Bandits, Heroes, and Everything in Between

Well, I understand Bandits and especially KoS is never quite going away. It's natural where if you can kill someone with no consequences there'll always be a few vindictive people who'll just kill you for the sake of making you grief or at least, imagining so. Personally, I have a few 'marks' for weather it's 'okay' to KoS or not; Most important to least important: Airfield/Millitary base + Weapon out? -> Instant KoS Weapon out and aimed -> Extreme suspicion/Possible KoS Weapon on back -> Suspicious but not scared to see if they need something No visible gun -> Confident to approach I'm part of a clan that tries to KoS little as possible and help out some guys (most of which were pretty thankful and fed up of being KoS'd actually) and even got about 3 or so members in the clan I'm in thanks to it. I've only been killed once by some long range dude as he had a 5 man team taking over a stripped-dry elektro while helping some people out. I personally just can't quite understand the KoS mentality aside from people just being bored and getting DayZ to be a cheap BF4/CoD replacement, unless it's a rather under equipped fellow taking a lucky shot at a fully loaded guy, I can't understand any other reason than that though. -
Hey all, While I'm pretty sure it ought to go in the suggestions forum, I just wanted to check out GD's idea to music (pre-written pieces and self-made) to be introduced eventually. It's a misc, low-priority thing but I'd carry the fuck out of an acoustic or a harmonica and play that shit while sitting down for food/water/friends in a town or campfire with friends. What would you do if you just saw someone playing an instrument anyhow? I'd probably toss them a can of food haha :D

Sorry for being away guys, With regards to the copyright issues, if people upload it just for fair use rather than commercial use (as really, people wouldn't get DayZ just for the music and it isn't a selling point) I doubt there'd be any issues. Starbound has thousands of MiDI files that people can import and play. Something similar could be applicable?

I don't know about blowing into the mic but there could be a way to 'play' it somehow I guess? Probably letting people make their own with a music sheet may be the best way.

Yeah that'd also something of a possibility or even let users add their own music too o: or places with royalty free music like newgrounds etc

If you want to look us up while the servers are down, we're www.jksurvivors.com I haven't played much on the US one (EU person here) but I know that the EU one restarts every 4 hours and both should have third person available.

Would be interesting too! Though finding the music for it that isn't copyrighted would be the issue, probably. Space could be an issue for fitting one (Additional slot like melee/primary rifle?) That'd be awesome!

Haha I'm so glad you guys are taking well to my suggestion! It actually did come from previous experience with the STALKER trilogy and one of the things I loved the most was indeed when someone was playing the guitar. So that's why I think stuff like the acoustic and harmonica would do well in this sort of setting (Fucking brownie points if you can walk while playing [with a strap on for the guitar or something?]) Granted while not high priority, it's the trivial things in a game that make people love it. So I think the addition of fully usable instruments would be amazing and possibly encourage that player interaction Rocket really wants!

So you're a toxic thing to the community that just gains satisfaction from the loss of others? You're the type that ought to be publicly hung with boat rope and the tree branch as your gravestone. But at least it does make me all the more happy when I do kill off a few bandits here and there that one day, it could be you. Then I can't quite get around to thinking why, is there satisfaction in just making someone re-gear in about 2-3~hours depending on what they want? This is different, I'm not saying that upon being shot your stuff gets ruined but upon death big difference bud. -

Something to help against KoS? Everything gets instantly ruined simple as that. If no one can pick anything off of you, they'd have to waste resources to kill you. So since they cannot make anything off of you, they'd have to consider if using the shot(s) are worth it. Personally, if I catch someone off guard, I tell them to put their weapon away and hands up. If they comply, it's fine, I keep my sights on them and back off. If they fail to comply, I gun'em. Banditary? Not at all, I'd have given clear commands and if they wish to try and pull a fast one, well, I won't let them. Also, while a bit of a 'grey area' if I find people camping at the top of buildings with guns in the middle of a city, I run a few bullets by them. Did it to two folks in Elektro a few days ago, they ran off and combat-logged inside. Which was actually the best thing, so now they won't kill others out of anger or loot and they knew that going there may lead to a lesser-kind soul actually nailing them. -
I am part of a clan Just for Kicks, they actively seem to help freshspawns and the like along with giving them food etc. I myhself had someone help me out with a fullyloaded revolver + 14 spare shots and bandage roll. Only to be later killed be someone point blank with a moisen 2 hours later. I was pretty sad that I lost the dude's gun :C

PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING. You have no excuse to say such rubbish :/ normally companies that can afford testers get them. Though that results in the community not being able to point things out to help shape the experience into something they wish that the devs can add on while still persuing their vision. Heck, massive community-based pressure can result in certain things being changed that would have flown over the devs/testers heads!

Combatlogging, what it is, and how to prevent it

Combat logging is something that I kinda support, hate me much as you would but if I just have a python or no gun at all and some dude is trying to snipe me with a sniper or hunting me with his M4, I certainly should have the right to save my ass and haul out. I believe the best thing to do would be to prevent someone leaving mid-fight (especially if they engaged) would be to turn on the combat timer if you shot/attacked so innocents that are being hunted can leave while people who wish to get into the fight, engage it to the end. -
Tearing up a hoodie+raincoat and combining them together could be a possibility for something about a 6~10ish slot pack probably (Hoodie for the inside/carrying and raincoat for their general toughness to be the outer-shell of the pack) sounds like a feasable thing.

Name weapons that should be in DayZ SA

I'd agree on the Kar98, aside from it being a personal favorite weapon, it's historically declared as to how many of them were looted back during WW2. I would hope no semi-auto snipers come in, it'd be too stupid to have them in something like this ._. I'd list to see the Mossberg 500 as a shotgun though :D Maybe the Tokorov pistol to be a slightly more common, 9mm variant of the current two? (It only has 50 meter range and horrible accuracy though) While not a weapon, signal flairs would be amazing to have! Ooh could add a flairgun too I suppose. The AK-47 ought to be a bit prevalent along with the PPSH
