Why is der a F****** hide body function!?!?!
Franchi (DayZ) replied to Fre4krider's topic in General Discussion
I agree, you should have to drag the bodies and hide them in a bush, or spend 10 minutes digging a shallow grave to permanently hide it. -

Need Medical Assistance in DayZ SA ? Find Your medic here!
Franchi (DayZ) replied to TMWMarijke's topic in General Discussion
This thread is about medical assistance, broken legs, unconscious, poisoned etc. This is what you are looking for, http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/30-new-player-discussion/ -
Given the availability of canteens rice and ammo I cannot imagine anyone bothering to dupe them, real signs of duping are groups of 5-10 guys all running round with the exact same gear, weapons and attachments. Yes duping is still possible.

Personal feelings of military weapons (and future weapons) in this game
Franchi (DayZ) replied to Demoth's topic in General Discussion
You guys seem to think these skills are rare, they are not. Just becasue you watch MTV instead of watching the history channel or opening a book doesn't mean everyone else does as well. Someone had to operate those lathes before the virus, muskets are simple devices the most basic requires only a bore and a touch hole in a piece of steel strapped to a wooden stock. These are NOT extremely specialized skills.. Specialist skills would be what I have, the ability to MAKE a modern firearm from the correct kind of raw steel. -

Franchi (DayZ) replied to Demoth's topic in General Discussion
I can point you to three buildings in the SA that feature lathes about the size of mine. A serviceable smooth-bore black powder firearm could easily be made with those, with very little skill, even without electricity. As I said you do not need sulfur, it is used to lower the flashpoint, it does contribute a bit to the explosive force but is not a necessary ingredient, I explained how to get the other ingredients from readily available sources in any location. Why is there this accepted idea that everyone with skills died? -

the hardest part of a percussion cap is also the hardest part of a primer, the stable pressure sensitive explosive, if you have the skills to make one you can probably make the other, just a matter of shape. Forming brass while not impossible for someone with the know how in a small shop, is simply not viable, a lot of machining would have to be done just to make the proper presses for the brass. There is also the problem of heating and annealing the brass after every step. Given that brass can be re used a number of times, rifle brass at least 4-5 times, pistol brass at least 10-12, with some cartridges doing significantly better, and lower pressure loads extending the life of the brass, it would probably be unnecessary to do it . Please remember that the manufacture of explosives is tightly regulated in most places, DON'T DO IT. Also remember that the manufacture of explosives is dangerous DON'T DO IT. In my locality manufacturing black powder for personal sporting or recreational use is not regulated. As to a recipe for black powder http://www.musketeer.ch/blackpowder/recipe.html I have hard copies of many books on the subject of black powder and firearms in general, as well as books on the subject of other explosives such as pressure sensitive explosives and smokeless powder I am not going to tell you how to make a pressure sensitive explosive, it's dangerous and illegal in many places and I don't want some idiot blowing himself up on my conscious. While manufacturing smokeless powder is less dangerous it is still capable of killing or maiming you and may be illegal depending on where you live, given your obvious lack of intellect giving you even that would worry me. Keep in mind that just about any explosive with the proper properties can stand in for the more common forms of gun powder. Now I know what you are thinking, how on earth would you find what you need after an apocalypse? Well potassium nitrate AKA saltpeter can be found in the ground under decomposing bodies (can't imagine where I would find those) or in decomposing manure and urine, and can be strained and refined with everyday household means. Humans have been getting it for a long time, the oldest recorded process for complete purification was written in 1270. I would hope that even you can figure out charcoal on your own. Combine the two in the correct proportions and you have black powder, no you don't actually need sulfur. The sulfur lowers the flashpoint and creates the massive cloud of smoke, great if you are stuck with a flint lock, not so great if you have a percussion ignition system. I have an engine lathe, 16x48, and a universal (horizontal and vertical) mill with a 5' bed along with a generator that can power both. You joke, but there are plenty of people out there with all they need to make whatever they need. -
Oh I agree a M14 wouldn't make a lot of sense, but why bother including the Mini 14, it won't add anything to the game doesn't make any more sense than a m14 and all it is is a less accurate less easily upgraded competitor to the M4. Why not add a FAL instead?

Actually I was correct, as Coffee acknowledged before the end. No hard feelings on my end about it, just a misunderstanding. The influence of 5 inches of barrel on ballistic performance has very little real world effect. Unless the B95 is using 7.63x51 instead of 7.62x54r (currently they both use the same in game) even then they should do the same amount of damage the difference between the rounds is rather negligible, amounting to around 200 FT-LBf. Realistically the B95 would be more likely to use the 7.62x54r anyway as it is a rimmed cartridge and break action guns do better with rimmed cartridges. You mean the M14 I hope, the mini 14 would be a downgrade from an M4.

Holy hell that is close, guess this settles where Chernarus is, The Czech Republic.

You may well have and not even realized it, I accidentally duped some sticks last night and have no idea how it happened, I ended up tossing both sticks anyway.

Nah the inclusion of said mask would provide perfect justification for KOS.

Back before the log out timer I would pump a few rounds into a wall or the ground when I heard loading in noises at a popular server hopping spot to get the hopper to log to preserve all that hard earned gear, worked 99% of the time. But warning shots? Most player will assume you tried to kill them and are a terrible shot, this will encourage them to hunt and kill you. Its a bad idea.

