  1. I don't know how anyone can choose the SKS. As soon as you get semi-good clothes and stuff them with food / supplies, you take no damage from bullets. I've been shot 5 times at once with an SKS, turned around and rushed the guy while hip firing my M4 at close range. I did a 60 round mag dump and probably hit him onlt with 15 of the bullets, but the item absorption rate has absolutely raped most weapons ability to kill.
  2. Some people just like the idea of playing with girls, though not sure why it would matter. Some guys just feel that games can also act as a real life social setting and meet a gal who likes what they like; while it has happened, I would say it's a VERY low probability and should not be a go-to method. My wife, being 40, has absolutely no interest in video games and hasn't for 40 years. She thinks they are a waste of time and begrudgingly leaves me in peace to play them for a couple hours here and there. Honestly, I kind of prefer it this way as if she were a gamer I might not get as much done as she motivates me to do.
  3. One of my best kills was on a girl... or at the very least, someone using a voice changer. Either way.... Some girl ran up to me and said she was new and was trying to find her way around. She also claimed to be shot at and asked if I had a spare weapon. So I gave her an Magnum. What she did not realize was the magnum was ruined, as were the bullets inside. She picked it up and said, "So trusting" and I hear *click click* as the gun was pointed at me. I just calmly replied that you can't trust anyone, and shot her in the face. So no, just cause you're a chick doesn't mean jack.
  4. This community seems pretty up to date with the latest AMA's and tweets, and when I try to look I just get bogged down with incorrect or conflicting info. But is there any ETA on when terrain is going to be fixed? Or if Dean is quite aware of it? I've managed to kill my fair share of KOS'ers today, and at one point turned into a KOS'er myself (I know, I'm a dick, WHATEVER!) But a lot of my fights ended with me using a lot more rounds than I should have, and getting myself killed at least once, because I'll be standing on a hill, or peeking out from behind a tree and shoot.... only to hit some invisible wall. Then I have to reposition so that I'm basically standing out in the middle of nothing, completely exposed, just to make sure my shots aren't hitting some invisible stuff. Everyone is pretty well aware that if you're laying on a hill and shooting down, your bullets just hit the floor. But I'm noticing a LOT more instances now where if you're shooting near a tree or a bush, the actual tree is like 50% wider than what you're seeing, so you have to lean out a LOT, and not just what your ironsights / scope is telling you. This is also problematic because it seems to be 1 way. You can't shoot from around the tree, but someone shooting at you can hit you. It's very frustrating. Has Dean made mention they are aware of this? In a game where death means going back to square one, this can be a pretty big deal for those of us always on full servers where no one is friendly and firefights are constant. I'm sure this will be fixed down the road, just wanted to know if anyone heard anything.
  5. Errr, because it's an alpha and it specifically warns you that this will happen? It's a known bug and the dev team is hard at work trying to fix it. But unfortunately, this game is about constantly loss and exploration. If your main goal is simply to gear up as fast as possible and engage in firefights, you might want to wait for the beta, or retail release. It's annoying, and it's happened to all of us. Well, like your friend, some people do manage to not have this happen, but also understand that your character stays in the game 30 seconds after you leave. Zombies are acting really weird and sometimes aggro from stupid distance and will run through all kinds of hidden terrain and walls to get to you no matter how carefully you try to look before logging out. So yeah, you might even be getting killed when you think you're logging out in a safe spot.

