    The Electro Axe killer! [Video]

Not even death can stop him from sating his thirst for blood.. AND VENGEANCE!
  2. So, in our second attempt at harnessing the powers of a motorized vehicle, this happened. Althought you may bring my parking skills into question, I wish the car physics weren't this unreliable! But, it was still fun driving around, i just know to never be remotely close to.. well anything.

    Flying cars in DayZ [Video]

While the helicopters are not yet in the game, there is an alternative for those who wish to take to the skies as a means of transport in the 1.0 update.
  4. So ever since 1.0 released, I've noticed that sometimes when playing, it will be a clear day, then suddenly out of nowhere a fog is suddenly " Switched on" . It doesn't slowly roll in, it magically appears. But, for my friends i play with they have no fog at all. And apparently they rarely/never do, even though we're right next to eachother wherever we may be in the landscape. To top it off, sometimes it will even start to rain on my screen, affecting my player, but not the other people i play with with that I run alongside. Does this mean weather and fog is client-side now? Sometimes the fog is very very thick for me, while my friend has a clear day. If people are running around with different weathers, this can mean some players have an unfair advantage over those without this thick fog. Nothing in the settings I have found seems to do anything about this issue, either. Does anyone else have similar experiences?
  5. I have been playing on both official AND community servers with this problem appearing. Both private and public ones. He could see for several hundreds of metres, I could barely see for a hundred metres right next to eachother. It's been like this most of the time. My computer is very high end playing on all the highest settings. His computer is a bit lower end, playing on medium settings.

Exp Update: 0.58 + Hot Fix.

I think the game has improved a lot in terms of mechanics and visual smoothness. I'm just a bit piffed that Its still so unstable I cannot play on experimental at all :/ I played for five minutes, was kicked due to desync and lag and now unable to join. Oh well. I get it, it's dayZ. And experimental on top of that. But I'm just a tad dissapointed still. Happy to see progress on other sides of development though.
  8. So I loaded up dayZ and found a server with the highest population I could. About 50 or so. Upon loading i noticed the server message was "[PvP] kill everyone" or something like that. And I thought, oh well shit, i better find another one after I can get out of this loading screen. Then while it was saying " Please wait" I heard a voice from the game. Some player voice called at me briefly. Shit i thought. Welp, I guess that's it, I'm dead. My character by the way I remember now Is out in the NW vast open plains, but i think far enough away from any major conflict point. I see red text appear on the left side of the screen as i am still on " Please Wait." " Your leg is in pain, your leg is broken, etc" So, finally after what feels like half a decade because my computer is not up to scruff, I finally get in and the black fades. It takes a while to adjust and stutters a lot. When I finally can see clearly, I notice i am indeed in the middle of a field. I'm laying prone as if I have been knocked down. I look around me and see two, yes two V3S driving around me in circles, as if to taunt me. One was green, the other was gray. I talk over the mic " Well damn. Isn't this some bad luck." The green one charges at me and the gray one knocks into him a moment before his front end would hit me and they veer off into circles again. I can't tell. Are they on the same team or just fucking around with me? The green one charges at me again, this time it seems he isn't stopping. I roll to one side. A faint. I quickly roll back to the other side as the car starts turning the way I originally had rolled to and missed me by an inch. I crouch up and get my gun out. He's turning around. He's coming again... The gray truck is not coming to my rescue this time. I take aim. I say to him over the mic " I guess I'll see you in hell, buddy." I take a shot directly at the driver only moments before his front end smacks into my skull at a high velocity and rips it open. You are dead. If i killed him or not, I don't know. I kind of doubt it as i did not see a blood spray on his person the split second before he crashed into me, but oh well. That last part kind of sounds like something out of a movie, but oddly enough it all actually happened this way. I find it quite wierd to be immediately found by two players only seconds, literally seconds after loading in. Did they somehow teleport to me? Or is it just all mad considence they were out here, driving their V3s on that field. Hacks? Considence? I'm not really angry either way as i died from something completely out of my control. My Computer is pretty bad so I tend to avoid conflict and if i meet players I'll be just passive / friendly simply because I don't really have the performance to put up a solid fight.
  9. Wow, that first one.. what an obvious hacker. He even waved as to taunt you it seems.
  10. Nice vid man. Quite entertaining. I like how you kept your cool when you were ambushed and managed to clean them out. Sharp skills! Nice holdup, too.

