    Why I'm a Bandit..

Back in the day when I was on 4chan quite often, this type of post was known as troll bait. Usually with something later on being posted like > Say something stupid / annoying / shit post > Guaranteed replies Basically, this is internet forum 101. This was such simple bait, and yet so many keep falling for it. I wasn't going to contribute to this thread, yet there were 2 replies, and as soon as I hit "back", it said there were 16 replies. Seriously, guys... if you see a thread you hate, DO NOT POST IN IT.
  2. I suicide as a fresh spawn because I'm a lazy jerk, sometimes. I understand it's playing in a way that is meta gaming. But right now I just play for player interaction, good or bad. Hell, last night I shot someone in Balota. Guy sounded sorta sad and I had only typed to him I was going to bandage him so he didn't die. After a few minutes, I actually felt bad for him, as he didn't attack me first. So I ran back in, epi penned him and used VOIP to say I was someone different (he didn't know what I looked like when I shot him, I had changed clothes). Surprisingly he thanked me and didn't blow my head off. Made me feel even more guilty, but if I had said "I'm actually the dude who shot you and had a change of heart and saved you". He might have killed me (I did ruin a lot of his stuff :/ ) or just gotten really confused and thought I was trying to mind f--k him. Maybe I'm just a trigger happy softy inside.

Let's talk about the Long Range Scope.

If they want to make sniping realistically dangerous and unfair, they need to make it realistically hard. Once you start getting to long distances, it should involve not only gravity, but wind, temperature, breaching technique, zeroing your scope every time you have to put it on/ take off, and match grade ammo.

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

Your idea still punishes PK'ers, and the concept of this game is all about being in a lawless place. The hope (I stress it's just hope at this point) was / is for people to come together because of a common threat and hardships. As has been explained, to death, is that there is currently no threat in this game outside of other players. The zeds are a joke as soon as you find any axe, and everyone knows how to loot and where to loot to survive forever. Adding in some arbitrary in-game mechanic of "Don't do this!" will ruin the whole concept. I think Rust, however, is shaping up to do this well. Currently, your character is locked to a server and everything you build and achieve is locked to that server. On the servers I've played on, you generally don't want to just go around KOS'ing everyone and making lots of enemies because you will become an outcast on that server and everyone will be gunning for you. I mean, it doesn't stop everyone from playing that way, but generally it isn't just a 100 man free-for-all. People generally try to group up into little war bands with some being strictly PvP, some being base builders, and others trying to stop bullies and raiders.

Very curious about choice of gender.

Personally, I don't really like to just stare at a character's ass, period, but I just always like the look of chicks in game who are wearing tougher looking stuff; tac gear, and weapons, and all that. In other games, like MMO's (when I actually played them) I would pick male characters for the fighter types, and female characters for the caster types. This was generally because while I would love an armored female character who looked sorta hot but bad-ass, you usually got female "armor" that was either just slut gear, or a far weaker version of the male armor. When it came to magic users, all of the robes and non-armor clothing were girly looking robes that just looked awkward on dudes. If the option is available, I usually pick old men characters because an old dude who looks like he can ruin someone's day is always pretty cool, at least in my book.
  6. A lot of people I kill DO seem to care pretty greatly about dying. The threads floating around here also indicate that at least some people get really booty bamboozled about dying, not just bambis getting hunted on the coast. Granted, being shot as a fresh spawn on the coast before you can even move 3 feet is not within your control, but every time I've been killed that wasn't massive lag or someone who was hacking (Only 2 times I can seriously say were hacking 100%) the reason I died is because I was either too trusting, or I wasn't shooting well enough, or I didn't properly scope out where I was going and got ambushed.

    Really, devs?

Coulda fooled me. I basically need a gun to safely move anywhere since lately I keep running into KOS baddies. Not saying all KOSers are baddies, as I get bored and KOS at times, but the people I've been running into usually require all their ammo to take me down because they can't shoot for shit. So when I have a gun, I usually ruin them fairly quickly.... usually. If I'm given the choice between a bow and my fists, and the bows are as "useful" as any non firearm weapon that isn't the fireaxe, I'll pass. Errr, wasn't suggesting they change bullets. In fact, I think some need a real adjustment. My worry is that I'm going to bury 5 arrows in someone's chest and they'll still be able to rush me and Mike Tyson OHKO me.
  8. I'd run around with my Mauser Kar 98k, and basically shoot at anyone and everyone. Eventually someone would kill me, and I'd be like, "You piece of shit. LOL I pwn you next time, nub, you got lucky!" and then I would respawn and try to get to my body. Right? G-guys?
  9. Demoth

    Really, devs?

When they are clunky as shit to use, horribly inaccurate and require 90 arrows to kill, your tune my change. Sorry, I'm just skeptical! :(
  10. I agree man. If you read my earlier post, I acknowledge that some people would KOS. Some people would even betray. But there comes times when you run into stretches where large groups of people who don't know each other act like sociopaths. Killing people who clearly pose no threat, killing people who helped them, and killing people who are beneficial to them. Edit - Obviously "pose no threat" is subjective. But I mean like, when I get the jump on someone and say "Hey man, not looking for a fight. Mind if I look around? If you aren't comfortable with that, I'll leave", only to have the person turn around, tell me it's fine, and wait until I'm distracted and then shoots me, despite me not having anything worth dirt on me. Again, that's leaving myself open, but some of the most fun moments is when I meet someone cool and we go on our way or travel together. It's how my Steam friend's list basically doubled.
  11. I don't complain about KOS, but I will admit I just had a very annoying experience. This guy was in Berenzino, sniping fresh spawns. I take my raggedy character and my Blazer with 2 shots, and I creeeeep around the guy, making sure that he can't see me sneaking. There was only a tiny bit of him exposed. I finally get within 100 meters, and I blow his face off. The new spawns he was firing at, 4 of them, came running up and waved to me, thanking me for killing him. I told them it was no problem .Then suddenly 3 of them rush me, trying to beat me up. I run backwards, killing 1 and then having to switch to my axe. The 4th one looted the guy, got his Mosin, and proceeded to finish off the 2 attacking me. I thank him, and he goes, "No problem dude" and shoots me in the head. So yeah, I mean, it was kinda my fault for sticking around, but sometimes you run into a stretch where everyone acts like a sociopath. Not saying they wouldn't exist, but very rarely do people just straight out murder people who are clearly beneficial for them.

