  1. Let me add that I will forever hate hackers for ruining one of my favorite MMOs, APB.
  2. What makes me laugh is the level of denial of hacks vs. the level of hackusations. Rarely are people reasonable. My friend (no, not me) used to create scripts in Action Quake II. I was never interested in hacking because I get too guilty too easily when making people sad. Still, he would basically insta-headshot everyone the second they entered his view and half the server would be screaming hax while the other half defended this guy and claimed the dead guys were just salty children who couldn't stand getting rocked. I have been cheated in DayZ. It sucks. I made some threads about it to vent, and yes, desync deniers showed up to blast me. It happens. We'll never know the proliferation of hacking, but I hope it gets stamped out fast.

Reason why Bandits rise and heroes die.

I don't mouth off, just to be clear. But I've played a bit of Rust with a friend, and we keep getting into shitty servers that seem chill until we raid one of the admins houses or one of his friends. We even got raided in revenge but beat them pretty soundly and chased them off. I said, "Go on now, git!" And I see, "How about you 'git'" and I was banned. In games like this, being at the mercy of someone with supreme power is never comforting. Sure, I like it when disruptive jerks and cheaters are kicked, but I've met a lot of admins who are unable to handle someone not licking their crack. And getting banned on a game like Rust can equal a LOT of time and progress lost.

The difference between modders and the DayZ staff is the DayZ staff are doing a job. They have bosses, reports, and they have to manage people while also working while delegating tasks. My friend made a few mods back in college, but he also worked on them non stop. Like, 18 hours a day with a few of his other programming friends. You can actually bang out a LOT with a small group of guys because you know everything being put in, how it works and you don't have anyone breathing down your neck to add this, take out that.

Where are the updates? **crickets chirping**

I forgot that every big budget triple A title always launches on time. It's only paid-for alphas that slow down. Honestly, you act like this game SA has been missing projected progress timelines for years, like Duke Nukem Forever. Just because we're trying to inject reason into doomsday prophecies of this game doesn't make us "fanboys". Will there ve hiccups? Delays? Game breaking issues that need ironing out? Yes. People may even be right about this game's future and BI will sell it off and we'll end up with a shitty game completed by a second dev team halfway through. Problem is, we don't have any proof that any of this is the case. We have a delay in stable branch updates as they prepare to release a massive implementation of physics and gameplay features that incorporate it. But again, people want it NOW NOW NOW, or else they believe the dev team is asleep at the wheel.

My opinion is heavily biased because I've yet to meet an admin in any game who didn't kick and/or ban on a whim. The reason I love the SA server structure is because admins have to suck it up or else they can have their server shut down? Are you and your squad cconsistently getting rolled by 1 guy who is clearly a better shot than you and your friends? Tough shit. Like Rust, my concern with private hives is also that you eventually know everyone on that server. It takes a lot of the suspense of always running into random folks after a while.
  8. Read Gews post. Carefully. This is supposed to be a simulation, or as close as possible. When you have a very accurate carbine basically sneezing out rounds on a crazy cone of randomness at under 100 meters, it's not okay. I shoot my own stock Bushmaster M4A3 all the time. Maybe it's because I'm not weak, but I can fire off rounds in rapid succession and the recoil doesn't suddenly make it so that I'm looking at the sky by round 5. Yeah, proper firing form and technique is needed to aachieve tight groupings, but aiming down the sights with a bipod of a pristine M4 isn't going to make your round hit 15 feet to your right when you're only 100 meters away.

    Xbox

I still believe this game will be utter shit on a console and not work / run well at all. It WILL look like shit, believe you me. I'm a skeptic though. Maybe they will port this and make it awesome, but I'll believe it when I see it. Also, the "u mad bro" was followed by an actual response. You may want to, like, seriously calm down. Your response made it sound like you were about to stroke out over a post on a video game forum

Everyone who enjoyed the core experience of public hives hated how the private servers basically sucked out everyone. People (like you) gravitate towards the path of least resistance. You like the game, but when a promise of making things just a tiiiiniest bit easier, you get on it. Others start doing it, and eventually it becomes a very clich-centric hub of ass kissing players being ruled by admins who kick and ban on a whim. It always happens. Meanwhile, the only people left on public servers are trolls and hackers and nothing is done about it because no one of value plays there anyway. The public hive scene died because of private hives, and even people denying it in other threads always seem to end up proving it by accident when showing data they think supports otherwise.
  11. That was an intellectually dishonest counter point to what we were talking about. Nothing about that gun was "stock", and that isn't just normal ammo. And I shoot a lot. I'm not sure who you are if you're consistently iron sight hitting targets at 1k with random normal people at ranges, but you're either all super snipers who had your memories erased, or you're grossly exaggerating.
  12. I don't think those targets being hit are actual human beings in a post apocalyptic setting from random people. I'm also a skeptic about a 1.1 KM Mosin shot, as that's better than what some modern military marksman rifles are effective to. Also, if he made that shot with a Mosin, that's a controlled environment. Not in the middle of a destroyed country with variable wind, temperature and then humidity... the things that start coming into play to a greater extent when you're not shooting a non anti-material round like a .50 BMG.
  13. I didn't want to come off as being against robbing. I have been robbed twice and they were tense. I also successfully robbed someone once, and it was tense. But until they can fix crazy animations and desync, I won't rob anyone anymore because people start sprinting and the game loses track and people beging goinf through walls / teleporting and rubber banding.
  14. Also, have fun with someone who desyncs and starts teleporting and going through walls and then shoots you with a gun you didn't see them pull.
  15. Show me a Mosin Nagant that can still reliably hit someone at 800 meters from someone untrained in long distance marksmanship WITHOUT match grade ammo. Seriously, unless that Nagant has had so much work it's basically a new rifle, you're going to be lucky to hit anything, especially with surplus ammo.

