Laptop. 15.6 inch 16.9 HD LED LCD Intel Core i5-2430M Intel HD Graphics 3000 4 GB DDR3 Memory Planning on getting a new build but I would like to know if I could start playing sooner, even on the lowest and shittiest of settings.

Dunno why people are arguing about the validity of KOS. Think about this though: the people behind DayZ are trying to make a realisitc Zombie Apocalypse simulation. In real life, where you only live once, are you going to take the chance of later being shot in the back of the head by a guy you spared because you wanted him to have a chance? Obviously, bandits dont ruin the game, and in my opinion, KOS doesnt either, but due to the easy frustration both things can cause, its easy to just give up rather than re strategize and go again. Again, the game was made to be realistic in the first place, but because its a game and you respawn and usually in an obvious location (coast), it can be frustrating. My idea about thi is to just switch servers if theres spawn killers and dont be too bitchy about it. (Dont mean to offend... that much... but thats what it seems like a lot of people are doing.)

I would also like it if you guys could share your own build specs, and your average performance from that build.

I do actually have one more question. Should the CPU be an i5? Or an i7? I've read that getting an i7 is a waste of money and wont make a difference from an i5, but because you know what youre doing, I may as well use the available resources.

So first of all, thanks to all of you computer experts out there who know your stuff and take the time to help me out. Im guessing youre gonna want all the info and specs I can give you so here goes: I want a build that can run games like DayZ (standalone and mod), Arma 3, and BF4 without lag on the highest of settings. I would hope that my current 10 megs ethernet setup would be enough connection-wise, but thats why I'm here asking you. I would like for peripherals to be included in this setup, but given my budget ($1200), I'm willing to sacrifice a little in the keyboard, mouse, or headset department. In the build suggested, I would also like a suggested audio card for better audio performance, but again, given my budget I may have to skip it. Monitor size should be a minimum eighteen inches, maximum 28. Should you have a stock computer suggestion, put that in your post as well, along with the peripherals. Another side note, I will likely run a few different programs at once, but will not do any recording. Also, if you have videos on how your individual setup is put together, I would very much appreciate them. Again thanks, and to all those who help me with this issue (which has lasted long enough, a little over a year), should we ever meet in-game, you've got another soldier in your squad.
