Have you ever given guns and ammo to freshspawns?
Audiofly replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
same as "hells high" i reckon. not payed in a while, just getting back into it after replaying the mod. but i liked ferrying in guns and ammo at spawn areas just to see what happens when a group of new spawns stumble across them and greed takes them over. obvs when watched from a distance. -
if you feel you need to kill, then kill. but a body is wiped 10 mins after with everything( according to new server cleaning), a dropped backpack lasts until the server resets. if i have read it right. i dont go to balota, so sadly ill never meet you in game swaee. and i have a backpack full of love that may make you turn to the light side. :)

Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]
Audiofly replied to alaskafish (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
maybe its a military region, they developed a string of DNA that went wild. maybe they were not thinking of civilian airports. would you use a major populace location as a bioscience lab? . if you were leader. . . or hide it away in the back of beyond? or in a military confined area? google "porton down" UK. right next door to porton is a main excercise area for uk army. no major international airports tho -
Thank you for posting lootandlive. i use mosin no scope ( no 360's whilst jumping off a water tower yet). sorry i digress. With a mosin build you will need a pistol for cqc. or a bloody good axe arm. i guess this is why an M4 is the . . prefered weapon of choice. And looking at the debate on mosins at range . .i have a friend ( dont we all) that can headshot at 700/800( rough estimatation) meters with an LRS . non bipod. due to practice, learning lead in, and account for bullet drop. granted the zombies dont move, but players do. when he's online, i feel safe enough to go face to face with people and see if they need help.i know if they so much as twich, ill stand there in my backpack giving stuff out / bandageing and they will fall over. if they dont, i have to hear the word "unfriendly" and im out of there. The mosin, for me, is the perfect overwatch weapon.

Feedback: Fists Up Sprint Is Overpowered
Audiofly replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
"punch running" is the way to go atm. whilst using this feature you have no weapons up. if you encounter somebody, time how long it takes you to stop , choose weapon(hotkey) and be ready for action. is it better than running for miles with weapon out on a 30 man server that has 16 online and most will be at either newspawn area/cherno/electro/mil base? you also have (server permitting) 3pp and 2x alt key to sprint and look around to see whats going on. very handy when keeping the sun/shadow in a certain location, as in to use it as a compass. -
Any piece of clothing you associate with bandits?
Audiofly replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
@ mercules i totally agree with your post, but as i have had a few bevvies, ill pull up the nerd voucher i got with steam. the zebra stripes (black/white) effect (not affect) airflow. the black stripes attract heat, the white repel heat. thus little cyclones of air flow over its body creating cooling but your right , nothing to do with pouncing on other zebra . . or other animals for that matter -
i wont post as long as you have, but play my char/role as a supplier. I take from the inner towns to drop at the coastal areas. food/drinks/meds/clothes. it keeps me busy whilst the game is under construction. and each time i try to loot from a different inner town to keep it interesting. i have only played the SA not the arma 2 mod. Due to the hours i keep, when i wake up a night time server is like an open chocolate box. 4am CET. so ill do my cycle of polana or dubrovka or berezino or krasno/NEAF/ svetlojarsk and then head south on the coast. so after i finish my irl work and house duties i can try and drop my lootings at solnichniy for newspawns to find. and im starting to like night servers due to it being the best wake up substitute for coffee. i dont bandit so to speak, but on weekends when some friends are online we will just group up and go have fun in electro or cherno. helping newspawns on the way through. and if any of us leave alive its a bonus :)

Audiofly replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
@nickH85 ,I like the way players determine in game rules on everything, at anytime,in every situation. @ all : yes i have been punched out when fully geared bandadging somebody, now i know to drop them on the floor and move back. i have been longshotted whilst standing in the middle of a field like an idiot in a group, i wont do that again. the list goes on, and yet the appeal and dare i say addiction to this game/alpha, IS that it is wide open. Anything goes. One day i may have a charming warm glow gaming experience doing and playing the game my way, but then the next day i could come across a different group playing it their way. adaption and learning is the key. as the game adjusts closer to where it wants to be, the player base adapt it to where they want it to be. i have no qualms on dying, i lose nothing but pixels. and my journey starts again. but the continuing need for people to have someway to tell foe from friend is ( in my eyes) false. Dayz (again IMO) is a survival game. not everybody that survives a zombie attack wants to sit around a camp fire signing folk songs with fellow non infected. which is why i dress to NOT be seen easily if i have to hightail it into woodland, i have a mosin to shoot zombies and bandits that might hinder my helping of others. im also guilty of being a military dressed chap that runs in a group to electro/cherno/NWAF to get loot , and to find a challenge when i have had a few ales. does that make me a bandit? sorry to rant(ish). good wine in spain and its late :P .salut :) -

surely a bandit with a Mosin/LRS or M4/ACOG would have dropped you before you got close enough to see what additions his gun has?. surely Camo gear is the best way to camoflage yourself so your harder to be seen by a bandit and thus survive longer? and the gas mask just follows in with the "survival in an apocolyptic zombie disease environment" . Maybe some of your bandits are more newspawnish than you realise, with the current craze of punching the lights out of a geared up helpful guy and robbing him whilst he is unconcious. regardless of the fact he may have been busy helping out somebody. Im not saying everybody who wears mil gear is a saint, but then neither are the chaps running around in shreddies, not bothering to go looting, but just hitting everybody they see for there bounty. so, call me a helpful bandit. ill help when in a group, or the other guy is restrained, but get to close to me to soon and i will .. unfortunatly .. ventilate your skull for you, ill have a go atleast. whether your in full balistic/camo garb or a pink rucsac and baseball cap. for the record i wear mil gear/gasmask/big gun. and i dont bandit, i stalk for loot inland then drop it into newspawn areas. food+drink mainly, but i have cleaned my inventory of handguns+bullets/axes/bandages at times. so stop judging/assuming on clothing, and start interacting and asking. happy surviving :D -

probably coincidence. or just an uncanny likeness. but when somebody suggested joining the dots for a symbol ... http://i.imgur.com/GdQNnyM.jpg In that image i see the constellation Orion. http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/files/2009/12/orion_Large-e-mail-view.jpg -
get used to dying, the game is more fun when you start taking chances.