My average with glitch deaths included is probably somewhere around 15-20 hours of play time, I don't really keep track Without glitch deaths I'm probably sitting close to 50-70 hours. My secrets, Always evaluate the risks and rewards, Don't play on full servers, the majority of people there want to kill other players, if your favorite server is over 30 find somewhere else to play. Stay in the woods unless you NEED something. Airfields are DEATH TRAPS, only go at night or in force. WATCH EVERYTHING, YES THERE IS A SNIPER IN THAT BUSH! Don't fire your weapon unless absolutely necessary (or testing). Don't approach other players without observing for a LONG TIME, don't approach players if ANYTHING seems off. Zombies are your friends, sure they want to eat your brains but at least they are honest about it unlike the living, they can be useful as alarms and camouflage agasint the living. Do not prosecute every threat, I got shot in BZ not to long ago, heard the shot, knew the building it came from and had a decked out M4 of my own. I disengages anyway becasue the chances of me getting a clean shot at him/her were low. He/she had a good position and a beed on me, If I did manage to shoot him/her I would have had to climb the tallest ladder in BZ to check the body. The aforementioned situation offered little reward for FAR to much risk, yet the majority of players would go for it anyway. That is why the average lifespan of a dayz character is so low.

It has far fewer spawn nodes for a potential 45 magazine, there are roughly 4 spots in each cell building that have a chance to spawn them, 2 chances in each hangar, and another chance or two in the ATC, NE has two cell buildings one ATC and two hangers. Compare that to NWAF, 4 cell buildings 8 hangars, 2 barracks a fire station and those two improvised watch towers. In short if you want military gear go to NWAF, NE isn't worth the walk. Oh one other thing if you need a 45 mag, ditch all your 45 ammo, drop your FNX and then look for one, nearly guaranteed to get one the next spot you check. If you are having a really bad day check one of the construction sight, they can spawn there, most commonly on the top floor along the wall, near the broken piece of concrete on the bottom floor and near the workbench in the center on the bottom floor.

So excited for remmington shotgun
Franchi (DayZ) replied to flyingsauce's topic in General Discussion
So you think it unlikely that a civilian hunting rifle made in Germany would be exported to Russia and former soviet states? Hell Germany shares a border with the Czech Republic where Bohemia is based. The Czech military along with other former soviet states ISSUES M4 rifles to their military and/or police. The US is the worlds number one arms dealer. M4's are used and have spilled blood on every continent. -

Franchi (DayZ) replied to flyingsauce's topic in General Discussion
There are only two western guns in the game right now, the FNX 45 and the Colt Python. The M4 is used by and made in countries around the world its even used in some former soviet states. The B95 is German, the double barrel shotgun is made by Baikal in Russia. I am sick and tired of reading posts from players who assume that everything but the Mosin and SKS are western guns. Do some research. "The MOSIN is a western gun we can't have the Mosin its bad for muh immersion. They were once made in the US and the US military used them in combat." That is what you sound like to me. -

Franchi (DayZ) replied to flyingsauce's topic in General Discussion
Norinco (china) makes an 870 clone, Charles daily sells a Turkish made pump action similar to the 870, Baikal (Russia) makes a pump action shotgun that amounts to a clone of the 870, tho its most recent model has some interesting features such as an optional box magazine. On the subject of "western guns" Cry me a river then build a bridge and GET OVER IT. -

"If I can pontificate a bit, for your edification. One of the rules of the Internet is: "there are no girls on the Internet." This rule does not mean what you think it means. In real life, people like you merely for being a girl. They want to kiss you, so they pay attention to you and they pretend what you have to say is interesting, whether or not you are genuinely interesting, or that you are smart of clever, whether or not you are actually smart or clever. On the Internet, there is no chance to kiss you; this means the advantage of being a "girl" does not exist. You don't get a bonus to conversation just because someone wants to put their tongue in your mouth. When you make a post like "hurr durr, I'm a gurl," you are begging for attention. The only reason to post it is because you want your girl-advantage back, because you are too vapid or too stupid to do or say anything interesting without it. You are forgetting the rule "there are no girls on the Internet." The one way around this rule, the one way you can get your "girlness" back on the Internet, is to post your chest. This is, and should be, degrading for you, an admission that the only interesting thing about you is your body." Modified to be sightly less offensive. If a girl is fun to play with I will play with her, but this obsession with finding girls on the internet to play with is something I will never understand. -
Why are you against many military items in game?
Franchi (DayZ) replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
No I don't think they would have moved them, I would expect that after getting bit more than a few soldiers would have made their way into hospitals/barracks/houses etc treated their wounds and succumbed to the infection there. I doubt they would have left the weapons where they got bit either. It is perfectly logical to expect you would find their weapons, not all soldiers carry their weapons on a 3 point harness I would also expect that while receiving medical assistance or while treating themselves many of the bitten would have removed their 3 point harnesses. Here lets do a little test You are sick/injured in a hostile environment do you.. A ) drop your weapon and run around like a chicken with its head cut off B )Take your weapon and find a building to hold up in C )Take your weapon and run into the woods D ) drop your weapon and find somewhere to hold up I think we can assume most would choose B, meaning we have a decent chance to find the weapons in buildings. Also I would expect that as units were overran and pushed back they would attempt to fortify buildings and hold them, only to be killed/infected by members of the unit who were infected and/or to kill those infected unit members. When falling back and fortifying these positions I would expect them to gather what weapons and ammunition they could find. Meaning we have yet another scenario that makes buildings like the ATC barracks and fire station, especially the roofs of these buildings potential gold mines. Why is it that I think you look exactly like your avatar..... If you want to bring in the morons of the population who don't know how to maintain their weapons you also have to bring in the people like me, the people who could MAKE a SMG with some readily available materials and basic hand tools, So do you want to go there? -
These M4 kids need to be dealt with.
Franchi (DayZ) replied to SxeDave's topic in General Discussion
Please stop. The m4 is not a loud gun, the M16 is less of a loud gun. You want a loud gun? Try a 30-06 stalking rifle with a 16.5" barrel. Where do you kids get this stuff? -
