  1. Underground (limited, for storage holes, fox holes and trenches) and fortifications are a good idea. But I hope they never go full building. Not if your aiming for realism. Simply collecting materials and placing a construction after a simply animation will totally go against everything currently in dayz. E.g. (for fortifications) If you need large chip boards do the following: Either find or steal or -Chop down tree -Take wood to factory (mill) -Then Use fuel to power generator for mill -Use mill to make chip board -Carry one board at a time (of use car / van) to transport

    The Cult (Role Play)

Once geared up. Head to the coast: Ask everyone you meet if they want to join, If they say No: They Die! If they Run, They die! If they don't answer, they Die! If they say Yes, they must be the executer for next person who says No. The executioner must only wear a bag on his head, and carry an axe :) The highest number of cult following has been 5 people. Were trying to beat that number tomorrow. Add me on steam if you want to join us. (Will upload some stuff for it next week) brok21k
  3. It's a game the end of the day. That requires around 3-4hrs to gear up (per death) and get to a competitive state. Which simulates a sense of loss that not many games do. It's also an open sandbox, that allows any valid playing style. There is a lot of people who come from a RPG angle and enjoy the search for friendly survivors, and try to ignore the bandits. Different strokes for different folks. Who are we to judge? I enjoy the PvP stuff, so my game play has evolved: from survivor > to bandit > then somekind of hero / fair bandit. Obviously everyone takes slightly different paths and end points. But your experiences do change and educate you. I for one like to try out ALL the different styles. In order to learn and adapt.

Moving the goal posts again, to sit in line with another desperate grasp for superiority. It's amazing how much you can exposure the inner working of ones thought process, through a few forum posts.

    Bandits

Plus it creates the Mad Max like, wasteland apocalypse. The only pleasure is wearing someone's ears on a necklace... I want it hardcore, makes survival more of an accomplishment and earned!

    why good samiritans irritate me

Maybe I'm different. Yes, I rage but you have get used to accepting loss in this game. Plus I tend to spot everyone else first (paranoia is great attribute in dayz). Only once or twice have I been spotted (as a Bambi), but either fight my way out or run (depending on the options). As a new spawner I care very little about dying. So fun can be had, and you have options. Sometimes I test my luck and go for the kill, often ends badly. There are so many different outcomes to be had from the many different styles and scenarios, all types of interactions are just and valid. No matter what they do. There may be a few rants on the forums but its usually from a harsh learning curve and someone venting (which could be the case of the OP) Plus, the devs may go back to true random spawning making this all obsolete. Costal exploring can be fun: There's a few of us that gear up, and move between SWAP along the coast of the south east, then up to NEAP. We play the role of a crazy cult, pretending that zombies were put on this earth to cleanse it of evil. We ask if people are believers, and if not they die. But If they are believers and join us, we make them kill the non believers. Once we've got about 5-6 of them, we take them to hot PvP spots. That's when the fun starts.

    Zombie Speed

I know the army zombie speed has been increased. But does he out run players. I understand your trying to find the max limitations / balance of the server, in-order to get max number of zombies. But i would be nice (in the next experimental), to make you have to use weapons (guns) instead of just running. I understand more the merrier, but to actually fear a small group of zombies before that point would be a great feature test.

    Battlelog sound / notifcation

Maybe introduce some kind of log off sound / or text if someone exits. It'll will only notify you if your a short distance away, but allows you to Finnish them off (30 sec log out delay). Or relocate, so you don't get ghosted. The new log feature, will still allow for the occasional log / ghost.

    Battlelog sound / notifcation

But, If you don't see them they could ghost around you and kill you from a better pos?