    Status Report - 17 Feb 15

Sooo many cool things to look forward to. Day Z is most definately going in the right direction. Great job development team! Regarding polishing fireplace mechanics, I have some thoughts on this: I would like there to be many different ways to create a fire depending on which items you have at hand and the state they are in and the state of the environment around you. Some firemaking items could include: Flares, Gunpowder from ammunition ( dry - Wet - condition makes a difference), Battery & Gasoline, Friction with a stick, Smashing the right rocks together to make a spark, etc. Some would be easier to do and some would be harder. It would depend on things like humidity, windage, the condition of the item and the chance of a successful fire could vary to balance it. Just some thoughts ;) Keep up the good work!

Shotgun most worthless weapon the game?

Seems the shotgun damage is very random from player to player. A few days ago I saw in the new town outside of svetlo in experimental ( Maybe exp has something to do with it) But I saw a guy in a hospital hallway ( I was in the door) and he was all the way at the end of it and I took him out with a single shot. I dont know if he had a helmet or not, I can't remember.
  13. Thats wierd! Pressing enter does nothing for me :C
  14. Been sitting here clicking on 40 slot servers for 20 minutes non stop with one hand on left click to connect and one hand on space to dismiss the " max players message" and waiting through the countless " joining server" followed by " could not connect" which happens 60% of the time really bums me out :C I'm very impatient and I really want to test this game! I wonder if I can make a macro....
  15. I'm really happy to see some of my major quirks with the game beeing taken seriously and ironed out as the development progresses. But there is one thing I wonder if it will ever be solved. And that issue is hit detection and how you see players in the game world. Let's take melee combat for example: When fighting another player with melee weapons there is no telling where your hits will land. It's not according to the crosshair in the middle of the screen. It's not consistant from weapon to weapon or even with the same weapon. I don't know how it's calculated at the moment. If someone knows please feel free to say in the comments. You just aim slightly up into the air in the hope of hitting their head for a knock out. Or to the body to make them bleed. And many times even if you aim directly at a player you will get no hits at all. Sometimes a player will aim in the opposite direction and get hits in on you. As for movement, where you see a player in the game world visually may not be where he actually is. And the same goes for you. You might not be where you think you are. You'll see players skipping all over the place when they are moving rapidly. This is thread is not meant to complain but rather to gain some insight into why it is like this and if it ever will be fixed and how. Thanks.
  16. Hello Grimey Rimey :D How are you today? :p
  17. " Where your hits will land" " Has nothing to do with hit detection" Excuse me, what?
  18. Very well done everyone at bohemia, both of them! I see all these ignorant posts all over the forums and it makes me very sad for some of this community. While I myself am waiting patiently with realistic and healthy expectations from the game. I am very pleased with the results in this devblog and cant wait to help test it! Good job!

"Please wait" and then "Your dead"

I agree that ghosters should be combatted but I don't think that that a delay in which the logging player is powerless to do anything is the way to do it. ( I think I heard an idea similar to this in the rezzed video -->) Maybe they could check if there's someone in the area/building or if there is a base present when you log in so that you log in somewhere different, slightly further away where there are no other players in the immediate vicinity. Maybe in a shack somewhere so you're not completely visible standing on open terrain. In any case solving ghosting will be very difficult to do as there will almost certainly be a way for someone to exploit or be inconvenienced by any given system. I'm sure the devs will do their best though.

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

I dont think a ghillie suit would be very effective in this game at all. At long ranges grass does not render therefore you will stand out in the terrain no matter what kind of clothing you wear.

Faster way to get military geared up?