    Xbox

If you think PC gamers are immature and obnoxious, just wait until a game like this hits Xbox live. I have a 360 I still play to death, and my Ps3 has always just been a Blu ray player except for when big exclusives hit like Demon's Souls and The Last of Us, but Xbone really dropped the ball from the second it was announced and I look forward to getting a Ps4 when something releases that I really want. But likw others have said, even next gen systems are like, what, a 30% power increase from last gen? Not the type of power you would need for a game of this magnitude, ASSUMING DayZ hits its max potential.
  17. Basically what Irish said. Still, the rate they are adding content is making a lot of people inpatient, which makes me wonder why they bought into the Alpha. Not saying you are part of that group, OP, but some people want a finished game RIGHT NOW. Any assurance that good things are coming are dismissed out of hand and flame wars break out.
  18. I've pistol murdered a LOT of people. I've combatted large groups of people with my magnum. Your suggestion won't deter me. But I've helped a lot of people too and had a lot of great interactions, even at military bases where I helped someone who broke their legs on the ATC ladder. If all of your experiences are bad shootouts and executions, work on your social skills and observation skills.
  19. I can attest to this. Some ass hat KOS'd my essentially bambi friend. He runs up to check the body and u came out of a bush I had ducked into and single Mosin tappes him in the back of his head. Somehow this ruined the guys backpack and pants.
  20. This is a rant / whine thread, so no need for alpha reminders as I have already gone to the bug tracker and up voted every report about this. I'm aware Dean acknowledged this and has plans to change it. Still, they need to change this bullet damage BS to clothing and gear ASAP. I can't wrap my head around how they thought it would reduce KOS. Every time I decide to become a KOS jerk, I could give less then a crap about the gear of the guy in killing. I'm just trying to be a dick until I'm eventually gunned down. Yet when I'm taking the roll of newb protector / hero / explorer, some asshole ambush artist will hit me a few times before I can run to cover, assuming I don't die. Last night I was trying to circle Elektro to get to Kamyshovo to meet a friend new to the game. I run into a dude on the coast with an SKS and he immediately fires on me despite my gun away. No biggie. I simply hide the circle back and catch him with his pants down as he was thinking I ran the other way. I kill him but he had a Mosin butt buddy who shoots me on the leg (I *think*). I take off running and realize my pants are ruined. All the food in them? Ruined. Then I noficed my backpack is ruined. My shirt? Ruined. Assault vest? Ruined. That 1 Mosin bullet ruined everything I had everything in them. I never went back for that guy because he was well concealed, but while shit. Apparently the only way this could have happened was if I was shot in the vest, into my shirt, in my chest and through my body, out my back and then into my backpack where the bullet ricocheted off of everything. The trauma then caused me to shit my pants, ruining them. And yet oddly, I was barely injured and didn't bleed.

    Goddam you magic bullet!

Maybe I need to stop being a fashion diva in the middle of armageddon, but I hunt for clothes of particular style. I finally got the right colored hoodie, and now I'm in literal rags. I was just annoyed, but in the grand scheme it's no biggie. Obviously being attached to gear is never good

Reason why Bandits rise and heroes die.

I'm vocally against private hives because they break up large communities into fractured small communities. Look at the state of Rust. It's all private servers. It's such a pain in the dick building up your character only to have the server go down and lose everything. You then switch to a new server and after a few days you lose everything again because a badmin gets angry for whatever BS reason and bans half the server for killing his friend. You guys rolling as a 12 man murder squad is actually fun for a lot of us DayZ players. It keeps things tense and on our toes. Makes life exciting. Private hives will exist, but I dread those days. I fear all the carebears will go to their servers while all the clans will slump off to theirs and boot anyone who DARES kill them or challenges their supremacy. This will leaves public hives a wasteland of solo KOSers and hackers.

Show me proof that all development and care has ceased, as you claim. All I see are bug tweaks and content being added. The only thing that has slowed down is moving stuff from exp branch to stable. Honestly, the level of whining and conspiracy is too much.
