and found everything just the way I had left it. This leads me to assume that some of the servers don't reset frequently* (could be tested stability over time?...) Anyway, yeah, just join the higher pop servers. The people seem to know where to go to find loot :D -
I visited this place last night. They have all the objects there, it seems, but they still have to glue them in place. There are also a few empty holes in the town, so there could be some more buildings popping up in there :D

So first, to the man who chased me for 15 minutes straight.... playing some terrible dance/club music and punching me repeatedly in the back as I was sprinting away, screw you... Second, this guy was chasing me FULL SPRINT and punching me at the same time. Since he was using his mic to play the music through, I could also here him going to town punching keys on his keyboard... What in the hell button combination was he using to do this? Is it a bug or a cheat? When I was looking back at him, his guy was doing some odd hand motions the entire time... I couldn't pinpoint what the actions were exactly. But he was successfully landing hits with it! Let me know if you guys have any info! EDIT: This is on experimental.

why is backpack spawn rate in construction site keep getting lowered?
MrJoeDirty replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
If you don't want to search the construction site for a backpack don't go there. They reduced the spawn rate because the backpacks would spawn almost 100% of the time. On top of that they were the largest backpacks in most cases. It's just to make loot more rare... The construction yard near Berezino is right next to a spawn, to let a fresh spawn have the backpack within 2 minutes of play almost ruins it... They aren't even crazy rare... most times, if I run over to the site, there is usually a small backpack on the top floor. You just have to look, you can't have what you want every time, hence the reason you must run around and loot everything... There is a variety of things that spawn at the construction site... Not just backpacks. Btw... Why don't you just ask them to remove every building that doesn't spawn a backpack or weapon? You attitude seems to suggest you want to... -

OMGitzGnar is exactly right, taking the -winxp out of your launch should allow the game to reset properly while you change settings.

DayZ (S) not working on my new windows 8 Laptop
MrJoeDirty replied to Dom Stower's topic in Troubleshooting
You may not be able to play very well... That CPU is bad... for DAYZ anyway. Your PC says it has AMD dual graphics... have you opened catalyst control center and changed the settings for your graphics cards to "Maximum Performance"? I am not terribly familiar with PC things... but I know, from what I see on that PC that it might have a difficult time playing. These are my specs on my laptop below...($1300 laptop....) Operating System Windows 8 (64-bit) Processor Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 3635QM (2.4GHz) Display 15.6" LED Full HD (1920 x 1080) System Memory 8GB Storage 1TB Graphics AMD Radeon™ HD 8770M Graphics With these I rarely get great gameplay. Usually I am playing at about 30 fps in the wild and 15-20 in towns.... This is with just about everything low and off... Based on CPU Benchmark info... your processor is about 40% as powerful as mine.(it scored only 40% of what mine did...) -
I am going to use average loosely here... Average is about 8-10 hours... that's when I play smart.... If you want a literal average, meaning you factor in all the times I just play stupid and run the coast and die, then my average lifespan is probably closer to 15 minutes...

What would suggest for a guy with my programming experience?
MrJoeDirty posted a topic in Technology/Programming
Like many of the guys do nowadays, i want to be a software developer. Unfortunately, during my time in highschool, due to the size of my school, i never had any computer courses that taught anything practical... other than Word and Excel.. even then it was just the basics. On top of that i didn't have the resources($$$) required to attend a college to study programming, as well as i was very intimidated because i had literally zero experience with anything code related. Well, i have been on nightshift for the last year... working in a lab, very slow and boring work. Because of the nature of the work, i have had a lot of free time. Over the last year, I have studied the basics of programing. Although it was very on and off, I studied a few... JAVA, C#, C++, VB(built a few very nice macros in excel)... When i say i have studied, that's literally all i have done, i have read books and watched tutorials and did a few ridiculous exercises to learn everything basic. In the past year i have learned a lot... but never really made any software. That's why i am here, asking you guys. Many of you are seasoned programming students and vets... What would you guys suggest? I have just never really been pointed in any direction or told "you should try this first". Most the tutorials online are made by kids who are going to school, so there are thousands of videos on how to create a "hello world" program or something similar... but none of them really go much further than that. What i would like is a few things answered as i am sure many of you here, who are developers or have experience, are interested in game development or something along those lines. What should my first step be? What language? Should i poke around at a bunch of little projects or should i just learn more as i go while developing something larger? What worked for you guys? How much experience in actual development did you have before you really started to get the hang of it? I am a fast learner. I am a perfectionist. I am a "do it till it is right" kind of guy. I utilize trial and error like it is a gift from the gods... I love challenges as it is the best way i learn. I don't care if the project would take me 2 days or 2 years, If it is the best way to go, that's what i want to do. Let me know! I need a good push in the right direction. (link dumping is ok... if you must.) -

