Do you save your loot? or spend it when you can?
Judopunch replied to meat pie's topic in General Discussion
Me as well. -
I went to one server with 5 of my friends. We were all geared with food weapons, backpacks, and whatever else we could want. Its an alpha, but really its not that bad. Asking for help is better than complaining. Using the search button and reading for five minutes would have easily answered most of your questions.

I just killed my first innocent survivor... And I feel terrible.
Judopunch replied to Hagon94's topic in New Player Discussion
I dont have any problems gunning down others who are doing harm or looking for trouble. But man, my group just had a hell of a fire fight and one of my friends died, we were on our way out of electro. We ran into a bambi who obviously didnt know he was running to the wrong town. I shot him instantly. When I went to hide his body as we were quickly leaving I saw he had a couple books and some items that didnt have much use in the game yet. A true innocent new player. The books man, thats what gave the guilt room to fester. Those books.... -
All seems to be lag/desync related

Just 2¢ from someone who has used these weapons in his day job
Judopunch replied to Robert Allison's topic in Suggestions
Remember the game takes from real life, it doesnt copy it exactly. The ranges and dispersion discrepancy's you mention are there for game balance. You could make the m4 laser accurate at 500m if you wanted to. But what if some players have trouble with a view distance at 500m? Is it a good game experience to be one-shot from 1000m, with absolutely 0 chance, because you needed to go to a pond, crouch, and hit the F key 30 times? In the game, why should anyone ever be able to hit something at 500M anyways? I probably couldnt and I know how to shoot and have shot various types of weapons, should weapons infact be less accurate because the person firing them is an average jo? Its easy to move a mouse and hit a key, what do you do to mimic real life skill in firing a weapon. -
I wish threads like this and the aforementioned could just be moved to a second 'we didnt read the disclaimer' forum.

Loot and zombies will eventually respawn without servers having to restart, when they finish the code.

constructive feedback, ideas, discussion and brainstorming are what is not happening in these forums. There are to many whiny bitch threads drowning out and alienating good discussion with 'omg my guy got deleatezd i cant play, why zombies not there?"

Alpha is for... never mind you wouldnt understand.

Why so many bandits? How to deal with them?
Judopunch replied to Catalpa's topic in New Player Discussion
Oh he had a reason. You were in Elektro. -
0/10 to obvious.

Why so many bandits? How to deal with them?
Judopunch replied to Catalpa's topic in New Player Discussion
Never go to an airfield/military, stay away from elektro and cherno, move away from the coast as fast as possible. Check your back. Assume everyone is going to try to kill you. Water is your first priority, the shadows your best friend. Lurk, if you want to meet people do it on YOUR terms. -
right click the speaker icon on the bottom of the screen, playback devices. Find the playback device and uncheck 'allow devices to take exclusive controll of this device'. That may help.

2 steam accounts (with paid dayz) on 1 computer = 1 shared char?
Judopunch replied to transmuto's topic in Troubleshooting
You should see if there is a bug report on this, if not this is a good one -
Known bug, fixed next patch. I think it was caused by the typo

Judopunch replied to Cord502's topic in Troubleshooting
No one can help unless you provide your system specs, and any troubleshooting you have done. -

For once it would be nice if idiots like you would stop posting about shit you don't understand. -
I think some of the optics needs more magnification
Judopunch replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
The view, draw distance, and magnification in the arma engine are modeled after real human perception. The acog is only about 4x, a $30 pair of binoculars will be 10x30. For something like the m4 more than 4x would be pushing its effective range anyway -
Out-sniping a dude who has a mosin with a bow and arrow = priceless.

I think Rocket said on redit he was going to do that. Tru.

Its so hard, when society is so fraking dumb and entitled. I remember when you could go to a forum like this and have good discussion, now its a bunch of whiny brats telling the developers how to do their job when the brats dont even have a clue how the dev's job works on even the most basic level. Such as what you said 'polish... late stages of development instead of an alpha", half the posters in GD dont get that! The quality of this game, for what stage its in, is quite frankly amazing. Im glad im not the only one around here not suffering from the dumb. Beans to you sir.

Everyone complains about every little thing they dont like every day on this forum. They are always telling the devs how to develop the game and what their priority are. The developers know how to build a game, the ignorant masses complain way to much. This is an ALPHA. Telling the developers what their priority should be without the faintest fucking clue how games are even built is presumptuous at best. The issues he is bringing up are closely related to networking among other things, and can not be 'fixed' until the other core pieces of the game are in place. The flickering is part of the graphics engine that they are in the middle of overhauling. The game will not be ready for AT LEAST ONE YEAR. Shit is going to be broken for a long time. And it could get much much worse than it is now before it gets to that point. Hell he even the op says the issues are superficial!

Exactly, as a game it should be inspired by real life. It will never be real life. Trying to make it exactly like real life would make it inconvenient because we have to interface with the game with a keyboard, mouse, and screen of some kind. The game already does a good job in making actions have meaning with the animations for pulling out gear, bandaging, eating, shouldering / shouldering weapons, ect. Though I could see merit in having to set the backpack on the ground, in front of you, clicking on a zipper and dragging, clicking on individual items digging through it to get to what you want, I dont see that as being appropriate for dayZ a social fps mmo survival adventure horror similar to how you wouldnt use something like assassins creed's control scheme for fighting in dayZ.
