Pending Changelog: Experimental Branch: 0.42.116002
Hethwill_Khan replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Nope. Have slight lag when some player ( maybe with deficient connections ) tries to log into server, that's all. Entered high population area ( UK hardcore, think it was 0-3 ) and had the slight delay while I received the extra packages, but nothing game breaking. And the server was always full all the time. ( Elektro was on fire literally with 3 different groups fighting for control and bambis pouring in ). Absolutely loving the respawning zombies, very impressive so far and shame I didn't record two deaths on our group due to it happening. 1 in Elektro another in Novy. The new lighting layer works perfect and to be honest only a blanket to prevent gamma "cheat" is missing. Didn't find a single hoe, the new melee animations make way more sense and it is noticeable how some previously expendable items, like the fire extinguisher now are quite nice to use. All in all an improvement for the best. -
You should re write the post. I found it very confusing at first read. Had to read it through slowly and having the brain re align the meaning... So you want a "immortality" hug blanket and to collect pumpkins, right ? No to the first, yes to the second.
-
You can. Been on it ( same as all TMK buddies ) since the last weeks, and it is not false. Only way we coming back to Stable is when it gets deployed. :) Enjoy.

Population numbers assure always interaction, love it. Plus the hardcore servers are usually packed after 22:00 GMT, which is a big big plus. Best thing is... stability and no frame loss at all. Pump your graphics and it still flows smooth. Exception being when a player with horrendous connection tries to connect, then you have a fffffffffsssssss shitty moment until he times out. Then is okay again.

You have only heart attacks when shocked. Defib serves the purpose of returning heart to regular beating and prevent the irregular heart beat ( attack ) when in shock - check pulse first. Very very simple mechanic. No randomness in them. -

Thumbs up. Sticking to Experimental for now ( same as last 2 weeks ). Any ETA for Stable ? I mean, netcode stability even in highly populated areas is very pleasant in experimental as it is, no point delaying it for much... ( seeing how atrocious stable still is... ). Thumbs up for the Action fixes. -
Why does no one use the text chat in game?
Hethwill_Khan replied to iBane's topic in General Discussion
Only NECESSITY to use type chat it for is regarding hearing impaired players, which in itself is a shame that ALL games don't have a embedded "voice to character" system. Rest of population can work with the voice chat alone. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
Hethwill_Khan replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I wonder how much "volunteer" work you guys ever done in your life INCLUDING in the games industry. Seen way worse situation than this, you just never heard about them because they never got to be released. Now that is a big problem. No matter what you write or say or cry or whine or bash the man or judge the character nothing will change anything overnight. You simply make yourselves look vulgar and complete pure trash intellects. You guys acting like you never ever did any alpha stages before. And before you reply with a bad tone, I personally couldn't care more about the person Mr. Hall is, but the product yes I care, it gives me hope for future of PC gaming and open world projects. The industry is not blind nor deaf. Those 29€ bought me access to the inner works and work the idea through. I'm fine with having all the modding tools sooner than later. DayZ SA set the next years aim for what many players want - sandbox, open, non mechanized player interactions. At least in that we will all benefit from, when other studios start to do their own projects based on those premises. BI will go through with DayZ SA, that is my belief, but not completely as Mr. Hall envisioned it. That is all. -

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

I think many of us pay in advance for a game, not a person. A project is a team, not a person. A game is the developers plus the community. -

There's no shame in facing truth. He does it very well. How many times any of us tried more than we can chew ? Game will progress, SDK for modding will come, and all that. It is not like half the community hasn't been a PC gamer for over 20 - 30 years, we seen a lot. Many of you look like Zeds aggroing on Hall. -
Always nice to read a good action report.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
Hethwill_Khan replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
The measly 20+ euros I put in gave me many of hours of quality entertainment ready, not really a waste... but.... Such a decision announced with such an advance gives way to much speculation, although I like how blunt and rough Mr. Dean Hall is. Very frontal, and There is tons of behind the stages situations in any industry and the DayZ project is no exception. Speculation aside, he is the face of DayZ, there is no denying that, but also BI for giving him the opportunity to develop his idea further than a mod. Who knows what will happen... At the very least release the SDK kit sooner than later, that would be a smart move... -
Most intense moment of DayZ SA to date.
Hethwill_Khan replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Well done. He got so nervous he went into "monkey with ak mode". Gotta love the psyche part of the game. Not a fan of 3PP, but a fan of nice gameplay moments. Salute ! -
Classic weapons... which ones ?

Have you/have you not seen a hacker?
Hethwill_Khan replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
No. Can't say I ever saw anyone hacking, but exploiting ? For sure. Also seen strange behaviour when de-synchronization occurs, but both players ( or more ) suffer from it. -
Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob?
Hethwill_Khan replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in New Player Discussion
Concretely: what differs the pro from the noob? The team. -
The jumper types are quite fast and will leap if you stop for too long. Soldier ones are harder to kill. They follow you to the last spot where they saw you, if they see you again they keep on chasing you.

Svet being one of them.

Why are you against many military items in game?
Hethwill_Khan replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
OVerall I can reason that the ones supporting the shift to more civilian weapons types - read. shotguns, Blaze, revolver - can see the difference in the intensity of play. As a challenge to see the difference, I suggest you try to make two runs through the Z mobs north of Chern. One, take your M4 and FNX. Other taking your revolver and blaze. It is quite different. Now put yourself in a city scenario where a mob of new born players, say like a dozen, just come with shovels and crowbars to smash your heads, you and you companions. With a mix of M4s and fall back Mosin snipers, unless you guys are deficient in space control, you will be wiping them. Now try to do the same bearing only shotgun, blaze and revolver AND also your couple snipers. Will be a different story. Suffice to say we were jumped by one of these mobs and tally was 21 to 0 with everyone in full military. After some days the same happened in the city, we were bearing mostly civilian guns because ammo was really scarce. Only 2 survived from a group of 6. We enjoyed both situation a lot, but definitely the second one was way way more intense and satisfying with ammo running out, backs against wall in houses and eventually every plan goes to hell because more and more armed bambies piled on. I don't care how they will make it in the future, I only know which I like for being more intense gaming as opposite to massacre hilarity. -
Would ingame currency have a place in DayZ?

Blood is all forms is the currency in DayZ -
Why are you against many military items in game?
Hethwill_Khan replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
If you play experimental you'll know ammo is becoming really scarce even if amount of guns is not; hell one of our M4 guys had only 25 rounds the entire evening and this was going through the inhabited West side of the map on a 45/50 hardcore server...no idea where everyone was. You'll have to kill more and travel more to get your gun fix. Get ready for more intense encounters. -
Why are you against many military items in game?
Hethwill_Khan replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
All about balance in guns and unbalance in teams if you stop to think about it. All guns can kill, sure, but an M4 can rambo 1 on 3 in Regular pretty easy, daily basis. Let's say less military stuff, Mosin can almost be a civilian type if only iron sights, and the shoot outs will be more intense and "western" type. -
Make sure you announce it NOT only in twitter. TMK will show up.
