there are houses that dont spawn loot, its not a bug...its just not implemented yet.

One question, i dont know if anyone can answer it. Will "private" tents spawn and unspawn at their last location with the player connect and disconnect? Like a second player entity with some inventory slots, but only being static and having a Tent texture? Or will they consist and have to be put back into your inventory before u leave a server?!?! Cuz that wouldnt be cool. I wanna be able to leave one server with my tent in the woods somewhere else, then continue playing the next day, maybe on another server, and my tent will spawn at the same place there when I reconnect. Anybody knows something about the planned mechanics?

What to expect from the Ruger 10/22
Ovomaltine replied to JalapaJuiceJerry's topic in General Discussion
I think if it kills zombies or not with a shot to the head depends entirely on the definition of a zombie. If the infection leaves the autonomic nervous system alone it should kill a zombie with 1-2 headshots, like it would do to a human. But if the damage threshold to the brain is actually raised because the infection changes the brain physically... like make it grow more collagenous tissue... or reorganize the autonomous system in terms of location then it would be a reason to adjust headshot damage. But well, that all comes to the question of what ones understanding of the changes is the zombie infection does to humans... -
3 statements on how to really remove serverhopping (which still is possible)
Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
it's not you who has to implement it. it's easy on the user end... you'll see... you won't even need a brain for it. -
a disassembled (!!!) m4 should fit in taloon, mountain and the hunter any rifle (m4 assembled, mosin, longbarrel shotgun, etc.) should fit into the mountain backpack. hell, do somehow remove the possibility to carry 2 weapons with the "weapon in hand trick" and make it like this. then for taking a weapon into the hand... or even make it general... +10 seconds if u take something out of your backpack. i mean, why do i have easy access vests and pants and holsters. when i can just pick anything out of a backpack with no delay. problem solved. EASY. THANK ME LATER!!!

i dont know why u disagree that putting a revolver out of a holster or vest pocket into your hand should take exact the same amount of time as when u take it out of your backpack, which is ... on your ... BACK... and has to be opened ... etc... why are you pretending i would be the imbecile, when clearly you are?

hmmm no i have enough scopes in my backpack, thats where they all went...

Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
by waiting 300 seconds and going to the next server? log out near airfield -> wait 5 minutes -> log in next server with low pop -> grab stuff . rinse & repeat. well maybe reduce it to 5-10 servers then. so you cant just do it all day long... and limiting it to 5-10 server means you have to be lucky that on all 4-9 other servers the loot has freshly respawned. so maybe you can do it 1-3 times then its over. with this method it would take the fun out of it anyway. someday the people who server hop will be frustrated because it costs them the SAME amount of time to gather stuff as a normal player and thats what has to be designed. it has to cost the same amount to gain about the same loot when hopping as when not hopping by putting in penalty delays that make up for the running from one looting spot to the other -
Firefighter's axe in a backpack, but not an M4?

spawn delay is nice, but 300 seconds is way too long
Ovomaltine replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
no its not too long: (there are even more problems still open) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/173496-3-statements-on-how-to-really-remove-serverhopping-which-still-is-possible/ but they should make relogging possible on the SAME server u have been last time without a delay -
same here! i had this happen to me with pristine pants... and the content in it (3 items), 2 got ruined 1 got badly damaged (all from pristine). i didnt fall, get shot or anything. it just happened during moving on a road for 5 minutes

i think the ammo distribution is fine. but it can be duplicated atm, so thats a problem... basically its infinite ammo...

Mosin + Prone position + Bipod deployed + Hold breath -> strong jitter after some recent patch
Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
buddy... when i have a sniper rifle on the ground, with me on the ground and a bipod to fix it in place... then u dont need to hold your breath to make steady shots... dont lecture me. i mean ok... in real life there is much between breathing heavily and holding your breath completely. but next time at the range... try it out... if you have a flat breathing then it shouldnt matter at all with the bipod/prone stance. -
Mosin + Prone position + Bipod deployed + Hold breath -> strong jitter after some recent patch
Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
ok, it seems i had a broken arm... but i dont know FROM WHERE? i know it can have many causes but i cant remember any zombie encouter or being shot, or whatever... so please... if u implement broken arms and legs, then make sure to indicate this as a status text... because having "healthy" standing there did kinda counterindicate my condition... i was trying so much stuff until i found out that its the broken arm...made me mad... >:( <_< :emptycan: -
hi i didnt play dayz for about 3 weeks, today i made a new char. found a mosin and a long range scope after about 8 hours. but somehow the handling in prone (with bipod attached!) seems to have changed. the sights are more jittery than before, even though i am fully rested and not breathing heavily due to a long run or sth. i couldnt find anything specific on that topic in the last few changelogs. some animations changed... sure np... but nothing on an increased unsteadiness of the aim when in full prone, with bipod and long range scope. whaddup wit dat?

measuring tape to be introduced in next patch. you just have to wait.

How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
Ovomaltine replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
but it doesnt say anything like this in a status, can that be the case then? it even says "healthy" in green as status for my char. -
How to zero in with mosin when bolting takes eye off target?
Ovomaltine replied to Highlander007's topic in General Discussion
for me the issue with the mosin is complete jittery sight movement when in prone position + bipod deployed + long range scope + holding breath. its impossible to aim at all for me. its random movement just like when u aim after being exhausted. but i am definately not exhausted. some major issue here... -
How can I report a "mega exploit" privately?
Ovomaltine replied to Miquinei's topic in General Discussion
there are like 2-3 duplication methods known, so no need to make a fuzz about and play mr. ispy -
mosin + long range scope -> new aiming behaviour?
Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
I just tested several setups, reattached ammo/scope, changed mouse smoothing. As soon as i find a nice little video software i will make a clip and upload it. Because that behaviour is, from my experience with dayz and the arma/operation flashpoint engine: 1. caused by the engine (some patch in the last 3-4 weeks) 2. if intended -> NOT realistic at all. that much sight movement is NOT realistic for scoped+proned+bipodded+holdbreath position. and i've shot some rifles in my life. and also it has definately not been that way until those weeks ago. -
mosin + long range scope -> new aiming behaviour?
Ovomaltine replied to Ovomaltine's topic in General Discussion
thx for the various inputs. but please do me a favor, this thread is NOT about ballistics, pls stop discussing ballistics or BULLET behaviour here. i dont have the slightest problem with following up my shots or not hitting what i want to hit. the only problem is that since some time there is EXAGGERATED mouse jittering when aiming. and this must be new because it wasnt there some weeks ago. and its not the very little very slow sway which it was before. as soon as i aim its like my guy has parkinson to a certain extent and mostly the crosshair jumps from one direction to the other. it doesnt look like an error or a hardware/config problem on my side. because whats so annoying about it: the amount of trembling/jittering/shivering doesnt decrease with prone / bipod deployed or even with holding breath. these things dont influence this aiming movement at all. its still possible to get a safe hit at lets say 200-300m, but from 300-600m it became something like that game http://cdn-static.zdnet.com/i/story/60/19/010239/whack-a-mole-ogrady.jpg its more waiting for the crosshair to jump on its target for 0.3 seconds and then shoot, than its aiming for the target and holding the rifle steady with the mouse. because you cant counteract these random jittery movement with the mouse. you would have to start getting parkinson...
