I'm guessing you got arma 2 and then DayZ Commander? There is a mod off from the Amra2 games and then there is a separate Stand Alone game that is in open alpha testing that you can purchase on steam.

Yes they walk not run in buildings. I never bother closing doors. Traders in Epoch usually are "safe zones" where you can't shoot eachother. some often a good spot to chat. It also depends o the servers for loot. Some have loot spawns up higher than others. if you can get enough humanity for a hero trader, I find the MK17 CCO SD is my favorite gun. Silenced Scar with a red dot.

I don't know about vanilla but, from what I've encountered on epoch you don't carry gear from server to server since most or all are privately owned. I played on a PvE server for a bit to acclimate myself to the game.

Go in a building... Zeds can't run inside of them. then boom headshot! I play Epoch and love it. the server I play on limits the amount of vehicles you can have at your base and the base size so you don't have people with crazy amounts of stuff. You really just have to play a lot of different server until you find one you like.

Most lone wolfs are either dead or you wont see them. Most people you see hanging out in a street have a buddy on a hill or in a building near by. I've run into a few people here and there that were friend;y nut most aren't.

the SA is fun for a bit but get's old quick. Only so many times you can die and gear up before wanting more.

And then everyone wonders why most people kos. but yeah don't let anyone get within 10 feet or something. tell them if they do they will be shot.

I found the biggest thing for me switching from SA to the mod was getting used to the inventory system and it's quirks. Always make sue you have room before adding things to a backpack/vehicle or storage device. I also found the easiest way to really get to know whats going on without being run over by a tank or sniped from 1000m away every 5 minutes is to mess around on a PvE server for a bit and learn the ins and outs of building and whatnot.

Uh or just stick with the one that is done and not the one that has almost no content. yes the standalone will be great but after 200 hours there aint shit to do. -
Wait so is a server having "donating perks" looked down upon? Or is this a separate case of "if you wanna play you gotta pay!"

I am wondering about optimizing the game for my PC Desktop or laptop? Desktop! although I do have a laptop that can play it somewhat Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 although the native is less (I'm using a 32 inch Sony LED TV) CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600@ 2.40 ghz Graphics card: MSI GTX480 RAM:* 8GB DDR2 SSD? (Yes/No) no, but hopefully in the near future. also Windows 7 now 8 when I got to SSD. Laptop: AMD A6-4455M APU RADEON hd GRAPHICS 2.10 GHZ 4.00 GB DDR3 (3.47 usable) on my desktop I average about 14 FPS and laptop 9-10.

i don't believe anyone trusts googles intentions anymore. NSA highway ftw! I for one, do not want anything to do with this thing. VR scares me and I don't want computers getting much smarter than they are. I like my keyboard and mouse and with 3 to 4 screens in front and around me at any given time, I don't think OR would work for me :p

probably should have been in the SA section then :p, I've seen his videos. But, there is a wolf pack server in epoch so this thread could be confused with that since this pertains to the SA not the mod -

I went to Epoch right away since that's what most people play. From what I understand Vanilla has less so if you're getting bored of epoch you'd be going to a place with less to do. I may be wrong however.