    Zombie Speed

Really! But you don't even have to sprint away. You can jog and dodge in and out to keep them at bay. It'll be nice that they were more dangerous than players. So having to sneak past them, should be a must. Engagement should be defensive. Currently you can clear a town, without killing them.

    why good samiritans irritate me

And my argument is that they play part of the ecosystem of the game. (smairitains, whether their stupid or smart) It's like a dog hating a mouse, for not being a cat! Look you don't see them every time (i see them rarely, my plan is drink then go inland to food, backpack, axe, gun) When you do, maybe try and kill them or be killed. or take food and move on It provide variety to the game. My point is anything goes.. The good the bad and the ugly...

    why good samiritans irritate me

Just because he said "heading to the coast to help bambis' your primary aim is just weird" and hes presumes people only help to force some kind of guilt friendship, doesn't justify anything. A) its a sand box, and anything goes (apart from hacking and glitches) B) He presumes that everyone who seeks out Bambi's is some kind of tree hugging hippy. -If they are, nothing wrong with that. Dayz natural selection will educate them. (or they could stay strong to their values and keep trying) The end of the day, its a food chain! All these styles feeds off one other, this is what makes the game pure and entertaining.

    why good samiritans irritate me

Your posts don't elaborate any further to your "why good samiritans irritate me" title! The only thing they do add is that you can't understand why people get pleasure from helping others. You seem to pick holes in every replied post, and have a desire to prove everyone else is wrong and you're some kind far to superior being. And any criticism of you, then makes you produce a "Everyone is wrong..No one understands me post!". So, Confrontational, Narassic and isolated! Most defiantly a DayZ player ;)

    why good samiritans irritate me

So why label them as good Samaritans, they might want to recruit? Why does it even bother you? Your happy to dish it out and presume how other people play, but cry when they do it about you? It sounds like you have issues, but to presume anything about YOU seems to upset you. Feels like a room, with mirrors on all four walls. Help!

    No Combat Log In Radius

Problem is this adds more load to the server and client. The current 30 sec log out timer being tested is a far lower cost and impact solution. I would rather test that feature and fine turn the timer (maybe set it to 100 sec). Alot of people complain zombies may get you etc. But if you move out of town and find a quiet spot, seems a more realistic approach. I currently do that atm, so I don't spawn into a bunch of zombies or players.
  18. Wow Hermit Role Playing! Your winter nights must just fly by!
  19. I love this current open alpha state. Where new features are implemented. And the game is finding its own way. But only small companies can get away with this, my fear is that this game gets too popular too early. A big sponsor or company takes over and it then becomes a pure business model and that it's all about profit. Currently it's like an artists painting, slowly drawn layers of a persons dream. Most people thought these types of games were dead because of these financial pressures. The end of the day, the team are human and can't but help listen to all the feed back. Whether that's constructive or not. I just hope they stay truthful to the original idea.
  20. I totally agree sir! We're getting too many noob post complaining about how hard the game is. Most of us want it harder! Shame we can't vote delete thread, so the forums don't get cluttered with noobs crying.

[Guide] Surviving as a Lone Wolf

Nice post. But you can pick all them skills up after 10 hrs of game inland. Moving through busy areas, while trying to survive teachers you so much more. Just playing that PvE style is too forgiving (currently). Nothing like, moving round main loot spots and trying to hold up player (if needs be). As in life, you learn far more when rolling with the punches.
  22. I understand it's a selfish idea. But I hope it leaves the lime light, and allows for small but steady growth. It just sounds like the team are under too much pressure. It can't be sustainable for long periods. I hope it stays small until the true survival aspects are implemented.
  23. 1) Rocket leaves due to stress and the project looses it's way. 2) They give in to the average joe (for future xbox and ps4 options) and writes yet and other Zombie shooter. I hope it stays very hard, and sales drop. It needs loyal, hardcore followers. It can't be a one size fits all game! Community driven games on main stream games gets messy. We're already getting too many posts from bad players who want it easier. We need to ignore and follow Rockets dream! It's his baby!!!!

DayZ Alpha - How is it possible?

It'll most prob take 6months for a new guy to come on board and be productive, the skill is currently there. But each new set of features need to be tested per sprint. We are technically the testers. As we provide feedback, new adjustments are made then new testing begins. No matter how many devs or designers you have it takes time.

DayZ Alpha - How is it possible?

You should have to sign some kind of legal contract saying "Before I pay a small amount of money to help test an alpha of a game, I agree that it's simply the early framework. And should provide construct feed back to help improve the game. Instead of constantly whinging, is it ready yet!" It's a massive, complicated engine that wasn't designed for most of these features. Go play something else if you don't like it.
