  1. Because in here we can define our own goal, irrespective of IRL goals. AKA looting 100 items and giving them away before someone manages to kill you = A goal. Heck, runing across the map in your undies can be a goal, and you can acheive it, just as any other person can have the goal to kill 10 characters before he's taken down. The goal of this game is what you make it, for now. My goal? 0 kills. Still successful -.- (Yes, I do not count getting killed as being a failure, no matter how silly some "guy" thinks it is) I just define my success as the same thing that somebody else define as fail.

How many have you killed and why ?

I haz killed 0 characters. Why? It is so 1990 and too friggin mainstream.
  3. Please enlighten me; Since there is no incentive to do anything in DayZ at the moment, other than attempt to test new features, I will call your KOS as much a fail as me volutarily jump off the roof of a building. If I decide that is my goal, I do not fail just because you have a differnet opinion on the matter :) I actually SUCCEED if my goal is to suicide off the control tower in NEAF, because that is the goal I set since DayZ gives you no goals at the moment. So, according to my own standards, I succeed with everything and anything until further notice :D

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

This thread was completely free of that crap, until you showed up...

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

Einstein of the week right there...

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

I didn't say the information had to be useful in any way. In my mind, being able to hear people after you are dead is a bug, it should not be possible.

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

I was looking for a better reason than that. I'm not going to give anyone any piece of information they shouldn't have.
  8. It might have something to do with the fact that you spawn alone on the beach, your character doesn't know anyone in the area, he has no voice communication to an IRL dude 6km away in the NE direction that he can just hook up with to go look for someone to kill. It all depends on your take on the game. Current character has been around the outer edges of the map, zigzagged some in the central area, and been alive for a good while. He even walked close to 100% of the distance from SW corner to SE corner out in the open to see if he was assassinated. Now he's surviving on his own in the wilderness and only visits towns when he runs out of food. There is no need to encounter zombies until it's unavoidable. As he has only seen 3 or 4 other people on his travels, that were either running or sprinting in some direction before contact was even possible, he has yet to have an encounter. Since his prime objective is to survive, he long since decided that venturing into cities where firefights can be heard from time to time is not a good idea, evern if he carries an M4 with quite a bit of bullets, and a Magnum.

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

Are you telling me that you met a guy, that started making a song about killing people, and that made you ponder if players taunt others after they have killed them? Strange associations there. Why I would even attempt to speak to a dead person is beyond me.
  10. Never underestimate the man who, when left alone in a world with few guns, gets tired of them.
  11. or'dinii

    Wrong to shoot a Bambi?

When will people learn that in a game with guns.....we have heard your "story" about a gazillion times already. It sort of feels like Facebook where people tend to inform the world of the most mundane stuff. It's getting old :/
  12. or'dinii

Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....

