What do you consider "optimized" performance?
Pwnykins replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion

Hey all, I have recently been experiencing a TON of crashes on DayZ. The game will load, the server will load, after a few minutes, BOOM. It will hang on me and crash with the Windows Error popping up. Below is what it says. Here is some information on my computer. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Steam AND DayZ twice already CPU: i7 4770K GPU: EVGA GTX780ti SuperClocked Mobo: ASUS Maximus VI FORMULA PSU: COOLERMASTER M2 Silent Pro 720W RAM: Mushkin Enhanced Blackline at 1866MHz SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB (DayZ is installed here with just the OS) 3TB HDD storage Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BEX Application Name: DayZ.exe Application Version: 0.35.115.188 Application Timestamp: 52f91301 Fault Module Name: StackHash_0a9e Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 00000000 Exception Offset: 00000000 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Data: 00000008 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 0a9e Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Additional Information 3: 0a9e Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt

Thanks, I will definitely give reinstalling this current driver a try. If that doesn't work, I'll go back to the previous one.

While I agree with you that a lot of players on DayZ play this guy's role, I think that the community also feeds it. A friend of mine play the game walking the line between bandit and hero. We think of ourselves as the characters from The Boondock Saints. PS: Running at him with your fists up would have been better. Just punch his head and he would have a higher chance of going unconscious.
-
As do I in my last screen shot. Which looks weird. There are no cloud definitions at the moment. I would have to travel the map. It just looks like one big grey glop in the sky lol

Here's a simple capture I took while running around. For some reason the game refuses to utilize my GPU as well as it should. AMD FX-8350 @4.8GHz EVGA GTX770 4GB Classified

For some reason, I feel like your screen is SUPER dark.

The funny thing is, given the game's poor optimization, I'm willing to bet he can't run it at 60 steady FPS even with a triple 780 sli.

Sell me your CPU :D

Hey all, I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who just bought the game but we are skeptical it will run it. Desktop AMD Athlon X4 630 @ 3.25Ghz (standard is 2.8) 2 BFG GeForce GTX260 896MB DDR3 (SLI) ASRock AMD 990FX Extreme3 motherboard 4GB DDR3 RAM 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 32MB cache HDD 1366x768 resolution I think, or 1920x1080 (Whatever his TV is)

No we weren't new to the game, this was like 2 days ago lol. I think what happened was that he managed to get a good head hit when he punched me and making it easy to knock me out. My friend said his character was stuck on the animation a character makes when you take out your weapon. By the time he was finally able to take it out, the bambi had picked up my SKS and unloaded on him. Long story short, Alpha is Alpha bro.

Trusted a bambi claiming he was a NEW player. He asked for directions and I being the nice guy that I am, helped him out. As I turned around, he started to punch me with his fists and knocked me unconscious... I was in full gear going on a 5 day survival streak. To make matters worse, my buddy who was with me, and in full gear as well, was unable to kill the little bastard... The bambi somehow managed to pick up my weapon and kill my friend. A bambi, in no pants, no shirt and no shoes, took out 2 fully geared "vets" We felt so bad, we logged off and went to get drunk.

Having gone up against a human with an SKS and myself with a Mosin, I can definitely say it's one sided... Let go of the Mosin unless you have a long rage scope and have the distance between you and players... Otherwise, the bolt action on the Mosin is enough time to have an SKS unload 5+ bullets in you.

It's a raincoat. What'd ya expect. JK. Your clothes get wet whenever you step into marshes and stuff like that. I'm not sure if it has any sort of effect though on your mobility or health and stuff.

Not much to say in words but I have a short video for yall to watch instead.

Dying is half the fun in DayZ
-
I've always questioned this. Just like people say that wearing a ballistic helmet and ballistic vest also helps with damage mitigation. Some true confirmation would be awesome.

THIS. Look closely at the video. I know it's really poor quality and I hate youtube for downscaling my video. But he was shooting at me and it looked as if he was hitting the ground, with rock and dirt flying everywhere. I 100% agree I should have died.

I'm curious as to how you guys are getting Shadowplay to detect DayZ as a supported game? I have an EVGA GTX 770 Classified 4GB card and the latest drivers for both Shadowplay and GeForce but no luck. With Shadowplay enabled, it isn't showing in the game at all.

Sup DayZ forum I'm new here. The name is Pwnykins. I just started playing DayZ this week but am having issues getting the game to run "optimally" Now I know optimally varies from person to person but I would like to think I have a pretty decent rig to be able to handle the game well. But countless configuring of the settings has left me very little to be satisfied with. PC Specs CPU: AMD FX-8350 @ 4.7GHz GPU: EVGA GTX 770 Classified 4GB VRAM OC'd +50 on the core/+600 on the memory RAM: 16GB @ 1866 MHz MB: ASRock 990FX Extreme9 PSU: COOLERMASTER M2 Silent Pro 720w I am not having any heat issues as I am using a Rosewill Blackhawk gaming case with literally every fan slot filled, that's 8 fans on the case itself and another 2 on my CPU heatsink. My video card runs at 70 degrees celsius under full load in the game but my FPS will not rise above 30. Suggestions?

You bring up a good point regarding what optimal meant to me. I don't care much for the eye candy of the terrain/trees but I guess I am still trying to figure out exactly what every graphic setting actually does. The game clearly relies a lot on view distance due to people being able to snipe from far away, I'd like to be able to see those players if possible but I don't know if the setting that relates to draw distance/terrain also affects this one. As far as character detail, this I care about the most just due to the fact that I would like to enjoy the character I am looking at, so the max settings for character detail are a go. I need a steady FPS without those crazy dips though I know that's a perfect world. I will definitely try different things out

Here are my specs. Can anyone with some similar specs please tell me what your configurations are and what your FPS is?
