BUMP..I'm getting the same thing in the regular servers...telling me to delete files. I can get into Hardcore but I can't get into my regular player and right now there's no night time servers on hardcore in the US that won't get me killed attempting to get out of the town of death. I have the whole town to cross and go up sniper hill to get to the woods and in daylight that's not good odds. I haven't played since they did the last update so I'm not too sure what's going on with the file issue. Was hoping to get a few hours play time with my regular guy since he has a long trip to go North. Anyone???

My I suggest that a tournament of 3P and 1P play a match to the death on both regular servers and hardcore? The group agrees on a major city that the tournament will be held in, everyone gets there player there before the scheduled date. Could be an interesting match and might also answer some other questions...that seem to be in the middle of this discussion.

New spawns, spawn with a career history....some have medical history, some have hunting history, some are just librarians. If you spawn as a doctor, you can perform surgery on other players with a higher success rate vs a librarian. If you're ex-military your skill level in aiming and dealing with weapon repairs are better than say a lawyer's skill level. Each new spawn is a random selection of a career so you never know what skill levels you'll have until you spawn. If you spawn as a lawyer and attempt to do surgery, your tab key doesn't provide help with what tools to use to provide medical attention to another player vs a medical player would have these stats within their tab key. If you find a box of ammo, a military player would know whether it's useful or not to pickup the ammo or not (by weapons within a 25 ft. range around the military player so it includes his team mates weapons too)...but a player who has some other type of skill wouldn't know if it was wise to pickup the ammo or not.

Clock hoppers.......I've heard of them.......they don't seem to like the nights much but rain hoppers........that's a new one on me.

^^^^ Well as soon as the fix comes in tomorrow so I can log on safely, then I'll be searching for some black paint it looks like. I read in the General Section that someone tried painting the helmet and it didn't work. I play 90-95% on night servers and up until 2 days ago I was nowhere near the coast. I had found an area where not a lot of players come to for some reason so the loot is fairly good. I had to go 1 AF and 1 prison and I didn't care for that at all. Not sure when the server restarted but both places were not touched yet, but I figure it was only a matter of a few minutes before players would show up. At the AF I heard one player eating outside so I had my 45 out and was upstairs behind the stairs waiting, sure enough he came up the stairs and saw me pointing my 45 at him and he turned around and left. Told him if he waited a few minutes I'd be out of there so he could loot it. But boy when it got to be time to step out that door I got to thinking if he was standing out there waiting for me with a weapon drawn or what....I starting running inside the building so I was at full speed when I hit the steps!! lol Never saw the guy, figured he went over to the control tower.

Can't wait to spray paint my helmet and axe. Sure wish they'd make it so you could paint your backpack also. I seriously need some yellow cases I have no more room.

Was wondering what happens to your gear if you take a swim in the water? Does it damage any of it? Can you swim with a full backpack? And the last question is, how deep are some of the ponds in the map? Are any of them deep enough that you start swimming?

Couple weeks ago I found a nice pair of wellies and switched out my worn hiking boots and headed off on a 15 minute field run to another location, by the time I got there and found a pair of perfect military boots those wellies were off my feet asap. From the sound of running it felt like I had 10 lbs of weight on my feet during that 15 minute run. Maybe it's just my headphones but it sure sounded real to me vs tennis shoe sounds.

They sure sounded different to me but then again I might be wrong but I thought I could tell the difference between tennis shoes and hiking boot sounds too as a player is running.

Have you tried running in those? It sounds like you have a plastic trash can on your feet and you're trying to run as the can rocks around making more noise than a mosin!!

Ok thanks for the info. Sounds like my BP and weapons will drop when I enter the water so trying to swim across a body of water wouldn't be a good idea if I wanted my BP and weapons on the other side with me. That's good to know. What's going to happen when and if they introduce rain damage to your clothes? Will the same thing happen crossing streams and small ponds? Will your boots and pants get damaged?

Sitting back laughing at all the complaining that the KOS and Bandit players are doing after the update. Hummmm, "this sucks...I can't be an AH to another player in the game, they need to fix this!!" OH really? They did fix it! Fixed the issue of all the shooting fools in the game...now enjoy your weapons and you better hope you have plenty of ammo because you're going to need it. Sooner or later they'll figure out that they need to put their weapons away and quit shooting at the Z's....I think the rest of us understand these people might be a little slow upstairs and need time to realize how to deal with Z's. The tables are turned.....look who's crying now! Hint: Start ditching the loads of ammo in your gear......bandages are your friend now! Might want to pickup a few sticks too along the way for the broken legs you'll have. The game is manageable right now if you just use your axe to deal with the Z's but if you go in to town shooting, whether it's at Z's or other players, you're going to get what's coming to you. You'll learn soon enough. This has changed the game completely...Elektro was really quiet last night on a day server. Wonder how the new spawns are dealing with the issues along the coast? Seems it would make it a little more challenging to loot any area that has Z's if you don't have an axe at least. That part of the update is going to really challenge new players to DayZ. They might want to spawn people away from the towns and cities and move the axe loot out into the smaller towns in the sticks so players have a chance to get somewhat prepped to deal with Z's at least.