    ESP hacks are annoying

Being cheated in other shooters is annoying, there is no doubt about it. The problem with being cheated in DayZ is that you lose everything when someone decides to turn on ESP and get a giant yellow square around your character and then shoot you through stuff. People invest hours in gearing up, having adventures and tweaking their outfits and loadouts to what they like. I, personally, try to make my guy (well, gal) look pretty badass without resorting to all just TTsKO stuff. I usually try to rock grey tactical cargo pants and shirt with black baseball cap, black gloves and black assault vest. Getting very specific is really troublesome. Just now, I got sniped in the face after having sniped another dude in the face who had just sniped my friend in the back. (Snipers sniping snipers who snipe!) All of the kills were legit, except I should have killed the guy who killed me. I was standing, leaning over the side of a tree and shot him right in the face.... except I hit some invisible barrier because when I shot, I saw bits of rock and dirt kick up in the air right in front of me, and a second later the guy shot and killed me. While terrain glitches, which have been reported to hell and back, exist and are agitating, I can accept that these are things that need to be ironed out in time. It's also no one's fault. But people running paid-for scripts? That's a real big "Fuck you" when it happens, because someone went above and beyond seeking means to completely negate all of what you achieved. And unlike other shooters, you can't just give them the finger and jump servers and have all of your gear. You have to start with nothing. It's like dying in Diablo II hardmod because someone uses an exploit to kill your character when they're not supposed to be able to. Everything you worked for suddenly goes up in a puff of smoke and there was NOTHING you could have done about it.

    ESP hacks are annoying

I was actually expecting more people to come in calling me a big baby who got outplayed and came to QQ on the forums. Don't get me wrong, I get killed all the time and this is only the second time someone killed me in a SUPER obvious waym the first time was my first 2 hours and someone killed me with the .pbo exploit. That means there were a good 300 hours between seeing a hack, or at least an obvious one, and that's pretty good. I've had some really questionable deaths, but not something I could say was a definite. Hopefully BattleEye works this out because I have seen a LOT of demo videos on YouTube showcasing ESP and auto aim hacks, and this worries me.

    Purge them all

23 is still considered a kid in most circles, champ. Even when I was 28, I was still considered the baby of the agency I worked for. I also hate to burst your bubble, but most kids I run into are actually pretty friendly, though I always feel weird playing with them. It's the late high / college kids who are usually the nastiest people to play with.

    Globally Banned - DayZ Standalone

I know people who dupe stock guns and put them in places where the guns normally spawn. It's really grimy to do and their hopes is to get so many people with duped guns that you can't ban them because some would be innocent.

When is weapon damage being tweaked?

    That's what I'm talking about :(
  11. Non re spawning loot means that the first 10 people who join will be geared to the gills and everyone else will just run around and die of hunger.

    Water purification

I can see this turning into people hoarding water purification tablets and then you're right back to where we started with all water being drinkable.... for some. Then you'll have people trying to explore and dying of sickness and thirst because you can't find a randomly generated solution. Pumps aren't rare, but once zombies are plentiful and dangerous and servers are up to 100 people, getting to pumps will be a challenge unto themselves.
  13. The problem is that there are hackers in this game. Not a lot, but they are real. What happens is that once you experience a hacker, any type of shady experience immediately causes people to default to believing they are running into a script kiddie. For instance, I can think of only one instance where my group and I fought someone who was using ESP hacks. Considering we were the only people on that server at the time, and we were all spread out in hiding spots a good 800 meters from each other, this guy b-lined it to all of us, one by one, and beat us to death. (He kept getting behind us, always knowing which way we were facing and turning as we turned) Considering all of us have terrain turned to low because our computers aren't super top of the line, that experience was incredibly fishy. But there have been other times people have b-lined it towards our hiding spots and we've gotten into fights. I can't really call hacks because those servers had lots of people. Maybe they were hiding and saw where we all met. Maybe they had a spotter guiding them. Maybe our guns clipped through a wall. I mean, hell, even the one where I say I am positive it was ESP hacks was just incredibly good luck on his part, or some other weird way he was able to see our character through trees and bushes. But yeah, hacks are out there man. Just look on YouTube at people demoing their hacks. From what I understand, hacks cost money though, so my only hope is that BattleEye gets better and mass bans people so they constantly have to rebuy the game.... well, and their hacks, though any support to those script creators makes me upset.

When is weapon damage being tweaked?

Accuracy in what way? The guns are pretty accurate giving the right conditions. Then again, the Mosin is hyper accurate compared to what it should be, unless you are using some type of super Mosin that was a sniper variant perfectly preserved for 70 years.

