V3S tank is 120L (fuel gauge is labeled). PET = 1L (120 times) Jerry Can = 25L (~5 times) Tried PET filling before, it's so so so painfully slow, you're better off running wherever you're going.

DayZ isn't increasing the temp of your CPU, it's putting your CPU under heavy load. The increasing temp is merely a symptom or result of increased load. As the game isn't fully optimized yet, and you're running on a 2nd Gen i5, this isn't totally surprising. BF4 is a final build which is optimized for a broad range of hardware, which is most likely why you don't see the same results there.

Yes, I've rammed a tipped over truck with another good truck to get it back on its wheels. So it's possible! I aimed for the roof of the cabin, and was probably going about 20KM/h when I hit.

That does sound like an extreme camp that could have been duping, but more likely it was just a well organized group of several people collecting gear. Back on .56 with CLE (so good loot was rare) just myself and one friend were able to round up 2 military tents, 2 regular tents, and all kinds of weapons and ammo. We had farming plots and were growing crops, had many liters of water stored as well, and had a full stone oven. We had a truck parked not too far away too. We played on the one server during this time and were not hopping around. The V3S, especially now with cargo capacity, makes this kind of looting possible, and personally I think it's great.

Every time you start a new character, you start with nothing of value. It can take hours to get a lot of the gear you want/need. Then you run into a town where someone is lying down next to a window in a two story house in 3rd person, waiting, watching for movement. "You are dead." This is the play style that led to outcry for a new camera. The person running into town above could look over walls too, but this was in no way a balanced encounter.

I loved when .55 dropped with the persistent central economy, it was actually difficult to survive. There I was, fully geared (IMO) with AUG, TTSKO, Hunting Bag, Full Plate Carrier etc, and I was stuffing my face with berries hoping I wouldn't die of starvation, all because we couldn't find a cooking pot to cook our steaks. Finding a bag of rice or can of beans was like Christmas! My friend and I setup a camp with multiple tents, a stone oven, farming plots, we had a V3S stashed nearby, and all of this was valuable because being able to store food and water was important... and then they took it all away by disabling that loot system. Haven't really played since, waiting for centralized persistent loot to return.

I also noticed this with the bear trap.

I KOS everyone I see. I used to try talking to people, but I've grown callous after being betrayed far too many times. It's just not worth the risk when I have bullets and the opportunity to put them into somebody's body before they see me. Hopefully as more systems fall into place, other players will become a resource you'll want to group up with, rather than bullet sponges.

Server performance has been a constant task, is this your first status report? Melee shouldn't be worked on until the new player controller is implemented. Diseases are coming, and water contamination will certainly be a component of this. (water purification tablets anyone?) Renderer is coming, for all we know they're keeping quite to surprise us, they've done it before (look at the Holiday update) Chris is the art lead, his team creates item art, creating items for cars doesn't hinder the work other teams are doing on actual vehicle systems...

Experimental Branch: 0.54 Discussion
wingman.edu replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
This might also have to do with what/how many objects are in the area. I recall a dev talking about the new renderer and how the current one renders objects even when they aren't in view. So even though you're on the same part of the map there could be a lot more objects that are in the area and being rendered on the lower FPS server. (just a guess) -
I'm guessing it needs more tweaking... I've had the same issue of being stuffed and hungry or thirsty, pretty difficult early on to get hydrated and energized without over stuffing yourself.

And all those titles are AAA with big budgets and dev teams. DayZ spent its first year with a very small team working on it. So what's your point?

unbelievable situation, searching 3hours for matchbox!
wingman.edu replied to HeicPy's topic in General Discussion
Players are not being fucked over, or intentionally put into unsurvivable scenarios. The game doesn't know that it's spawning you in the rain near no matches or food. The game is not out to get you. If everything you need to survive was given to you on a silver platter, what's the point? The environment is supposed to be a challenge, and this is part of that. Again, loot is in no way final, so I really think this is a pointless discussion. -
unbelievable situation, searching 3hours for matchbox!
wingman.edu replied to HeicPy's topic in General Discussion
There is a logical reason for you dying to the elements. You couldn't find matches, and therefore couldn't build a fire to stay warm/dry. It is believable that a person may not be able to find matches in an post-apocalypse environment. I personally would not be able to build a fire in the rain without a lighter/matches, I don't think it's that crazy. And it doesn't matter if you die early, you just start again, hopefully near some matches. Also, please remember this game is still under development. Loot is not final yet. No need to cry because your character in an Alpha version of a survival game died to the elements. You will die in DayZ. If you can't handle it, maybe it's not the game for you. -
Tired running around for trucks >=[
wingman.edu replied to MatchboxChick's topic in General Discussion
Trucks are easy to find currently on west part of map. Friend and I keep jerry cans in our "hands" glitch, when we login we find a truck pretty quick usually, then fuel her up and tear across the map hitting 90% of heli spawns in under an hour. Usually find 1-2 helis. They make the map so small compared to running. And actually did a full lap recently which only took about 15-20 minutes, from Pustoshka to Kamenka, all way way around East -> North -> back West on the Great Main Road, and then back down to Pustoshka via Lopatino and Vybor. Drove right through all the big cities along the way. There were about 15 people on the server, and we were looking for trouble, but didn't see one single person. It's very possible people hear the truck coming and just hide in a building and watch it zip by. It is rather intimidating, especially if you're without bullets. -