I would stop, raise my hands and see what he/she did. If KOS I'll simply respawn at the coast. If Bandit, play along. If friendly, give them kudos. Kill him because I'm afraid of my character? Nah, what's to lose? Once guns (if ever) does not define the game I most likely will attempt other measures/a different approach. Or to put it this way; If it will take me days to get to where I am when encountering another character, I will be more careful, but like now when you can get more or less the same gear in an hour or two...not much to defend really. Let the triggerhappy have thier way if they want, they will have to take interaction into account sometime in the future, and then even playing along as a hostage might be fun in itself. I guess whatever playstyle people chose to do it will help balance the game in the end.
  13. I do not need your validation, I am merely trying to provide some info that should lead you to the conclusion that I know what a sandbox game is, as you have stated on so many occasions, because the thing is, you will never believe me. If I had a hotdog in my hand and you asked what the red stuff on it was, and I were to reply "ketchup", you wouldn't even believe it if you had a taste. So it's not so much an attempt to impress you, or anyone else for that matter, it is just a futile attempt at making you realise something. And there is no more to it than that :)
  14. No, it came out of your inability to believe my knowing what a sandbox is.
  15. Yes, on several levels actually. You seem to be 100% sure I have the desire to impress someone with that small list of consoles, PC's and how long I have been online, despite it being a hint that I actually know what a sandbox game is. Another odd thing about it is that you do not let it go even after I tried to hint at how long I have been playing games and use that as a basis for claiming that I actually know, when you dismiss it. You still seem to not believe me, something that tells me it might have to be repeated. That is odd. I'm starting to think you are about to drift into that same "passion" you so eloquently accused me of :)
  16. Boasting...lol. Tryng to reverse the trolling?
  17. I might fail at much, repeatedly, but I did not fail in trolling you :) Those walls of text is the reason you didn't identify me... But, I'll give you some info on the real me, just to put your quote there into perspective; I was born in 1976 I had my first C64 @ age 12 Went online in 1996 I've owned PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360 I'm currently on my 10th PC I think I know what a game is :)
  18. The articulated troll is the last to be spotted, what else can I say? Copycat trolls get busted all the time. Whatever characterisitics you threw at me, not once did you consider me trolling, even when I listed it as a possibility. Do you honestly believe I would take part in a serious discussion regarding the playstyle of a game that probably only has a fraction of the features it will have once in beta/full release, where the playing community are the testers? Use good enough grammar and wording and people will never suspect you are a troll, but they will believe you are mental. (I'm usually a good guy and do not troll in general, but sometimes there is just that urge) Apologies to anyone who experienced any discomfort. (Hey, after all, this is the internet).
  19. May I remind you that I wrote that trolling comment prior to this taking off? Didn't notice that either... oh well :)
  20. Trust me, it isn't. Let me quote you again and you will follow. Is it untrue? The case I am describing is true and can be documented. That is why I find it facinating that you label it nonsense. I even spell out that I do not hold the Japanese in a higher regard, minutes later you get on again about the exact same issue. It is an observation related to one incident. I'm not even saying it will be that way next time, it was at that particular time. And since you obvioulsy missed it the 2nd. time around, even with red color, bold underlined and in italics... Have a pleasant weekend :)
  21. Again, point it out to me, do not just repeat the accusation.
  22. Yes, indeed you have good points in there. But, I get the feeling you and CrazyandLazy jump to conclusions on most occasions. The fact that I compare how two nation's citizens reacted in crisis situations, and that I said good things about one of them, again in one example, seems to lead the both of you to the conclusion that I hold the Japanese in a higher regard than Americans. Apologies for that, wrong person, please disregard the strike. Why? Why is that your first, and seemingly only, conclusion? And this is not the first example, I have quoted a bunch, and asked for clarifications, and none have been provided. Regarding teh semantics comment a while back, not accusing you of that, but commenting on it here (can't be arsed to go and see who wrote that); The single reason this discussion has reverted to semantics is that there is a one way flow of arguements supporting only one side of the debate. The only thing that goes in the opposite direction is "Learn what sandbox is", and no sensible arguements as to justify KOS. I am not demaning that you justify your KOS, don't get me wrong, but I would think that if you really were thinking that KOS'ing is the way to go one would at least supply some sort of sensible arguement rather than falsely making remarks of the opposing side's personal properties, which is miles off topic, at best. To clarify one last thing, the Japanese/American post I made is exponentially more related to this game than the sexual preferences of the Japanese. I was using a disaster backdrop to show human tendencies.
  23. Now I need you to elaborate a little. Cazn you elaborate on "wall of text"? I know it is indende to describe a large body of words, but I get the eerie feeling you are trying to use that phrase in a negative way, that "wall of text" is in some way, by a majority, defined as filibustering by default. And, while we are at it; Situational awareness and all that. Thanks for making my weekend :) And psssst....
  24. I feel pity for US citizens for the simple reason that they are more or less being fed negatively and/or fear related news 24/7, and their government is much more willing to cater for big financial institutions than the well being of their own population. On top of that the former president set in motion processes that would lead to a situation where Americans could be detained on the grounds of virtually nothing, justified by the "need" to secure society after 9/11. There is nothing wrong with americans themselves, it is how they are shaped by a fubared government. Now, what I expect of you is to take the text describing my pity, twist and turn it, apply statements that I have not made and ask me to explain an issue that isn't there. That is the pattern you show.
  25. Once again putting words in my mouth and hoping I won't notice?