The military bases above kamenka then zelenogorsk and the radio tower above it give a lot of loot and are often untouched. If you are up for the risk there is yet another mil base south East of NWAF. My N1 loot route.
  22. It could work if they made it so that if an item is taken from where it originally spawned and put on the ground somewhere, it will have a timer until it de-spawns and something else can take it's original item spawn point.
  23. little note: I'm playing the experimental version of DayZ. I spawned on a hill inland somewhere west of berezino. When i turned around to my surprise I noticed I spawned in next to another fellow. I put my hand and greeted this man. He asked me if I was german. I said no and we talked to eachother in english. He seemed like an alright guy. He wasn't very talkative, but just enough to get by. We followed a road down to a small village. We shared loot and fought zombies together. I found some Mosin ammunition, but didn't tell my friend. Later on he found a mosin. I really wanted one but I did not want to ask for it because it might increase the tension and I don't know how he would react to that. He seemed pretty happy when he found it. What I did find, however, was a pair of handcuffs. If you think you know where this is going, you're right. When two strangers meet in DayZ there's a good chance there will come a time when the power balance shifts, tension rise and you cannot trust eachother. Especially without optimal communication, I wasn't willing to go all the way with this guy. But I wasn't going to murder him, that's no fun. I waited for the perfect opportunity to restrain my german friend. I lead him to a water fountain in hopes he would be distracted. I tried once to handcuff him, but i couldnt make it work. He didn't seem to notice however and we went a little further. We walked into a house and I told him we should eat. I ate some and soon he began eating too. I took the chance and handcuffed him as he was crouched down eating. " Really man?" he responded, dissapointed in me. I apologized politely and stated I was only after his mosin. After I took it I left a can of beans in his bags so that he could eat and left on my merry way. I followed a road for a little while until I could see a castle in the distance. I went up to the castle and investigated it. There was no one around me that I could see. I even scouted from atop the tower. I went down after I found a direction to go and hid in an evergreen so I could close some background applications on my computer since I was lagging quite badly. After doing so and having written the first part of this story to a friend of mine, I came back to DayZ after a few minutes only to find the screen, quite ironically, to say " You are Dead" That's dayZ for you! One could definately say I deserved it. Who killed me, though? A zombie? A random player? Maybe even the one I handcuffed earlier? No way to tell, sadly. I don't mind dying in DayZ after beeing bested or dying in a hefty firefight, but I don't like dying by things that I can't do anything about. Such as hackers, lag, or being AFK. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. But again, maybe I deserved it. Anyways, hope you enjoyed my little tale about banditry and karma.
  24. I personally love varied spawn locations. I would not mind spawning on the northernmost points of the map. Or the western parts. I love the idea of inland spawns!
  25. Heh. You're right. You take a risk every time you go AFK, and i certainly did. I just don't like it, is all. I'd rather have a fighting chance :) On an unrelated note, I went back into experimental just now and the most hilarious thing happened. I spawned in Berezino and it was very dark there. I looked around for loot but found none. I thought I'd check the school building and if i found nothing I would kill myself and call it a day. so I went ontop of the roof and jumped off while vaulting and to my surprise, landed perfectly safe on my feet. The funny thing is that right where I landed there stood two german guys there. One asked me where I was from and seemed like a friendly guy but his friendl immediately started to punch me. So I beat the guy down and kept beating him for a long time until he was dead. Eventually his friend got tired of just watching me beat him and came to punch me. So I beat him down too and stole all their loot. I got a neat new crossbow over it so I was pretty excited. Then after running around for a while I heard a man yelling in the distance. " ANOTHER SURVIVOR! AFTER ALL THIS TIME!" In a wheezy creepy voice with a foreign accent. He kept chasing me rambling on like a demented psycopath about how he was going to eat my flesh and a lot of other funny things. I tried to get rid of him and almost made it once. I kept closing gates and doors behind me but he found me again. Eventually it turned into a standoff on a road where we fought with our melee battles. The battle went on for a good minute and I went down. He said I would never be forgotten. He would always remember me. His roleplaying was quite funny. This game is amazing, haha. You get so many unique and quirky moments.
