All vehicles saves are limited to the server you found them in. Simply "Save [the] Vehicle" and it will "most likely" be there when you return. Disembarking the vehicle itself automatically saves it, along with repairs/damage.

Tent placement requires extra effort. Lying down, with the gear menu, slowly move side to side, up and down(slowly), and hammer the pitch tent option until it takes.

Press "L" for turning on the flashlight.

You should leave some grid marks so we can get a good tic tac toe match going on.

So I found my first map, compass and watch..

Typically normal. Just look around and notice any landmarks that you can reference with your map. Land marks can be almost anything, roads (types), elevation (hill/mountains), forests, towns etc. Also, every time you log on, the bottom right hand corner will state the nearest city/settlement for a brief moment. If the mentioned tips above are still too difficult, I suggest you find a server running Recruit Difficulty. -

Which BETA version is the client/server running? There was an issue where people could use the channels even though they were disabled. (Briefing screen workaround), which was fixed in recent BETA patches.
