Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
Demoth replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
I am more annoyed by character animations and the clunkiness of of you experience while what you see other people doing is too jerky and twitchy. But I will say this; I start to really like the clunky and awkward movement that you experience during gun fights because it really captures the feeling of what a shootout would be like between non highly trained people. Have you ever tried to walk, let alone run and fire a gun at something 25 meters away? It's REALLY hard. And the average accuracy of most police and soldiers in firefights is generally very very low because of adrenaline, having to move, duck and just so forth. And while the unresponsiveness can be obnxious, you do need to take things slow. Like Hells High said, you don't job / run through buildings making hairpin turns up stairs and then strafe turn to make a 180 once at the top. I think this is intentional so that you are forced to move tactically; but I agree that it's stupid when you need to haul ass and you get caught on a little piece of terrain and have to back up, strafe and then continue forward where as in real life you would instinctively just twist your torso a bit to clear that door edge / railing / tree branch. -
Well, I do kinda deserve being gunned down because I just caused a bunch of people to become incredibly jaded. Anywho..... Yeah, I can't wait for the animations and desync to be smoothed out. I am fine with guns being a bit clunkier and guns not being arcadey, but even the tiniest bit of desync causes this game to go haywire. People start rubber banding, phasing in and out of walls, and just being impossible to hit. I remember the mod was also difficult to shoot moving targets, but at least it was a test of skill, not of bandwidth and coding.

The Current Combat Log System Dosen't Work
Demoth replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
Shooting someone in the head also ends combat. -
Was there a specific patch note about this? I'm lazy.... but no one has to link it. Just a yes or no and I'll got wade through them to find it.

Something similar in Elektro. After an hour of watching bambis and under geared players trying to find food, and holding my shots for some fun game, I happened across a group of 3 very heavily armed people run into a group of 4 survivor types with mismatched gear and civ weapons. They were cordial and started to trade. I put 1 SKS round into the head of one guy and the two groups went full murder mode on each other. After the dust settled I ran in, got fully geared and then made my way out..... and forgot to check my corner and was pistoled by someone hiding in an alley. I love this game when it's running smooth.

What Is Your Hangout Spot Where Do You Prefer To Spend Your Time
Demoth replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I love to go to the LLJK police patroled server and start shooting at fully geared players in Elektro. The whole server turns into a warzone, and I've never encountered a hacker on their server despite dying multiple times there (though people use the look-through-walls glitch to see where I'm shooting from. My best record is killing 8 would-be heroes, rushing to where a friend was unconscious, getting him up, and escaping Elektro like a couple of Navy SEALs. My heart was in my throat the whole time. I did kill a couple of coastal Bambi hunters on their server too, but one of the bambis I saved punched me out and shot me with my own gun. C'est la vie! -
Yeah, but I can't figure out how people are surviving headshots with the Mosin and other guns while I'm always dying in one shot with a pristine ballistic helmEdit: You need an actual Seras Victoria avatar.

I was running through the woods in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and suddenly a guy spawned right in front of me in a bush. He just popped in there and I heard his guns loading with his arms by his side. I panicked and drilled him with my M4. We were literally miles away from any town or military bases, it was nuts (way up North). Also, zombie aggro is completely fucked right now. It's incredibly hard to log out in towns because you can run through, think you've cleared it out, and sit in a building for 10 minutes with nothing coming at you. As soon as you start to log out, or perform an action like eating, you suddenly have a zombie run through the wall and start beating on you. I was guarding a friend as he locked out in some town a few kilometers from the NEAF, and we had been managing our inventory in a house for a good 5 minutes, trading supplies and eating. As soon as he logged out, a zed came rushing through the wall to beat on him. Thankfully I was there to shoot it, but seriously....

Is there actual data on whether the Mosin or Blaser does more damage or if they're equal? On that note, I've noticed that guns seem to be incredibly inconsistent. I was fully geared with fully pristine tactical gear and had no free slots as everything was filled with protector cases, ammo cases, food, mags and a handgun. I get shot in the arm (broken arm and ruined tactical shirt, everything else pristine) and I get rendered unconscious immediately. I came to after 2 minutes, wasn't bleeding and then ran away to fight another day. Then someone is shooting at my friend in Balota. I find him, and from 30 meters I shot the guy in the chest with the Mosin. He then starts shooting at me, so I shot him again in the chest. I clearly hit him because he was bleeding from two spots, but he didn't drop. Another time I shot a guy with no headgear with the Mosin, and he fell. I ran over to him, and he started to get back up. I shot him AGAIN in the head, and he only went unconscious a second time, with two gushing bleeding headwounds. I had to put a 3rd Mosin round in his head. While I was messing with looting him, I hear a Mosin shot and I just get "You Are Dead". I had all pristine gear except for a worn tac-vest, and a pristine ballstic helm. What's going on?

