    Sad reality of how people play dayz

    OP describes nothing I have experienced, both when I was a new arrival on Chernarus, surviving alone, nor now as a experienced. Something is oddly wrong with this analysis. Alone I did find my problems finding loot, granted, but, unconsciously and as innocent as a bambi can be, I moved inland. Ended up in Polana, Gorky, etc. I started giving my own names to the places and rememberd all the landmarks in my mind so I could travel the landscape easy through the wild. Eventually I discovered Berezino and all the other major towns. Faced my first crisis and had to kill to survive. That moment was changing indeed. So far, in that life, I had joined up with another guy, we survived very long, met people along the way, traded, etc. Then all hell came down on us. Buddy died, I killed others, eventually I got shot on the coast road. Tough luck. The first week for a complete newcomer to DayZ map and system is best spent on the small towns, just foraging essentials, not guns. After you find a buddy, then you can go more...adventurous and start scanning the map a bit more. Eventually you find a group that you like and things change again. Game leaps onto the gunfight level. Gear up, help buddies than died, keep the group alive. No, there is no need to kill everything that moves, but after a while is really easy to read a new spawn. The killers will be sweating their type all over the local chat. The soldier types are fine and don't hide much, they do whatever they have to do to keep their group alive. Heroes are really helpful and will come and wander off into the woods cleaning them. And then you have the odd role player, fantastic blokes with the most fertile ideas - traders, missionaries, you name it - all flashy raincoats and colorful gear. Back to the OP breakdown, It is not even generalistic. You are describing gamers, not players. A player will enjoy the game and see where fun can be found. Gamer will go for the immediate reward. Won't work here. Maybe OP needs a group ?

    It is a bounty hunt, but a hard call to anyone willing to collect it given no server details are disclosed and detailed description of the target is given. Location is valid for 5 minutes maximum.

    I do not agree. The huge amount of stable servers completely defeats any good idea this suggestion has. If there was only a few sanctioned private ones, sure. But as it is 90% of servers are loot farms. Plus, how do I list servers where friends are playing ? IMO a more restrictive server core code should be implemented, sorry to say. For example, less than 10 players in the server ? Manual restart disabled.

    The military infected hit hard, other can and will hit hard sometimes. Also every hit, depending on force and other factors ( like being hit in the back ) can and will result in shock. Meaning you can and will be knocked unconscious. Still there is no effective knock downs... That should be in to re balance the whole fighting mechanics. Lets say that two groups decided to engage each other, and with the zombie spawns, from 3 casualties each group, only 2 was from opponents firearms. Rest was result of zombie aggro. In my case was jumped by 3 which knocked me flat in the dark. I eventually wake up, all blurry and could see all chaos go around. Eventually I bled to death. Both groups disengaged and went separate ways to survive or we all would have perished there. Talk about a phyrric victory to either side if one had the upper hand...

    Why doors are allways closed?

    Experimental did have the no doors reset ( not random mind you ) two patches ago. Was interesting. I actually enjoyed more.
  6. It is true, but 2 versions ago it was reported as very good, smooth and of course it had some problems, but was worth a shot. That was a widespread opinion. But we respect the Dev team priorities.
  7. Not going to lie, but an entire group here is either sticking to EXP for well over a month now or got back to Epoch until Stable is worth the stable designation. We are very happy with the game progression, mind you, it is just that the money spent on servers might be a waste ? Would be fair for server owners to have more info IF and WHEN stable will be updated, now and in the future. Stable is playable, but damn, simple features included the Exp. makes the experience a little ways better and theres no more lag pains and stuttering aches. Only negative side is that Exp is not connected to BattleEye ? I might be wrong here but the server list shows specifically if you turn off BE filter plus I never see anyone drop from timeout of comms to BE.

  9. We do it all the time. What we find hard is to exact a tax to enter a town. Impossible to do with only 8 guys... THAT is the only activity even close to be... world changing, albeit temporary, that we can have right now. When I say a town it can be an airport, or water sources, or hospitals, etc... In the end it will all come down to the groups AND servers and no, no need to be private to do this stuff. IF the devs ever think of making that Green Mountain radio transmitters active, and radio receivers working, damn, the following month would be HELL for control of "time share" in the facility. Wasteland Radio anyone ? ... dream on .... and carry on fighting the good and the bad...fight.
  10. Let's see... ... there is no purpose to be alive. Lies ! ... and truth. There is no purpose to try to survive. IF we had intervention in the world, like recovering the Dam to power output ( and therefore make the fridges work ), or establishing a wordwide Radio trasmission from Green Mountain facility ( that would be audible in all radio sets in the houses )... IF we had a... purpose, now, wouldn't many many DayZ hours develop in a different fashion. Persistent Camps are only a upgrade to PvP scenario. But the players need interesting things to accomplish that CAN affect the whole territory. Gear is more important than life. My gear, when I get killed, will help someone else, more often than not one of my buddies.

