I kinda like HC and 1PP just annoying that when I walked into a jailhouse there was someone leaning out of a door around the first corner who fully unloaded an M4 into me that'd have been avoided if well, it was a 3PP server. At least I'd have been able to make contact and/or identify someone possibly being there before getting shot the fuck up. That aside, yeah hardcore is pretty swank, though the zombies seem to be more sensitive on it, kinda annoying.

Holy shit please confirm this because that'd be so awesome :D

Actually, I had met a few nice people the other day. Had about a 5~6 hour run on DayZ on a 30+ man server and met 3 people who were actually pretty cool. A fourth one who acted as a boom-box for me and two others, met another one alone who hurt a fresh spawn because...well...he was mentally disabled or something like that haha. Just before I logged out, I saw two other guys in Elektro by the hills where the cabin-houses are (the small 1-room houses with just the TV/kitchen room together), things were a bit tense at first but after they agreed to put their guns away I showed them a mosin I found, dropped down a pack'o 20 rounds since the guy's friend just had a shotgun. They even added me on steam, looking forward to playing with them again, if anything :D Granted I did meet some foes, one unseen dude killed off a friendly that I gave a 1911 to since he had an empty chest holster...another guy tried to loot his body who I quickly dropped, though never found the murderer of my friend :c Along with that, a dude I play with over skype got axe'd to the face in Riffy, downed him with my mosin...then Berezino had a dude running rampant with an M4 KOS-ing everyone to which I fell victim to. Finally, the most hilarious part was that another time, going through elektro I was finding piles of ruined/badly damaged stuff, eventually start going through the houses looking for loot (since there were no bodies, had been more than 10 min so was a bit safe to assume they left) and I find two dudes in camo+m4+payday masks logging out. Needless to say, my axe was used :D

found a browning! ITS HAZ MY FAVOURITE TROJAN SYMBOL!

While I really hate to burst your bubble...at the moment I've been told that the 1911 is a low-capacity version of the FNX for the time being...if the FNX wasn't already bad enough, now you have a version that has max 2 person (no clothes) killing potential :v -
Hey all o/! So I've been on a minor haitus for like, 3~ish weeks from the game it's self but each time I log in...I'm fully geared. As some who may've noted, my sig's changed with some rustle and tussle going on within the clan I was in before so I'm back to 'lone wolfing' the lands of chernerus. Partially, it's nice to have one's own company (though I still love some of the guys I was with before and pop into their TS from time to time <3 ) though with that comes the question, "What to do?" I'm not used to being on high pop servers but I'm sorely tempted to go on them, if death comes my way (which it probably would being fully kitted out) then I'll just go back and do the same'ol same'ol and re-gear. Though as the topic states, I don't have that captivation to it as I used to. I can understand that after 200+ hours in game, you'd do many a thing and it can get a bit stale...I suppose it's because I want to know where people are because even going along the coast has yielded nothing for me before. So any ideas on what to do? Also, I try to keep my KoS-ing to a minimum because that, I feel, really does ruin the game experience so that's not quite the option, so before you suggest it, don't. tl;dr haven't played the game for a bit, fully geared both HC and regular servers and don't want to turn into a KOS kiddie, wat do?

Thought I'd give a quick update; I tried going on a full 30+ man server and it really was quite interesting to meet the people who didn't just KoS even freshspawns who just wanted to get some of their stuff back. I found piles of stuff on roofs, a friend got axe'd in the face at riffy who was then killed off by yours truly. Met a duo of (british?) dudes that are out of wack and know how to have an awesome time, got held up for literally, just 2 cans of food by a full kit guy and lived, ran into another two dudes (sounded eastern european) and after initial negotiatons to put the guns away, I showed them a 'hidden' mosin and gave them a pack'o ammo for it! Total of like, 5 or so deaths (mostly from being a nupty in berezino) but it was all good fun for the most part and a large portion of the people I met were pretty cool! I hope more experiences are like this and it really does have me looking forward to +50 man servers to have even more wacky adventures!
-
The clan I was with primarily had their own server that hardly hit the 20 man mark ever so not hiding out as much as hanging out with my guys. Though yeah I've tried that before, then just ended up abandoning it for larger backpack to help out freshies along the coast xD
-
Sounds like not only you didn't KoS but you shared beans with such a large group of people, wish I'd have experiences like this. So I'll share my beans with you too, bud ;3

It is tempting, though the ping issues may be highly off-putting. Though it would be nice to try the updates before they come out entirely! I know what you're getting at, in all fairness I could do with some target practice and actual PVP practice/fights because there's a lot I don't know on how to act that'd be fun to learn, in all fairness. I'm kinda excited for the 80~ish man servers, partially for this reason! So yeah, I'll give it a shot today and see how it goes. Hopefully I do run into actual people.

It feels a bit relieving to be lonewolfing in a sense. The guys that left the clan and made their own still accept me with open arms to join them whenever even not as a full member with tags'n all so I know I have a place with them always ♥ so I think it's more of a question of other player interaction. Someone sent me a link to some dude that has a bit of a lengthy series on utubz (youtube) that is sorta re-kindling my want to play the game, hence me making this topic. I can understand where you're coming from, it's true to a point I suppose. Though I've only ever had an issue with the random dying in a fire station glitch that really jostled my jimmies with regards to game issues. Also sorting out the bullet dispersion (especially on pistols) would be really nice to have :3 I think it's just how un-eventful things normally are, probably need to go to more high populated servers more often.