how do i do this, i have 3 canteens in my inventory,i can assign one into my hand slot and fill it no problem, but trying to select the second canteen is proving troublesome. if i try to drag a new canteen in to my hand space in bottom center "hand" slot on inventory screen it mearly changes postion with first canteen in bag,but wont let me select 2nd. when deleting canteen from tool bar and selecting something else (axe for example) then drop second canteen on tool bar it selects the first (now filled ) canteen. it does the same and jumps to first canteen. Am i only supposed to have 1 canteen i can fill? im slightly bemused on this. do i need so many canteens? im tending to fill the one and just drink from ponds/wells regardless . but surely i should be able to fill all the refillable containers i have?

@ jonah_hobbs i sometimes get in there and there is nothing of value, and if i have picked up two sidearms on the way ill drop one on one of the stairwells so at least the next guy in gets something for the trouble. i find it very nerve racking going into this place, but isn't that the nature of the game?.

i have never fired a real gun in my life, so ill draw on my limited knowledge using gaming. COD1 ( yeah i know . . i played COD 1 - but it was before it went stupid so its viable) the springfield rifle used a 5 round clip. after discharging all rounds you could clearly here the clip ejected . . PING ( the clips holds the rounds together). a tommy gun however used a magazine, which was individually loaded rounds within a cartridge(magazine). thats my take on it, hopefully ill never have to know first hand.

when i approach the NEAF, ill look for zombies, normally one will approach me from the direction i enter. no zombie? ill lie low, and put my peepers on stalks for a few .mins, if i see nothing, ill assume all the good gear is gone and proceed cautiously. maybe the previous occupant left something better than i have to free up space :P

one of my planetside fellows said something in the way of this: "on paper, an alpha zombie sandbox game shouldnt work. and all though it is prone with bugs atm, but it does" and id concur. it has sucked so much of my time aswell now. i never played the arma2 mod. . or even arma2 come to that. but some of our guys and girl get into this in a good way, and posted pic's, stories on our planetside2 forum. so i thought "why not". id have said it in another post, but the tension just running around solo can be immense when you see a zombie running at you at the last minute, or coming across another player can send you over the top and adrenalin kicks in. not knowing what action they will employ, if they use a mic and cajole you into their trust you start thinking is it a trap?. For me it definitely gives out the vibe of " you versus the world", your world is as big as the map. And you'll start getting very protective of your backpack when you get some nice items in it. to the point of keeping away from people unless they are really up against it ( over run with zombies) then you just pull up the gun and help the newspawn, drop food/bandages/water In a group the game takes a whole new stance. you have buddies protecting you also, so you become a bit more braver on helping the newspawns. but then you want more, and as a group you start taking the hotspots (cherno/electro/military bases) as a target for better loot. Then something hits the fan and your respawning, to do it all again. and you do respawn, you will do it all again. because you cant resist now, your hooked. and your more aware. more cautious. more centered on being a survivor. not a statistic.

I Only Play Overnight in my Region, am I Screwed
Audiofly replied to onephas3's topic in New Player Discussion
i played on my first night time session last night. . and wow ,it adds a whole new dimension to the game. i kinda didnt play as supposed to be as i just ramped up the gamma setting ( i had already ditched my flashlight as i mainly play day servers). glad i did, as i was in east berezino area and could see the construction yard beaming with different torchlights flashing around. it seems those things flash on the landscape outside walls and things . . . . in a big way! and hearing a zombie running to you but not knowing where it is freaking scary, especially when it pops out of a wall! i think ill leave full night time with a torch for when im newspawned again, just to see what it is like. -
Im currently nearly dead and hoping some friend logs on tonight and fixes me up. (as i have the medicine saline,IV starter, and syringe, blood test, blood bag). i know there are good hearted souls out there, but alas there are also the ones that would rather take my beaten up mosin scoped with bi-pod ( nothing over worn quality) and gear. as much as i want to trust other fellow survivors. i just cant seem to break from the habit of become as small as possible when i see another intrepid explorer. as far as helping others, when our group is online we do tend to help news pawners or people that ask for assistance, when in a group its easy to do and less threatening when we have somebody with guns trained on them incase they get all rambo. but as a solo dude i wouldnt dare try to help as much due to knot knowing if im being "suckered" in to an early respawn. so kudos to the OP and may your trust be re-instated soon :).

server reset and i lost my mosin , mountain back pack stuffed with decent gear, everything. spawned back as a naked new spawner . . is this normal?
-
and yes starting over does add to the appeal of the game, if zombies and players cant kill me , the server will. at least i have 16 hours of knowledge on how to restock , its less daunting than when i was shiny new :) EDIT: what i mean is those first steps when totally naked are very tense. the battle to stock up on food and water , the search for a back pack to hold them in, getting a weapon to guard yourself . . its quite intoxicating
-
i dont have a screenshot , but i got mine at the police station in polana, on the shelves downstairs in main lobby room. logged out to do some shopping , went back and there was a shovel in the same place.
-
dont get me wrong , i understand the status of the game. it was just slightly annoying that 8 of my friends were returned to the server with everything intact. i lost out in the lottery it seems :)