Can we expect the NEAF glitch spot to be fixed any time soon?
MrJoeDirty replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
Am I guilty of using said glitch spot?(I have only been to NEAF 4 times now...) Yes. When I found/used said glitch spot, I was kind of proud of myself as I had found a bug(without any previous knowledge of it.) When I was in and using the spot did I kill people in the hangar, tower or anywhere else on the airfield? Yes, well but not in a negative way. I was just surprised I found it and so I just laid there as I watched some TV, I was honestly just bored and was curious what the traffic was like at the airfield. I was there for about 3 hours.... just laying there watching. In those 3 hours, I ran into 11 people. 2 of those players were server hoppers that looted the east jail and watchtower, I left them be, as I wasn't looking for action, just watching the traffic flow :D 3 were players that legitimately ran to the AF, looted every building and went on their way... but the other 6... oh you dirty bastards, you... the other six all spawned at the glitch and attempted to get in it immediately... each of them, fully geared.... M4s and more ammo than a single server spawns... Lets just say, within a few seconds of them spawning, I gave them each a few extra bullets to hold onto  Needles to say, during my "Bird watching" I was able to spare the 3 legit players lives, as they would have been filled with lead if I hadn't been there fighting off the Bandits :D Heros: 6 Bandits: 0 Edit: I made my way from novy sabor to the NEAF... The server had about 15 people on when I joined... by the time I ran into the glitch... the server had fully populated... Edit: Edit: It is horrifying when someone literally "walks over you" but doesn't even know your there.... really gets the blood pumping.... -
He said that the mindset that "kos is inevitable, players will always KoS" just needs to stop. That is not saying KOS is a problem. What that is saying is that people need to look at the larger picture. KOS will always be present, absolutely, but KOS could become less frequent when things like this > "Multi-person tasks will make players more valuable as allies.". Things like this will not eradicate KOS, but it could make it less appealing and stimulate more team based gameplay. "So stop saying "KoS can't be fixed because people are assholes." It can be fixed, and gradually will:" Again, the OP did not say that KOS was a problem. He more or less said that KOS will become less attractive when other features are implemented into the game. The OP should not have used the word fixed in this statement. He should have used, like I have, things like "It can be made less attractive" or "it can be less appealing". The original comment I replied to was just a guy that had nothing good to say. He clearly didn't read the OP. He just saw a thread on KOS and posted a stock a-hole response. If he would have read the OP, then he would have realized that the OP was "not trying to fix" KOS, but was putting information out there that could, in the future, tune KOS out a bit. He was simply summing up what we will be seeing in the future and why these features would, theoretically, turn people away from KOS.

OP never said KOS was a problem, nor did he make any attempt or proposition to fix it.

Reasons why Horses, Dogs, Wolves and Bears are NEEDED
MrJoeDirty replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
Your like countering yourself.... to a point. The community is building this game. The community DID build this game. It will just take time. So far, the community is really enjoying the "best zombie/hunting/crafting/roleplaying/sandbox/whatever" direction this game is taking. Well, because that is where the community is pushing it. If you want "the best zombie game ever", you can look at many, many other title out there that are excellent zombie games. I am not saying Dayz will never be the best zombie game ever. What I am saying is that the community is making it much more than that.
