The Picking Berries In Game Fiasco :)
Humansteak29 replied to keetpa2@aol.com's topic in General Discussion
I speak both french and english, and fail to see how anyone could get confused with berets and berries in any way. Berries=fruits des champs Beret=beret -
I used to have many random crashes, the cause was my video driver stopped responding for a split second (was mentionned only in eventlog) then the game went minimised and I couldn't bring it back. Now I play in a window and never notice when this happens, fixed it for me.

I don't want to hijack OP's great idea, so I'll be starting a thread about this now, share your thoughts! B) *Looks at above post* Or not, though coughing/sneezing is something that'd make you very detectable ^^

The mic should be always on as long as the game is running, this way teamspeak would reverb horribly in-game and would become a bad idea  Imagine you hear a bunch of bandits talking, then one says "Be right back, I'll go smoke one" the other says "Good idea I gotta go pee" then you know it's the time to strike, best way to simulate getting Rambo'd while being helpless (or even faking it while you think someone is stalking you)! Oh man the possibilities ^_^ ! Also, makes finding a pair of walkie talkies a great find!

Glad I checked out that topic, there ya go :beans: Also, what an awesome feature! Way better than side channel.

DAYZ Standalone VS. ARMA 2 MOD version
Humansteak29 replied to nickaepi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was having the same situation as you are but then I decided to wait for the standalone to be available to buy. So far the mod is more complete and even has some amazing mods for it (modception) but the standalone, even though it is very early access, is still very enjoyable. I find it really interesting to play this while having the thrill of seeing all the stuff being brought into the game, patch after patch and seeing it grow and take shape! It's like Xmas over and over again at random intervals ^_^ -
Magnum speedloaders are awesome, just hit R to reload it in a firefight. I don't attach them and reload manually unless I'm in an emergency and don't have time to reload otherwise.

Had one, didn't change the sound in any way so far but still very nice looking!

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Humansteak29 replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Nothing stops anyone from playing the way he wants to, therefore it is not removing anything. It is even adding a lot IMO. Especially after seeing those sick posts about gaining a hero skin only to backstab poor unsuspecting trusting fools later, out of mere boredom. We gotta admit that at least, while the guy who "pretends" to be a hero is farming his humanity in preparation for the ultimate bandit art, he is NOT KoSing, has an objective, and that's a an exemple of player interaction right there, instead of simple pure infinite KoS! Well in a way! I'm typing this just to point out that while this method has it's flaws, it kinda works in some ways, by adding something considerable to player interaction without being 100% reliable. The effect should be taken lightly, it prevents dying for not having a single clue, it only provides one so we are not completely clueless. The first one with hostile intents has a huge advantage and a random spark of insanity can kill you, with or without armbrand. Should this get implemented, temporary or not, I think it would create some more variety in player interaction, a good drop in KoS, at the cost of a potential increase in trolling (which is not a bad thing, even being trolled is funnier than yet another KoS death) Here are some examples of things to think about, that this system or something similar would add to the game! Bandit: This guy has killed people, nothing proves he was KoSing... yet (that poor guy might have been trolled big time!). But I should be extra careful and watch his movements carefuly. Dumb move: HE BUNDIT! KIL IM!! (I watched all of FrankieOnPC's awesome videos, he always plays as nice and smart as possible yet sometimes manage to get a bandit skin) Survivor: He's either dodging players, just going somewhere specific or a fresh spawn, depending of his gear. He might have killed very few or no players. Just in case, I don't want to be his first victim so I'll stay cautious. Hero: if I'm not bleeding or need treatment of any kind, a hero armbrand doesn't mean I'll just allow any stranger near me. Oh you want to give me food? You don't have to breathe in my neck to drop it, thanks anyway dude, I can make a few steps to pick up your gifts. Dumb move: Sweet a hero! gimme a hug! *thump* You are dead. Anyway I think it's time to end this post, before I get TL;DR'd. I want to specify that since I posted this while reading page 1 to 3, this post might be utterly useless or mentionned already. I don't mind whether this system or something similar will ever be in DayZ SA but I think it'd be nice B) -
Double beans for that sig, loved each and every words, I couldn't agree more!

The main reasons why I don't like KoS, is because: 1. It is highly contagious, especially for the younger fellas. I actually seen many friendlies get KoS'd, and immediately arise as one of them! This is the real zombie virus in DayZ. 2. I really love reading nice stories (keep posting them, I've got :beans: ^_^ ) KoS players have no stories to tell other than "Saw a player, killed him, had nice/no loot" and "Saw a player, he killed me, he's a fuc***g noob piece of s*** tard f***" (I'll never understand that logic) 3. I know anyone can do MUCH better than just acting like any random NPC. Player interaction is gold in this game and I think it sucks to see 90% of possibilities being limited to the most basic possible. KoSers are basically zombies with guns and stuff wasting all their potential. Being scared of dying is no reason to kill and will never be, but that is nothing but my humble opinion. I'm not complaining, KoSers are what makes that dreadful surge palpable when you see a player, and wonder what will happen next. I guess someone (not everyone though) has to do what the zombies seems to be unable to do.

non-night vision alternative (light up the town)
Humansteak29 replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
Good idea, adds something to do and player interaction, this could create so many DayZ-esque situations we all love  though I'd like it to be feasible with at least 3-4 players for cities and 2 for remote houses to encourage teamwork. Also, once the nights are more dangerous, and forests are populated with zombies, hanging out in cities or power up a small house in the middle of nowhere would make night time very interesting! Also, free beans. -
Great suggestions! I'd love to see all that in-game

Because it operates in a (relatively) complex and unique way, and is a really sexy looking thing, it should be a fine addition to the world of DayZ in my opinion. Nice find!