    Real Hardcore Mode

    Infection is on the dev roadmap, just have to hang tight. Disease as well. A true hardcore mode requires three main things before anything else. - 1PP as we have but TRUE server side - no 3PP ESP scripts. Sorry. - forced night/day cycle - cycle duration at server admin discretion - specific gamma curve for night time - high white yield - so no tweaking can be done after dark After that is set in stone we can go through the core mechanics of health, combat, loot.

    I enjoy the idea of total chaos random loot. As mentioned, the refreshment of "exploration" would gain from it. And yes, might be strange to some but many players are not gamers. There is a fundamental difference which, I am sure, many decades old computer games players can identify with. An M4 on a wood cabin ? Who left it there ? Was it broken ? Or did the deceased owners had it for spare ? Did they leave in a hurry ? All these "role playing" won't matter as soon as you put it in your hands, that is granted, but can give a reason to be to that same chaotic entropic scenario of equipment spread everywhere. Damn, even a defib or a press vest could be found in a shack somewhere...

    1. loot to be REALLY random - not everytime the same loot runs 2. Camp site and persistent equipment stashes 3. In depth crafting/cooking including MAINTENANCE of everything mechanical / machinery - defibs, scopes, lights, weapons, etc - include combination of same models as "spare parts" to fix damaged stuff. 4. more civilian/hunting weapon models - less army serial weapon model - less ammo overall 5. Triple base Zombie numbers ; half the spawn rate.

    As with the game concept, paper notes can be used as much as your imagination allows only limited by persistence. It is a great marketing tool for groups actively present in game.Also can be used as an ID card of sorts. Paper only needs a new texture to SHOW immediately that it has a note written instead of the default clean white

    Have you/have you not seen a hacker?

    Well, there is a first time for everything and fortunately had the pleasure to see it first hand yesterday evening. Actually we were two strangers caught in the same situation. Situation was - accelerated sprint like twice the speed, phase out, phase in, punch, double sprint, phase out, phase in, punch. Second, suddenly a good dozen of zombies vaporized from thin air right in front of my face. Location was after the bridges at Solnichniy Factory. The other testimony of the exact same situation can be given by the unknown player - our code word for the future, if we ever meet again is "mango" so if you out there buddy just show up. Now I was laughing all the time given the absolute ridiculous situation. Given I couldn't fight against the teleport and sprints I decided to stay put and even landed a blow or two on the guy. That's when he vanished and the zombies appeared right in front of me, and no, we had none following us. Eventually I decided to go down Rocky style punching infected sons of b's. Before death I spotted a soldier coming out of the woods. No idea if he was with the script kid or not. Mind you this was on Experimental, hardcore UK 0-2 or 0-9, not really sure which one of the two. Experimental is not connected to BattleEye as far as I know, so ... yeah... fertile ground for scripting.

    Did you get KoS a lot?

    Three times. First time was wearing a press vest and yellow bandanna and was just hanging in the coast meeting new spawns and other travellers. Was shot twice. Second shot sent me back to the newcomers beach. Near Kamyshovo. Second time was just a sudden encounter and BAM, M4 to the face. Wasn't carrying a soldier kit ( I seldom do ), but I can accept that the other guy went for safe rather than sorry. At Berezino heights. Third time was simply a classical newcomer slaying, sniped from Solnichnyi factory. Two minutes after the sniper was taken out by buddies that were on route to rendez vous. Other than that I die but I do not consider it KoS. More like a skirmish and people die when bullets start flying and no one cares how the hell the shooting started :)

    Is we hold up someone he will be executed if attitude is: - boring - tries to log - stays silent for long - has no humour All the others will live. We even gave one of them ( after we extracted some of his O- precious blood !!! ) a magnum with 1 bullet and a matching gun sling. There is no honour amongst bandits, that is true, but survival depends on both, kidnapped and bandit, not only on one. One of the most boring victims we just left alone in the wild, out of view, a good 10 minutes crawl from the coast road... kneecaps blasted. He was really so so boring he didn't even deserve to die. I said this before, play your character the best you can and TRY to be imaginative and SURVIVE. If you try your luck you are not trying to SURVIVE. A group intended on killing you WILL shoot you dead as soon as you put your hands in your head.

    Everyone knows that map. That makes it small by a full measure. If map was completely new, yeah, would be big until is was completely explored.

    *shrugs* Main point for introduction of timer was not hopping but combat ghosting... so... yeah... doesn't. The only system that will prevent it, partially, is if Weapons and Ammo don't get transported from server to server.
  25. *yawn* Wonder how half of the population will gear up with the "dupping" fixed... *wink* *wink* OP, thanks for the stories. But if you read what you wrote you display the same behaviour as the one you point fingers at... well, especially the hopping part. But all in all I still don't understand EXACTLY what you mean. Stable has some crap situations at the moment which have been fixed on Exp. and will be deployed soon enough. So... Patiently waiting for your after patch rant.
