One tip from a newcomer: Full servers are the best as you find all kind of folks, from RP'ers, to protective folk, to bloody gangs, etc You getting sniped means one thing: The other survivor perceived you as a threat. It is nothing personal against you, it is his own perception of danger that comes into play with his decision to shoot you. Simple. Improve what you may change - the in game world around you. Accept what you cannot change - human nature of other players. Embrace the change - as game evolves into full release. As I hope, when mechanics start to fall into place, like encumbrance, infection,etc, the unfolding of a "survivor's life span" will be much different as we know it right now. The more you explore the game possibilities the better and there is no fixed better way to play it, hence why I said the only possible measure of artificial skill comparison is how long you survive, there is no mandatory objective other than staying alive. Sometimes you go down in 2 hours. Other you stay high and strong for a full week. All that remains, at least for me, are the awesome moments passed with certain "avatars". Others die so fast I just can't remember what happened. Snappy salute !

There's no definite answer, but for some reason I distrust less the woodsman shirt wearers than the full military parade gangsters. Doesn't mean a thing, just a silly unconscious feeling. Orange raincoats are kind of creepy. Yellow ones, usually means the guy wants to be seen. The new canvas clothes are just hipster.

Again, wait for Private Hive. It will come. Plus skill EQUALS staying alive for the longest time in a public rules server, no matter what. This can be the firefights, or only mountain trekking discovering the land WITH all the dangers we already have ( including mechanic bending retards ) plus what is planned, such as wild life. If you want you can do PvE already. Use the woods and mountains, clear the hamlets of zombies, gather your supplies, run for the hills again.

Once encumbrance, stamina, disease, and other physical factor come into play the whole thing will become more interesting. I rather use my trusty logsplitter than the fireman's. Two swings for the price of one. Saved my life in a very tight spot. With the fire axe i probably would have gone down. But all in all, any strong direct hit to the unprotected skull is a knock out. Axes simply will break your neck or crush your torax.

I'm a lucky bastard then. Painted and repainted mine a few times yesterday, black and green. Nothing happened. Remained pristine and works a charm. Will happily go through the bug to see it happen.

Sterile idea in my opinion. Personal choice of clothing, whatever RP trade you want, must not be conditioned by some artificial mechanism. You have tons of raincoats and other garments to fill in your need for role play. Just do it and make a thread about it. As an example, myself on the HC hive, decided to go kind of a missionary, carrying bibles and other humanitarian books and fully bagged with helpful kits. I intend on be seen, that is the entire purpose of it, so I chose Yellow. Does Yellow makes an avatar what he is ? No, it is the player choice to do so. Not some embedded mechanic. Why I like the game ? Freedom of choice, freedom of movement, freedom of objectives to accomplish. Ultimate goal, to survive the longest while trying to interact with other survivors.

Upcoming private hive for all your needs. Wait and then rejoice. Public must remain faithful to the developers vision. As it is a PvE server would be used only as a gear farming carefree place.

Cans endure. But the cereal boxes are the mystery solving thing. -

I like how you answered your own question in a indirect and self suggesting way ahahahaha ! Maybe such a enterprise needs more imagination than the simple example you gave - book seller, fashion shop, etc - instead of the useful items like food and ammo - the trick with setting up trade is individualization of your avatar. Any business needs to have customers, as anyone can get food and guns, why not sell surplus decorative stuff ? On top of that, gather a security ring around the area and get ready for some awesome fun firefights while bandits try to break through. Back to the initial post; I don't think any mechanics of NPC will do whatever the players can not do already themselves. -

I am all for player self made and enforced zones. I am all not for artificial mechanics to enforce it ( aka. npcs, etc ). Basically, if you want it done, get it done. Join a group and do it. Good luck. -
There are plenty of multi player games with PVE in a zombie apocalypse scenario where you gather resources ( read guns and healthy stuff ) and the team has to survive through. Why choose DayZ SA specifically for this ? I'm curious. DayZ is a game about "the player versus the world" at its very basic. If that is not PvE I have no idea what multiplayer open world means to you.

Last evening, simply going down the spawn places and cleaning the areas of infected so the bambis make it more safe. Eventually got ambushed from the wood slope and shot to death without warning. Is there a reason behind that ? Death in DayZ needs no reasoning, just cause. My wild guess is he wanted my flak jacket and shotgun so he could give to a friend ? Or maybe he just wanted one of the pieces. Who cares anyway, I was dead, he was alive... for the time being. So, what is to blame on his KoS attitude ? Nothing. He made sure he would get what he needed to keep alive and to keep his "wolfpack" alive.
