The Best Time I've Ever Had While Playing DayZ - Worth A Read.

"Cheeky wee wank", "agroing mythbusters" hahahahaha Thanks for the laugh, man. Cool stary, sobroh. -
A thousand bean cans to you, bro. Seriously, I'm in awe here. Beautifully reasoned, explained post.I agree on every point except the "one character per server" thing. If your server is shut down for whatever reason or gets a corrupted database, you lose everything, which in the state of game you (and I) bid for, is too much a loss. What I loved most is the events thing. Soldier raids, seasons and the like. Amazing stuff. True PvE.

So, let's say: - Server drops/kicks you/crashes/whatever (they are SO stable right?): Everybody who has engaged in combat in the last 5 minutes is dead and looses everything. - An admin shoots at you and and then immediately kicks you because you killed him or some of his friends: You are dead and all your loot belongs to them now. - You engage in combat with somebody. You take some damage but eventually you win. Someone rings at your door or whatever. You wait A WHOLE FIVE MINUTES to go open the door/grab the phone/take a sh*t/leave for work (or you die)? BRILLIANT! Because I would love to lose my ages-old survivor character to some random combat rule! So realistic! A 60 seconds timer sounds more appropriate. And you don't die. At most, you get your legs broken. That alone is a good deterrant for most people. Disconnecters would think twice before hitting ALT+F4 because, you know, you don't get morphine everywhere. And carrying more than a couple shots eats up your inventory space. Or a login cooldown. If you ALT-F4 in the 60 seconds after taking damage from a player, you can't login for 10 minutes or whatever.

Same here, when it seems like it's going to work, I get asked for a username and password. Doesn't bother me as long as servers support the last beta.

The reason why it's "shoot on sight"
diskun replied to SillySil's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A few stories in this thread are familiar to me. In my case I logged-in near the fire station north of Cherno, and the first thing I see is this guy followed by four zeds, bleeding the hell out of himself. So I think what I would like people to do in that situation: help the poor fool get rid of those zeds. And I did. Patched the guy up, he gave me some blood. All fresh and good to go each our own way. So apparently the guy goes into the fire station and finds a submachinegun as I'm walking towards the church. Next thing he does is checking the gun works using me as a human target. Lead bukkake for me, full auto right on my head. "What the f-OK, is that the way you say THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME? Wait a mine just right there". 1. Respawn at Prigorodki 2. Get Remington at barnyard 3. Run like a boss to the fire station where this a*hole was still camping at. 4. ??? 5. PROFIT The reason people shoot at sight is because they are assholes. And of course because there are no real consequences for serial killing. Or namely any advantage to letting armed strangers leave unharmed, because chances are that as soon as you turn your head, you'll have it pierced and/or blown. Someone back there mentioned having player classes. That sounds good to me, and realistic too. Survivors after a end-of-world class event would still be skilled individuals: doctors, firefighters, military staff, but also mechanical engineers, and maybe even construction workers. Each class would have their own advantages and unique skills, such as trap construction for engineers, self-surgery for doctors, superior athletics for firefighters, construction workers would build structures, and so on. Maybe then people would care more about "what can we do for each other" and less for the loot and the impending menace of having someone else alive around themselves. One day... -

- When your entire shopping basket is comprised of soda, beans and mac n' cheese. - When you hear a loud bang and the first thing you ask is WHO IS SHOOTING IN CHERNO!? - When you are late for work and you make a run for it... crouched. -
I think this is brilliant for team-playing, it would make "player camps" actually feasible and encourage co-op behaviour whilst at the same time would introduce new game mechanics (namely bandits raiding survivor camps or vice-versa).
-
This is actually not entirely true. I am an experienced player and since the last update I have seen how zeds DO spawn too close to the ocean to the point of aggroing the players even before they start moving.

Life/Death Calculator = intrinsic value/culture

I think this in an amazing idea that I would love to see implemented, however as pointed out by Mikyjax it would be needed to bind the players to a server, which anyway would come attached to the concept: survivors would feel encouraged to stay in a place where loot is high and thus community would build up slowly. However, this brings up another issue with this mod: server inestability and population threshold. I, as a co-op survivor, would be severely pissed off if my camp was wiped during a sudden server restart or couldn't re-join my friends because the server is full. Anyway, this is a well reasoned feature request, and I would LOVE to see this in DayZ. Cheers op, and sorry for my English (not my first language). -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

YES I love the feeling of overcoming adversity. Sneaking around, running for your life, and also the CoD gameplay would end.