If cardiac arrest from either, that's gotta be some hardcore shit or the victim is unlucky as fuck xD
-
I think it's more of the vigilante justice anti-hero thing going on for some. Others just built a hatred for them for partially ruining their experience and instead of turning into a bandit, they try their best to hunt other bandits instead? Or at least KoS kiddies.

People stay saying that there's "Nothing to do" in DayZ aside from loot and KoS. Though, it'd require thousands of people to agree to this at least, I think it'd be good if there were people out there that actually used their imagination and went to try and conjure up their story and play it out. Each time you die, why not change up your character a bit? Why not define what type of character you want yours to be? (Rural type with a checked shirt, baseball cap, hunter pants, improvised backpack, Blaze/shotgun/PUscoped mosin for example?) This isn't a milsim, it's a war-torn-zombie/infected infested country and you washed up on shore. The mental stimuation of the game comes from you doing something, so if you have a few minutes as you look around and figure out, what was your guy like for the past 20 years? What was s/he doing? Just think about it and try to stick to that kind of character through each 'life'. Obviously this includes others having to take part, though the amount of fun that you can have is quite high. Though obviously we need quite a few people to not only agree to this but to actually play it out. Even if you're a KoS bandit or a hero, this is something that I believe would boost your DayZ experience by far. As a bandit you get to have un-ruined gear, while as the victim, you get to escape with your life or maybe, even turn the tables. As a hero, you have the advantage of not being KoS'd but also have the terrible possibility of being turned into a captive. TL;DR there's no absolute way to play the game, I haven't seen a topic dedicated to roleplaying or suggesting it so I thought I'd at least put it forward to see what you guys think about it.

I feel that leaving notes would also be a great thing once persistent items/storage arrives, it'd be so great!
-
In OP's defence, I personally find the DevTracker to be a bit hard to use to find a nice solid log of updates rather than just fragments of them. Plus, some people are more busy than others so time and will are factors, not just one or the other ;3
-
They seem to be pretty anal about the rules, which is understandable though I wouldn't want to be the one to run it xD
-
Ah okay! Now I know what you mean by that, then. If that's the case, then heck yeah private hives! It'll take some time but yeah, I look forward to them a fair bit more now! I went over the original post, I think I didn't see it but then again I didn't go through it more :x in all fairness, I thought that making a topic solely about RPing in DayZ would be a good thing to do.
-
I don't think private hives is what we're looking for really...it's just getting enough people to agree that it's a good idea to come up with, present and heavily push the idea forward so that the devs may consider some ideas that may help us out depending on how much support the idea for roleplaying gets to actually integrate it into the game it's self somehow?

So guys, I was thinking with the flat cap, wool coat and leather shoes, there really has to be a walking stick and fancy trousers. If I'm going to be in a zombie apocalypse I want to look like a total gentleman while doing so (blaze double rifle no paint + revolver?) Also in a place like Chernerus wouldn't cigs be a big thing for the general populace? I think it'd be pretty awesome to implement them or something even if (better yet, if anything) they are roll-ups.
-
I would shoot those faster than a payday mask wearer waving a mosin about as if he was part of an epileptic fit rave party group.
-
They're going to implement facial hair at some point. Needless to say, I thoroughly look forward to my beard growing exploits.
-
The Merry Gentlemen Group MGG Requirements: Wool coat Well suited cargo pants/jeans No backpack (Unless a mule-man is hired by a Gentleman) Leather shoes Chest holster is optional Weapons allowed Revolver Shotgun (not sawn off) Blaze doublerifle :v I can imagine something like that forming one day haha
-
I want hats like that and pocket-watches too ;~; though I felt it'd be asking for too much really. Think we'd get something outta them if we ask on reddit real nice :3 ?

Well, the issue is that as I keep reading a fair bit is that the moment you say 'friendly' is when a lot of people are going to kill you for just saying that word. So really, all I could suggest is: A) Don't bother with the shotgun until it gets some major changes to 'actually' be something more than a peppermill that does more than make someone sneeze when fired in their direction. B ) Go for an SKS with a PU scope, then get an M4 only when you have good MP parts for it + ACOG/bipod, the mosin is good don't get me wrong but you don't seem like the type of guy for long range engagements. Personally, I have more SKS kills than either Mosin or M4 really. C) A blaze is also a semi-viable option, since it only has two shots you have to make them count but are more likely to KO someone rather than kill them, which leads to the sporter 22 being an option but...you'd need to land a few shots. On the flip side, the recoil is so low that you can use it to snip 3 shots pretty fast depending on your trigger finger speed. The issue is finding the damn gun to start with and the ungodly spawnrates of the mags.

Is the DayZ Mod better than Standalone?
hiniberus replied to TheCookiemob59's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
While somewhat on topic, I'd like to ask how active is the game? I guess development came to a halt for SA though I'd be interested in getting the mod if it's got more stuff and is still very active on the EU side of things player wise.