    Try not to freak out

Not to sound like I have a stick up my ass, but the nuclear bombing of Japan, while not necessarily unjustified (that's another debate) was clearly an atrocious occurance that could have been, and may still be, a precursor to how other wars could result in. It was a horrible thing for people to experience. Other conventional bombings like Dresden were just as destructive, but Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the only places to ever he nuked, and survivors of that experience still live and wish that no one from ANY nation have to live through that or die in that fashion. Remember: a lot of the people that died didn't die in the initial blast but hours to days later in agony, and they weren't soliders. So yeah, it's a touchy subject for some. Not downplaying any other type of ways people die horribly in war, or the atrocious war crimes of Imperial Japan, but those two bombings were sort of a uniquely troubling event.
  13. Maybe I'm just tired, but not sure why my post was quoted, as your response doesn't seem to have anything to do with what I was saying, unless my reading comprehension is in the crapper.
  14. I got a PM from Orlok that they're actually going to hard cap the FPS at 5 for everyone. If you shoot your guns, your Steam account will be charged 3 dollars for every hit but 10 dollars per miss. So to answer your question, no, we're doomed so we should play another game like the critically acclaimed Infe--- *gets stabbed by Dean*

Let's talk about the Long Range Scope.

LRS encourage a playstyle that is crazy OP at the moment. As soon as I get one and Mosin, I'm averaging 20 kills until I get bored and try to CQB with a pistol and eventually die. There is currently no counter to a sniper right now, except for another sniper.
  16. While I do enjoy shootouts in this game and the looong stalking / hunting / waiting games you have to play to get action, it's not what I want the final game to be. My biggest fear is that once they implement more environmental and AI zombie threats that make it REALLY impractical and hard to just roll through cities and gun fight, or sit on hills for hours and snipe, the strictly PVP KOS crowd will start throwing a bitch fit and BI will cater to them. KOS and banditry are important to keep this game tense, but once you get gun and have explored the whole map, there is little else to do.
  17. OP confirmed as new. He said motorcycle, not ballistic helm.

Please, for the love of Gaben, stop

To be as impartial as possible (I was bickering with him too in the thread you mentioned) it's really silly to have him say "I'm just going to call it Russia" and get the response that such an attitude helped contribute to things like ethnic warfare and genoice. When I say "I'm hungry", it'd be quite unreasonable for someone to then berate me for casually saying that when so many have died from famine.

    .22lr Damage is absurd.

I could, but this was directly relating to the myth that hydrostatic shock is somehow this ridiculous 100% scientifically proven event that causes .556 rounds to blow basketball sized exit wounds on people. I mean, shit, the guy who essentially founded Delta Force took a .50 BMG to the gut and was triaged as beyond hope, yet survived a full day on sheer force of will and incredibly phyical strength. My point wasn't to say hydrostatic shock does or doesn't exist, but "round superiority" debates always get under my skin.
  20. I've had people justify I spooked them and hence why they fired first, OR they thought I looked like a KOS'er and I proved them right, despite them firing first. People do way too much mental gymnastics to avoid having accountability. Only once, ONCE did I shoot a guy who spooked me. He ducked behind a wall and was like, "WHOA WHOA, dude, chill!" He apologized for spooking me and put his gun away and came around the corner hands up. I was stunned he did that, but I decided to play nice and we talked for a bit. We then traded some ammo since he had M4 mags and rounds and I had Mosin rounds for him. Felt bad for ruining his assault vest so I gave him mine in a peace offer exchange. In the end I got a double mag, two 40 mags and 100 .556 rounds and he got 100 Mosin rounds and a pristine compensator as well as an assault vest. I felt it was a much better exchange than simply slugging it out.

    Best people ever!

Better than giving him duped bullets in his brain.
  22. People don't handle perma death very well. Remember, it's always your fault they ended up dying, not their lack of aim / manners / common sense. I can't count how many people shot at my first, I kill them, and they scream "You KOS piece of shit!!". That leaves me all levels of confused.

    Any ETA on next update?

I didn't. I am 500 pounds and got super excited, so I took about 30 breaths while typing that. I then dropped my inhaler and it landed in my Cheetos bag, so when I used it I puffed Cheetos dust directly into my lungs and was immediately transported to a hospital.

    Any ETA on next update?

They better come out with a super optimized near-complete version with all features by next month, or I'm moving onto the FAR more polished game, Infestation. .... ok.... I can't keep a straight face, sorry! I feel your pain OP. I'm itching like a crack fiend for more updated info.
  25. They don't need to balance it because it's not a problem if you know how to play.Edit - Why not adapt to the world you live in, rather than trying to conform the world to you?