Private Servers and First/Third Person modes
wingman.edu replied to terra_young@hotmail.com's topic in General Discussion
Even on a private hive? I thought for public 1st and 3rd were separate hives, which would make me think that a private hive wouldn't change when switching between 1st/3rd modes. -
Krasnoe and Kamensk are great additions.

Yea already there, along with a new military base near Kamensk. http://www.izurvive.com/chernarusplussatmap.html#c=82;-37;5 -
Can opener--handy tool or cruel taunt?

Stone knife is the first thing I make when I spawn on the coast. Indispensable for early game. -
Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
wingman.edu replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
Just jog instead of sprinting. You get it over with and adapt for yourself without penalizing everyone else. Problem solved. I think there is still a good balance of fun and realism. Weather and temperature are good steps towards forcing survival decisions, and I think sore feet could be a good way to limit long range sprinting depending on shoe type/condition, rather than a stamina bar or encumbrance. It's too early to be calling for speed reduction currently, we still have a year before Beta even comes around, slow your roll. -
Once Vehicles become persistent.. a discussion
wingman.edu replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
I like the idea of non-persistent bikes, but I think they should be persistent like all other loot in the game. They should "degrade" over time before being removed from the world so a new one can spawn. The bike quota should be relatively high, so you should be able to find one easier than the current V3S implementation. They could still use some work sometimes, maybe grease, a new chain, or air for tires. Nothing that should take too long to get going. It would be pretty frustrating to be riding between towns during a server reset, and log back in on foot without the bike anywhere in sight. -
SMERSH Vest, Grenades

As shitty as it is sometimes, it's working as intended. The V3S makes the map small once you get one and fuel it up. I was on a server last night with only 4 players, one of which was my friend who I was with. We found a V3S in Zelenogorsk and traveled along the main road to the north and all the way around to the north east, and down the coast to Balota and then up to the military base north of Kamenka. We parked at the end of the driveway and walked into the base. In the military base we found the other 2 players in the game (they were together) and killed them both. It was the best V3S trip we've had so far, as we had it for hours without a server reset. Once they add basic vehicles such as bicycles and they are persistent, getting around will be easier early in the game. We're still a year away from Beta, there is much to come, hopefully fast travel isn't on the list.

Thank you. Thank you for being transparent and communicating with the community. I picked up this game last December when it first launched on Steam. The game has progressed immensely in that time, and all the while you've done a very good job of listening to and communicating with the community. I've spent the last few months growing more and more frustrated with Bungie and their complete lack of transparency with Destiny. Bungie's big year end community news update was a bunch of fluff about how well they've done this year with their launch, which was not what I or a large part of that community was waiting to hear. We want to know about what's happening, how are they tackling the issues that have come up since The Dark Below DLC, and where is Destiny going. The DayZ team is different. The year end update came along with a patch. Not just any patch, but an awesome one, with way more new content and anticipated features (I'm looking at you centralized loot!) than what was expected. Bohemia continues to deliver, and I couldn't be more excited about the future of DayZ. Looking forward to an amazing 2015. Keep up the great work!

I never said they're better than all other game developers, although big publishers have really been dropping the ball lately in the name of shareholder interests. I just said their community interaction is far superior than that of Bungie. I've been following the DayZ weekly updates and patch notes while I've been playing Destiny, and these weekly posts have kept me informed even while I wasn't playing. The progress over the last 12 months in DayZ has been really great, and I'm excited about what we'll see in the next 12 months, something I can't currently say about Destiny. And this game is still only in Alpha. Best $ I've ever spent on a video game, 247 hours and counting. :)