Just about every setting on mine was changed...monitor viewing size was changed to something like 2048 x whatever.. memory was set to like a GB or something...I'm lucky I was able to actually make changes to it, I was having major noises inside my computer and serious LAG!!! I'm talking some serious noises coming from inside my computer while it was trying to process the game's request! :rolleyes: I'm running bare minimum on settings almost...like I said my computer is 4-5 years old and on the edge of history. Figure when a major update comes to Dayz that will make it when I can't play any more then I'll put my old computer to rest and upgrade to a new one. Just really don't want to dump 1,200.00 into parts to build one right now.

I tried to get in half full servers "Waiting for Host" I finally got into a server that had 6 players and when I finally logged out it had 12 but half of them didn't have a ping at all. Figured they were caught in the "Waiting for Host" loop. Also, did anyone have their settings change? Mine are all screwed up and the more I messed with them the worse it got. At one point it told me that I'd have to close the game and reopen it for the settings to take. I'm running a 4-5 year old computer...at the edge of history....and it decides to up all my settings! My poor video card and CPU were about to catch fire! Geez. Finally got the settings to were I could at least function again in the game.

I've got the same problem...been trying to join several servers that are half full 27/40 17/30 and keep getting the "Waiting on host". I can get into servers that are almost empty or at least I could, haven't tried it in awhile.

People had a couple weeks to learn about this update in experimental....I really can't understand why people didn't pop over there and at least check it out...instead of acting all surprised and start complaining about how it'll ruin the game. Put your freakin' gun away and use the axe and if you don't want to do that...the Z's will have you for lunch. Think I posted a response to someone who posted this weekend about someone who said it's can't be that big of a deal to just shoot them. I quote again "Go into the experimental once, visit a large city and shoot 1 Z and then come back and tell us how easy it was!" Yeah, I think the OK Corral days are finally over!

Looks like there's good reason why I'm hanging out in the area then....so far it's just me....not seen the first family member yet.

I've seen plenty of servers half full to full on night time. Is the ratio the same as daytime? No but there's still servers that you can join that have 20 players in them or more. The weekends are probably the best time to find night servers that are full but you can still find some during the week days.

Now that was funny. Nice job with the axe.

You go to one video site (won't name it) and do a search for this "Dayz Standalone Cheat" and see what comes up. It's unbelievable just how open they are with the cheat programs. But I don't think I've ever been in a game that didn't have hackers. The worst ones were "god mode" w/aimbot. Was playing America's Army and there was a guy who could pulled the pin on a grenade as the round was ending and when everyone spawned the grenade would go off before people could run....you couldn't even log off because you didn't have time for that option. He killed the group 7 times before the admin could shut the server down. The difference between games like AA and Standalone is, AA gave you weapons from the start unlike Standalone when you have to find them.

Tonight was a good example of just how dark it can get, even with your settings at full. I was in a building with a room that was about 12' x 20'...I had just shut the main doors and I hear not one but 2 Z's coming so I moved backwards to where I thought I was close to the back wall and pulled out my 45 (the axe wasn't a option because there was zero light), waited until I thought the first one came inside and fired 2 shots. Heard the second bullet hit him...then SHE made it in.....I heard her come right up to me so I swung around and put my back towards the main door and moved back (I'm guessing at all this because my screen was black) Listened for the noise she was making and then unloaded the mag in a spray pattern in that direction, then listened...WTH...she was laughing at me "Hey, you missed me". OK...something is weird she's not attacking me...finally decide to get the flashlight out and see what's going on. She was half sunk into the floor and stuck. I turned around found the door and opened it, then shut the light out and booked it out of that area. It's interesting to see the barrel flash of a 45 going off in the dark.

Heck.......just let everyone spawn with a M4 fully equipped and about 300 rounds of ammo....because this game is completely open ended.

I wonder.....opening up files and making changes to parts of it on your hard drive..... it's clearly not what they wanted you to do since these files were made by the dev's.