    CLASSES and SPECIALIZATIONS

I prefer it being classless because now you're opening up a whole new set of rules to balance. And let's face it, it's impossible to completely balance things in this type of game. People will always find what to take and how to min/max their character. As it stands, I'd prefer not to be constrained by outside rules that give someone else magical numbers that make them better at one thing than me.
  16. As an older gamer, I laugh when people blame in-game behaviors on the young, as though back in the day we all held hands and sang songs. I remember trolling in Ultima Online and how extensive it was. Even back in MUDs, and how dickish people were. Everyone I play DayZ with is 35+ years old, and they are incredibly sadistic ingame and love to KOS. I'll shoot anyone with a gun, and I'm the nice guy of the group.
  17. So someone who likes to shoot people in a game where you can shoot people means that they are a sadist in real life? Hmm. You sound like someone who just took a psych 101 course and is now a doctor wannabe. Honestly, this game was deisgned around interactions that range from friendly encounters to people blowing your face off for no reason. It's the up-in-the-air stuff that makes this game so interesting. The problem I'm finding, lately, is that the KOS when players are fully geared is way too prevalent. There is no tension anymore because it's now always going to be a shootout. If you're rocking a firearm I'm probably going to blow you away unless you very quickly yell "I'm not dangerous". Chances are you won't be able to make it close enough for me to hear you before I kill you. I work way too hard to equip myself with what I have and I'm not going to lose it for being naive approaching someone kitted out like me. That said, I love going to new spawn areas and killing bambi hunters, or chilling in Balota and waiting for other decked out dudes to test my skills against, possibly losing it all.
  18. What sort of Player are you on DayZ?Your Result: Bandit 85% You are the people that ruin other peoples days and steals their pants. You like to go up to someone and make them dance for their life for your entertainment. You like to shoot almost anything that has a weapon or seems to be some sort of threat. At least you don't kill everything you see. 68%Survivor 29%KOS'er 14%Hero
  19. Without taking the quiz, I know I'm just an inconsistent psycho. I will kill almost any and everyone I meet unless they talk to me.... as soon as they're like "hey, what's up?" I can't pull the trigger. That's why I prefer to ambush people and gun them down before they can talk to me. I also don't usually kill under geared people unless they're being jackasses.
  20. Outstanding. Love Key and Peele and glad it fits so well with DayZ
  21. Incorrect. Painkillers take about 10 minutes to kick in. Morphine is instant. This has been tested and confirmed.

    Instant Death

Also, the positional audio is not currently working correctly. I've had my friend firing in full auto with his M4 behind me, and I don't hear it. He will also be to the left of me, fire his Mosin, and I hear it out of my right speaker. I remember one of the devs commenting that this is indeed a problem but it's a complicated one they are trying to fix. So yeah, sometimes someone will shoot you in the back but you won't hear it unless it misses and the bullet hits something in front of you.

Thanks everyone for the upvotes. Hopefully we can get some balance back to how weapons work.

    The kneecapping pandemic

That's why i hang in Balota with friends. We basically get into wild firefights there, though lately, I'm getting really suspicious about some of the people we encounter, as sometimes there will be 3 of us and the enemy will constantly know where we are and b-line it towards our positions, despite not being in the obvious sniper hill or bush locations. We all got flanked by an unarmed guy we decided not to shoot, and yet he pinpointed all 3 of our positions. He b-lined it from the Eastern jail right to the house and right to my friend, knocked him out then took his rifle and shot me almost immediately, and then ran to my 3rd friend hiding in a barn. We were all a good 800 meters apart and incredibly well hidden, and we had not been in a firefight earlier so it's not like he was running back to get revenge. I digress. Lately, because of spawn changes, your best bets to get into firefights is in Berenzino or the NE Airfield, or there arounds.

    The kneecapping pandemic

You beat me to it. If you're Mosin sniping, headshots are now worthless unless they have nothing. The surest way to secure the kill is to aim for the legs to cripple someone.