Yeah, I try not to fire the shotgun or the Blaser and stay visible while I change out rounds. The speedloader issue may have been fixed, dunno. Glad to hear you're having more luck with the gun than I am :( I feel that a lot of games screw up shotguns one way or another. They either do way too much damage, or not enough. There never seems to be a sweet spot. I understand that if you're wearing a fair bit of gear, buckshot may not have the penetration to go through you and kill you, but I honestly feel that if you're under 5 meters and you pelt someone, they should either get rendered unconscious or be knocked to the ground. I have a Remington 870 Marine Magnum, as well as a Bounty Hunter II coach double barrel shotgun, and those things spray pellets a good distance that blast through hard wood pretty effectively.
-
Quick couple of questions. 1. Are speedloaders still messed up for the shotgun? I heard they dropped the bullet velocity by around 75% when released. Was this addressed? 2. How the F--K are you guys getting kills with this thing? I had 3 different people last week shoot me point back with sawed offs. It ruined all my gear, but each of them I either SKS'd or FNX'd to death while they tried to reload. When I took one guys as a last resort weapon, I buried 2 SKS rounds into a guy before realizing I was dry (I forgot to reload, whoops!) I switched to shotgun, and the guy was bleeding everywhere from the 2 SKS shots. I hit him with the shotgun, both barrels and hew as bleeding EVERYWHERE.... but he still didn't die. I had to switch to my MAgnum and put another round into him to drop him.

Weapon sounds are completely bugged to fucking shit.
Demoth replied to wartzilla's topic in General Discussion
That's very odd, because Dean explained that sound positions and sound detection were both bugged and can't be reworked yet until they completely overhaul the sound engine. So either you're getting very lucky all the time, or you're just saying that to make people mad, because it's a confirmed bug. -
Two bolt action rifle features we should have.
Demoth replied to synystr's topic in General Discussion
Even something as simple as using free look to look at your gun in fist-person and seeing what the fire selector is set to. -
We're testing and alpha and this is a known bug. My suggestion is to get the name of the server and write a very detailes ticket in the bug tracker. Link the ticket or issue # here and people will upvote it. On that note, there are a couple of servers I have in my personal "DO NOT PLAY HERE" list I made. I always seem to run into hackers on those servers and I always get the message that my character is corrupted and had to be reset after I leave those specific servers.

Yeah. Plus, what would be the point? It's not like someone will find the brass and then CSI: Chernarus forensic the casing and then charge you for murder. -
Admins Shutting Servers Down When They Get Killed
Demoth replied to Solopopo's topic in General Discussion
Making a giant scale game is sooooo easy with a small team. You should probably just do it for them for free since it's such a simple task. -
Your initial posts tone was very hostile and set the pace for the rest of the thread; not someone reasonable looking for a discussion. Also, this isn't a typical shooter, it's shaping up into a survival sim. If you only want to shoot people and get upset at mechanics that hinder your ability to run around and always do it 24/7, you're playing the wrong game.

And my bow... errr, when it's implemented.

I'm really sorry, but you didn't respond, and it looked like you started to phaze through a wall and it scared me.... I thought you were vaulting out the wall to pull out your gun.... I'm.... I'm sorry.

Should the dot crosshair be removed from hardcore servers?
Demoth replied to ztranger's topic in General Discussion
I love it when people try to use the dot for hipfire aiming and I carefully line up my FNX. Pop pop, I now have your loot. -
I fail to understand how others fail to understand this. If I were putting a car together with a team of people and my task was to build the engine from scratch, while someone elses job was to simply paint a door, I'd be pretty pissed if they finished the paint job in 5 minutes and someone went, "OMG, you finished the door before the engine?! WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING?!"

[C@$] 24/7 Daylight No Crap - Hacking clan server? (Screenshot)
Demoth replied to t1337dude's topic in General Discussion
I never log out higher tham ground level. Several times I've purposfully logged out on a second floor and spawned into an invisible room I couldn't get out of (and required me to starve to death) this was before the vault / logout trick to escape being clipped into buildings. -
Disconnecting While Unconscious Shouldn't Kill You!
Demoth replied to t1337dude's topic in General Discussion
And you keep ignoring the fact that people can be shot and knocked out and not bleed. It happened twice a couple nights ago to my friend. Then another friend was shot on sniper hill. I snuck up while my friends directed fire there and bandaged my friend. Things got bad because I epi-penned him but he didn't get back up (it took 5 minutes). I had to wait around because he might hace required a second epi pen. Thing was, while I was waiting, they came back, chased me off (I stripped naked to get to him leaving my gear in the woods) and then shot him in the head because they saw I had bandaged him. In your proposed fix, he could have logged while unconcious and I would have crawled away a lot sooner. AND AGAIN, YOU DONT ALWAYS BLEED WHEN KNOCKED OUT EVEN WHEN SHOT. If you have such an epidemic of getting knocked out and then bandaged and the nkt having a means to gain consciousness normally AND then drop internet right at that time, you are quite unlucky. My advice, don't get knocked out. -
They already have that game though, it's called Arma 3 multiplayer. You should try that sometime. The game is centered around interaction and survival. PvP is a part of it, but it's not the main center. That's just what YOU have made the center.

Sadly, the reason I am taking a break is because I lost two characters I had worked really hard to build up after my friends and I were killed by a teleport hacker in Balota, and then (the last straw) when my friends and I were killed on the mountain between Elektro and Cherno. I clearly saw the guy phase through the wall after killing me, loot my body and then phase back into the cliff face, meaning he was shooting through the mountain. My one friend uninstalled the game in a fit of anger. I'm sure he'll reinstall at some later date.... maybe... he's kind of stubborn, but I think he realized it's an alpha and will simply reinstall when things have settled down. Still, I've died many many times because I was either careless or got outplayed. That's fine. I've been fully geared, walked into Elektro and then a sniper shot me in the brain; it happens. But when someone cheats to kill you, it's just too much to deal with. It makes you just go, "What's the point?".
