here's the thing, people would need to be organized, and start collecting all the parts (assuming their not going to be very common) and then start building it, if you had a clan this would work best, if you were a lone survivor this is realistic because you wouldn't have the lone wolf building a vehicle ready to go to war, look at the rick/governor fight in walking dead, or even the comic, now organized groups would be able to fit some nice machine gun turrets on top of those, and your example with Syria was awesome too, anywhere there's a rebellion people learn to make these weapons, and learn their new way of life, the lone wolf needs his primary weapon, a sniper probably, the massive group will start to craft some crazy weapons, go through town, and claim electro theirs and rebuild civilization, the freshie has his flashlight.

I like the idea, when you want to "build" want of these heavy arms turrets you might need a group carrying like one of every piece, or 2 pieces each, and I like the tripwire traps as well, I just think it would be frustrating if you had an awesome car and someone just blasted you, so tripwires/bombs would have to be sort of rare to counteract that, like 200% more rare then a functional, manned car

people with no weight (new spawns) can outrun them after a while out of town, people with a ton of gear (endgame kinda) cant outrun anymore due to weight, forced to fight zombies and use ammo.

I suggest leather shoes if your going for a cowboy look, or cowgirl that is ^_^

in the walking dead comic it happened like this: you shoot, every zombie hears it in about a 1 mile radius (or however far the sound travels) they all start walking that direction, this is how HORDES naturally happen, not hive mind, just someone shoots, they all start traveling to that one spot, eventually they all meet up, someone else shoots somewhere else, they all start traveling that way. hordes
